Thunderbolt/display port sure. But "usb-c" only monitors driven by the displaylink technology suck. Would happily pay a premium for genuine graphical inputs such as mini-displayport, micro-hdmi, etc ahead of that displaylink nonsense.
Would totally sacrifice the 4k. Would keep It 1080p perfectly for the use it's probably gonna have. If It even ran without external dongle / power supply (only through a cable that doubles, maybe? Ofc on a laptop) It would be revolutionary.
GrOOvKe's Rotor Madness according to other reviews on this product, it can work standalone without the hub. So maybe it's either compatible on some devices or scaling would need to be handled on the pc end
Awesome tech, 4K at this size and weight (Portability) is freaking innovative. Imagine if they made a durable "as thin" keyboard hub to go with this? Both nested into each other like the cover already does. You get a laptop at only 300 grams + battery pack. Forget the type C connector and use dock (pins). Seriously, manufacturers should re-consider using this external battery "way to go" with mini laptops in general. It is probably a nice extension for DEX users on Samsung phones and tablets. But then you have 2 displays, hmm? Just put a 7nm Z8350 cpu in (the keyboard or) the display itself at 2 Watt TDP, right? You have a full 4K (STARTREK) tablet and the rest is accessories. Might consider going camping with this with a 5 Watt (backside thinfilm) edge to edge solar panel (Built-in). I recommend you to be gentle with this 007 gadget, store it somewhere safe it probably gets forbidden somehow like #HUAWEI 5G Tech . It's that innovative probably to the #NSA? What if CREE is contracted to make a single dot (1 watt) light source so squeeze tiny but powerful enough (500 nits) to illuminate through ingenious re-fracturing the backside of the 4K LCD? then you get a 3 Watt 4K Laptop with computing power at only 300 grams. IT IS HAPPENING FOLKS !!

And I have heard 13 inch laptops having 4K is kinda a waste for the most part 1440p would be the sweetspot I guess, but I guess Imma look for 1440p portable monitors that are 15 inchers, this c-force monitor Linus talked about seems already perfect just like he said they just need to fix that wobbly connecting solution, 250 bucks ish ain't that shabby for a tech on the go experience too if I had to go for this one
Not gonna happen with the side facing connctor, you'd have gaps for the plugs making it unusable. If they come up with a slightly thicker one where the cable goes flat in at the back with a Vesa mount on top? Yeah, i'd totally see that being done.
5:45 they should 1000% make those a little thicker for a dual position stand. Or even better, make a way more sturdy USB hub that's recessed and have a hub that can also act as a stand in some way. That way you can have the hub without the tether, maybe even with some sort of casting built in? So you can use it as a wiereless display.
If they make a 144hz 1080p one it might make a good laptop replacement. You make a portable mini ITX PC. Add that display to it + a mechanical keyboard + mouse and you got yourself a gaming laptop replacement.
We put MicroITX servers in security cabinets for commercial and industrial accounts. A small light display / high res ! / like this makes the job a lot easier. Nice product Linus.
@@leecaste lower resolutions require less gpu resources to run. If the pixel density at 1440p is already good enough for you, there isn't much point in it being 4k. Thunderbolt/display port sure. But "usb-c" only monitors driven by the displaylink technology suck.
Would happily pay a premium for genuine graphical inputs such as mini-displayport, micro-hdmi, etc ahead of that displaylink nonsense.
Have you tried directly attaching a 4k Phone via USB C without the hub? Since no scaling would be required.
Omg, I thought for sure he was going to break that screen through the entire video!
Linus Butterfingers, Great video!

Love Linus' lightbulb moments as the video progressed. This display looks great!
Would totally sacrifice the 4k. Would keep It 1080p perfectly for the use it's probably gonna have. If It even ran without external dongle / power supply (only through a cable that doubles, maybe? Ofc on a laptop) It would be revolutionary.

might that work without the extra box?

Linus: The thinnest monitor in the world
L.G: 'The time has come, execute order 69
These portable monitors are getting better every year. The new 17 inch model from asus ROG is amazing, 4k , 240 hz , 1ms responce . Its a shame its so expensive at around £700 in the UK 🇬🇧 .
Welp I just searched for it and wow I thought you were mentioning a monitor that's 17 inch 4k and another one that's 240hz but no it is the Asus XG17 lol, complete package I didn't knew 4k can go 240Hz, haven't watched any vids about it but I am guessing since it is smaller it's easier to drive them faster?
And I have heard 13 inch laptops having 4K is kinda a waste for the most part 1440p would be the sweetspot I guess, but I guess Imma look for 1440p portable monitors that are 15 inchers, this c-force monitor Linus talked about seems already perfect just like he said they just need to fix that wobbly connecting solution, 250 bucks ish ain't that shabby for a tech on the go experience too if I had to go for this one
Check out the $200 ASUS ZenScreen and the AOC portable monitors, they're just as thin and already for sale.
DM 700g vs 200g a big difference if not counting the stupid hdmi box
I have the Zenscreen, the color accuracy is not very good
If it was a bit cheaper, I would buy a ton of them and make a wall of them....
Not gonna happen with the side facing connctor, you'd have gaps for the plugs making it unusable.
If they come up with a slightly thicker one where the cable goes flat in at the back with a Vesa mount on top? Yeah, i'd totally see that being done.
I see you alone

I’ve never held my breath so much, Linus handling that monitor bruh
5:45 they should 1000% make those a little thicker for a dual position stand.
Or even better, make a way more sturdy USB hub that's recessed and have a hub that can also act as a stand in some way. That way you can have the hub without the tether, maybe even with some sort of casting built in? So you can use it as a wiereless display.
Like a switch docking bay
If they make a 144hz 1080p one it might make a good laptop replacement.
You make a portable mini ITX PC. Add that display to it + a mechanical keyboard + mouse and you got yourself a gaming laptop replacement.
Anostio gaming laptops don’t have a battery life.
We put MicroITX servers in security cabinets for commercial and industrial accounts.

Nice product Linus.
I think a 12 inches monitor has to have like 1440p 120 or 144 hz instead of 4k 60. That will be interresting.
Exactly
Absolutely! 4K on such a small monitor is a waste of resources!
@@LuisC7 *Sony 4K phone nervously walk by*
Arsene Lupin why less resolution would be better?
@@leecaste lower resolutions require less gpu resources to run. If the pixel density at 1440p is already good enough for you, there isn't much point in it being 4k. You'll just be using more resources
Also, I think the differences in going from 60 to 120 hz would be more valuable than 1440p to 4k at that size of display

Replace the back panel with a sheet of Type 3 Hard Anodized Aircraft-grade Aluminum. It'd jack the price I'm sure, but would also make it sturdy enough to slap people with if you felt the urge.
