Yuba River Gold - Episode 101 - South Yuba Gold On A Sunny Spring Day

- We join forces with J.C., the Minin' Hawaiian, and new miner Nick to search for gold on the South Yuba. It is Springtime in the Northern California Motherlode. The weather is warm enough to ditch the sweatshirts. Emerald green pastures are highlighted with blooms of golden poppies. Mother Yuba is running strong and high. It's about time to get the 2024 mining season underway. We exercise our rights to mine on public land. Someone gets first gold. Someone else gets the biggest gold. Someone else gets the most gold. A tragedy is narrowly averted and a new miner gets edumucated with respect to the customary intricacies prospector's etiquette. Many smoke offerings are made and It's another fine day on the Yuba.

South yuba has a lot of flood gold. I used to work purden crossing. 40 years ago.
I went over there to move some boulders! Moved some 2,000 pounders and found DARN NEAR NOTHIN!!! My bet about the bedrock shelf underneath those boulders didn't pay off! So i didn't end up getting much more than aching muscles and a long hike back to the car!
Well, at least i know that that spot isn't hiding nuggets from me now!

With gold at ~$2,400.00, it's time to get serious about mining. It's rallied ~$400.00 since February 29; that's not even two months ago.
It's going higher. It might sell off and retrace a bit but the overall long-term trend is higher.
We like it when gold prices rise. However, its not all about the gold. Good times, with good friends in incredibly scenic places is the real gold. Aloha

Had no idea you could mine on the Yuba without a claim. I’m new to this and trying to learn more before I ever give it a try. I’m 55 and my dream is to find one picker before I die but all I have done so far is buy small nuggets at coin shows.
Then join us at the Nugget Hunt this year. Two or three years ago there was a young boy who joined us with his family and found two nice pickers in the very first pan of gold he ever did. Aloha

@@blueleadgoldproductions133 the little creek I dig at can get a quick raise in the levels. Used to keep a home made wooden box and a old school 12” wide sluice body down there to save the hike and well the creek giveuth and takeuth. Pack it in every time now. Head out Sunday. But I start too early for bankers. So you have to catch me one morning when the pillow fight goes to the fluffy one. 😆
