Scarlet Heroes has some tables for establishing relationships and immediate desires for NPCs which can be very helpful with establishing tone of dialogue. Also, a Song of Ice and Fire RPG has some mechanics for social combat which can give a little threat to social interactions, since in Game of Thrones losing at court could mean losing your life. Great points and I look forward to checking out the social cards!
I'm going to try the Fate Checks: Yes/No Questions & Detail Checks route. I'm using a 1D6 currently as my simplified Fate Chart to answer yes/no questions.
Thanks. I found that really helpful. As a new solo player the social side is really important and I’ve been creating my own system using many of the tools you mention. I really like your hit points and vulnerability to specific techniques approach for conflicts.
Hello, Shane! Thanks a lot for your kind words! If you drop by the Discord; one of our members actually improved my proposals and defined them into a very cool system, you could grab that too.
@@RedwoodRhiadra possibly in self promotion and searching for this video title. Take into account it's been a year, though, so my memory is a bit hazy.
I find my best solo dialogues come when I write them like a script. It keeps the dialogue moving and keeps me from feeling awkward about roleplaying to myself.
Thanks a lot Cameron! What’s the aspect of Ironsworn you like about dialogues? I, honestly, don’t recall right now how it’s done there, and I’m always open to learn something new!
RPG Tips well the moves that Ironsworn provides, such as Compel, Forge a Bond, etc paired with the oracles in the system itself give me a lot to work with when I am envisioning the motivations and dialogues with NPCs.
@@cameron.diamond I see! That makes sense. Indeed, Ironsworn's moves are quite powerful. I use them as shortcuts when I don't want to roleplay a whole scene.
Very similar to the health bar, i use the ironsworn track bar for social interactions. Same concept. I use the established reaction to the pc's, neutral, friendly ect to establish the difficulty for determining if i can get what i need / want from the npc.
Well done! indeed, the concepts are similar. The Ironsworn track bar is specially good because it allows you to assign different difficulties, being a bit more modular than pure clocks and less crunchy than health bars.
Well, one thing you don't have to worry about is if you don't have the Charisma your character has. If you roll for it the modifier affects it, not what you say.
First off... I have enjoyed your videos. You have a way of making the topic of Solo RPG'ing a bit more intriguing with the software stream-lining ideas that you have taken the time to share. With that said, I was wondering if you could take a few to put together your thoughts on the Mythic Game Master Emulator Deck. Going by what the PDF literature says that comes with the cards, it is supposed to be a blending of the Mythic Game Master Emulators from the original version, all the way to the concepts brought up in the latest Mythic Variations 2. I purchased the Mythic Deck, as well as The GameMaster's Apprentice: Fantasy Deck... both of which seem to be interesting options to use when dice either aren't available, or you just don't have the space in which to toss them around and then go back and forth with charts and results. Anyway, as I said, I'm just asking to see your thoughts. Thanks for putting these videos out there on Solo RPG'ing... they are much appreciated.
Hello Keith! Thank you for your kind words. Right now it's gonna be hard to produce a video about it, but if you drop by the Discord server we can have a chat about it, I love the GMA decks!
Is interesting you talk about doing dialog like fighting and i was thinking the same way. Im creating cards to generate various Things and one of them is combat Tactics. Example: Enemy Old the shild, trying to deflect your atacks wayting for the right moment to atack... This in a conversation means the person you are talking is earing you waiting to get something that he can turn the conversation on hes favour. I was thinking that tatics using in fight could be "translated" to dialog "fights".
That is even one step ahead of what I was talking about and definitely applicable! It’d be very interesting. Don’t hesitate in sharing your cards if you finish them!
@@RPGTips i actualy change my mind about generate tactics in the Cards to get a More abstract awaser. Instead of descriving the tactics i change to generate animals. I know at first looks like os nothing to do one thing to Other but it can be related. Example: Turtle - tactic that is extremely defensive and stady This translated to dialog means that the person you are talking defends hes point of view without "chaking" with your conversation. I use the personality of animal to generate the personality of the person and the reactions. Can be used to combat tatics to and becouse i have animal in the Card i can generate for exemplo a hunting for food 😁 Another exemple: Fox Tatic: enemie trys to show that they are weak to get you less aware of the situation and try to get you in the back if they succede. In dialog can be they are making as friend to you, Just to try to get something in his favour
i read about a solo game where you are in a communit, like mormon, and your goal is interact with these people that not give up easily about his statements, this game called "dogs in vienay" en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dogs_in_the_Vineyard
Hola Isidro!
"Unless your name is Trevor Devall". Wow, Me Myself and Die is already well known 3 years ago, and I just found out about it last January!
As always, very good video. You locate the weak spots of solo rpging and gives tools to improve them.
Keep up the good work 👌
