The run game is a quarterback's best friend, especially when the QB is struggling. The game planning needs improvement. Here's the thing being WR3 with the Eagles and Jalen Hurts as your QB... Jalen can't read defenses...so he very seldom makes it that far down in the route tree, and it's why he holds the ball too long waiting for receivers to work themselves open as opposed to intuitively throwing them open... he can only get through his first two progressions before either scrambling or throwing a ball where it doesn't belong being thrown... 2022 Jalen didn't have to worry about going to through the progressions because the ball was leaving his hand immediately to short or intermediate routes and AJ and Smitty made plays after the catch... since we haven't had another OC recognize that's how he looked so amazing they're dropping him straight back 5-7 step drops, no boots or anything else to help with the pressure he faces and he doesn't know which route is going to win against the coverage and make that the primary route, so he waits to see who will be open instead of throwing the receiver open by putting the ball in a spot for the receiver to get it. As sucky as that is, that's exactly why you've seen a "regression" from Jalen... although it's not really a regression because he never could read defenses and the RPO protected that throughout college and his first few years in the NFL... what did he have to learn from? Carson Wentz... another dude that proved he couldn't read defenses either. At this point, his career will be at a crossroads, and someone needs to either get him a QB coach that can teach him the coverages he's looking at, and what routes should be being primaried or they need to start running an offense that suits him... short-intermediate throws and let the play makers make plays after the catch, or they'll ruin a dude that has talent and can make the throws as long as that ball leaves his hands 2.5 seconds or less... it'll slow the rush down and he'll find deeper throws as the game moves on.

I disagree with you that he can’t read defenses. I agree that he does need to go back to Tom House to further his skill set. He does struggle with his decision making and ball placement sometimes post snap. Since the Super Bowl, I too have noticed that he struggles going through his progression but it appears like that when they have a two man route going. It’s either throw to the X or Y. He doesn’t need to lead the receivers open. He is more successful when he throws and makes decisions like Tom Brady/Drew Brees than Patrick Mahomes/Josh Allen. I agree with you he needs to get the ball out quicker and get more YAC yards.

@@ejjohnson8100 Show me ANY game tape after 2022 that makes you think he can read defenses... the dude literally cannot get past read two (AJ or Smitty)... his best completion rate is short/intermediate routes and his percentage drops DRAMATICALLY when he is forced to go beyond his first two reads... to the point that he's throwing interceptions and incompletions to running backs that are basically AT the line of scrimmage...All the QBs you mentioned ESPECIALLY Brady and Breeze throw to spots to lead the receivers open... Brady's entire career was made on throwing to the spot because the dude is slow af and could never scramble if he had to so his routes were all on timing and throwing receivers open instead of waiting for them to work themselves open... Brees a little less so, but definitely more so in his later years... If you wanna take shots down the field, that's fine, but do it after you have stopped the rush through quick passes and force the defense to play single high because they need to keep more defenders in the box and use the running game, especially with Saquon there... force the defense to put 8 dudes in the box and you'll have your deep throws... a QB that knows how to read defenses would be looking for those routes, not the homerun ball all the time.

Every sign points to Sirianni being the problem. The Super Bowl season was down to the coordinators, not Sirianni. The good aspects in the first 2/3 games were down to Moore calling decent/solid games. We all saw Sirianni repeatedly passing on 3 points with Elliott and ended up with nothing. Promote Moore and pick up a pash rusher, this with the weak on paper schedule, should fill up the win column.

At the beginning of training camp we lost DeJean and had to move Quinyon to nickel. Then on the last day of camp we lose Rodgers then we have to move Quinyon back outside and put Maddox, who had been playing safety all camp, to nickel. Jalen rarely looks for a third receiver. Zaccheus was open a ton of times last year and Jalen bypassed or missed him. The Eagles should work their offense from the inside out giving Jalen quick options in the middle of the field. We need more slants, curls and crossing routes. Jalen should work short route to long route not long route to short route. 4 verticals is not a good strategy for Hurts. He has to get out of looking for the big play and take the underneath stuff.

Hurts holds onto the ball to long, has slow arm action, is inaccurate and can't get through his reads and if you know any football you see it in every game.

If they lose two of those games then ditch Nick and promote Kellen Moore. Do not hire old ass Belicheck no matter how many people cry for it. Remember Hurts is turning over the ball, not the coaches. Personally, I'm not very confident they can turn into a real contender this year. They have a lot of talent but the coaching philosophy doesn't seem to suit the players. We were talking about the EXACT same thing last year when they went on their run from hell. But here we are again, having the same problems. Like, literally the same problems. I'm getting flashbacks while typing this. We can all speculate on what the problem is but we'll really never know what's going on behind the scenes. Coaching, players, who knows, it could be anything. But, either way, it's SO incredibly frustrating seeing the same things that lost us all of those games last year STILL happening. Ugh, I really hope they turn it around. I think they'll have their moments of everything coming together and dominating but they won't be able to do it as often as they need to to win the SB. They'll probably have a few more of these klunkers...Let's hope not. It could be worse. At least, at a minimum, you know there's a chance that we play a solid game. Some have it worse..look at the Jaguars. They're hopeless.

@@reneegolovacha1880 have to follow the bread crumbs. Sirianni offense is derived from mike McCoy who was the head coach of the then San Diego chargers where Philip rivers had his best statistical seasons as a QB which had no motion by the way and had the QB get rid of the ball quick something hurts cannot do. Point #2 the all 22 reveals all missed reads constantly and never goes through progression this was obvious last hence Aj brown’s frustration go back and watch the Vikings and Seahawks game last year. #3 the reason Sirianni looks foolish post game is he constantly falling on the sword for Hurts ultimately we have a athlete that’s masquerading as a QB and not a QB first.

Kellen Moore has always produced highly efficient offenses in Dallas and with the Chargers. Suddenly he arrives in Philly and we see this mess? I know Hurts is struggling, but could it be that he’s struggling due to trying to learn Moore’s offense in the preseason but since the regular season has started Sirianni is meddling with it???
Remove Hurts - Eagles still struggle in a sporadic offense.
Remove Sirianni - The entire team’s energy will lift and Hurts will settle into precisely what he saw in Moore’s playbook and the Eagles take off.
Howie, as good as he is at acquiring talent, maneuvering the draft and handling the budget; is just like Jerry Jones when it comes to hiring head coaches (Lurie gives him too much autonomy here IMO)..both hire “yes men” types. I said it when Pederson stepped down: Hire Duce Staley!! He is sharp, would’ve brought an old school toughness to the team, and while professional and cooperative is definitely NOT a “yes man.” He has more leadership in his pinky than practically every member of the present Eagles coaching staff. The players intensity, grit, attention to detail, tenacity and level of play and consistency would be immediately evident. Sirianni laid a poor foundation with easy overly player friendly preseason camps, buddying up to the veterans in front of the rookies and younger players, not playing starters at all for the entire preseason, getting too emotionally involved in the game like a Fan (needing Big Dom to keep him under control), implementing a basic high school level offense, etc
Hurts deserves some of the blame, but the quiet cancer in that locker room is the HC. IMO

Has anyone questioned Jalen Hurts' intelligence? Maybe he's not smart enough to run an NFL offense. Shane Steichen had to dumb down the offense in 2022 because he wasn't comprehending it.
