Very well done video, please I would like to know is it important that the camera stays still during the calibration? or I can hold it in my hands during the calibration phase, many thanks to help me

Thanks for the clarity! Random GIO Scope question. Given that the GIO Scope taps into the raw sensor data, is it still a reliable exposure tool when a gig requests recording only pro res and using the legacy pipeline, so REDgamma4 for example?
No - But you can learn which colors correspond to what within a Rec709 slice by testing - it will vary by ISO, but you can get a feel for it. I hate it when "higher ups" are technically illiterate... I feel you man.
why you recommend manual calibration on Helium, Gemini and Monstro and auto calibration on Dragon? I don'thave a problem with that but just want to understand the reason. Thanks for these helpful video.
Hi, I am a DP based in Bangalore, last month I shoot in Dragon and I did auto calibration. Still I got grains in the footage, it was a chroma shoot. Even de-graining is failing. Is there anything else I can do. The goal post, and scopes are showing data which is of good exposure. There are no under exposed or over exposed areas.
You'll get a visual indicator on the T- it'll change from green to yellow or red. Either adjust your fan settings to bring temp back down (fan working harder) or recalibrate if the temp is colder than your initial cal.
Hey pls pls I need your help. I am a red user. I own 4 red cameras. 1 comodo, 2 raven and I just bought the red epic used from a guy in phili. Pls help me. I cannot get audio in even though I have mics connected but when I go to audio source in the menu, it doesn’t show source. Pls help for I have a very important project coming up in 3 days boss. Reason y I bought the 4th one. Pls help. Thank you
What about 72 fps there is no 1/150 shutter speed on body only 1/144 is seen I am calibrating manually for 24 fps shutter 172.8 degree that is 1/50,48fps 1/100,72fps there is 0only 1/144,& for 96 fps 1/200 what about 72 fps is it ok with 1/144
Very well explained. I know an owner who does a black shade after every time the camera boots up, and I've always found that somewhat ridiculous.
Any examples out there of damaged footage from going between 2 extreme environments?
I love the RED Tech videos. Please keep making them.
Great Thanks for this very important and helpful video! Thank you very very very much!
Thank you so much, well explained !
Thanks for the explanation
GREAT VIDEO GUYS!!!! Keep em' coming. Thanks for the clarity on this.
Awesome thanks
Definitely helpful, thanks! Love my RED.
Great Video. Thanks
This is awesome, thank you!!!
What is the ideal idle temperature for the Helium Sensor?
After reading through the forums and doing tests. I've settled on setting the fan temp target for 44°
This was really helpful!

What about Auto Calibration option on RED EPIC X-MX 5K? Is that right or should get Manual Calibration?
Does my camera automatically change through my previous calibrations depending on my shutter speed ect?

Legend!
Nice video - work this with a Komodo and the Ranger, too ??? ...
Do you need to perform a separate black shade for different Frame rates?

I would also like to know that. And how manyi calibration should we run in manual mode?
This shoe my ignorance, but why would run the sensor hotter or colder than 38 degrees?

All the Dragon bodies in Bangalore are abused. That's why. :D
I wonder why I paid for the REDucation if you now publish all the secrets anyway.
Basic operation of a camera is not exactly a secret. This info is also in the manual.
Why does my red dragon scarlet W 5k glitches when I just turn it on ?
How do I fix it? Anyone? And also it has become kinda slow .
What about Komodo? AUTO or MANUAL?
Thanks !! Whats the Range a temperature setting will be good before another Temperature Calibration should be made - is the range of 5C either way
