Yeah dude I agree. It's absolutely amazing. In the outtakes on the DVD they show it. And Tony Jaa is just completely exhausted. Incredible sequence, timing, and physical skill.
Basically what I was about to write. Let martial artists do what they do best, let the camera rolling, no parkinsonian camera, no fast cuts (though of course, this elongated scene is something to behold, not anyone could pull it off…)
Apparently according to the director on the special edition DVD, this no-cut scene took 5 takes to perfect, for reasons such as the safety mat not being in place in time (when he throws them off the balcony I assume?) and some furniture etc. not breaking as it's supposed to. Anyway I love Tony Jaas' style and the cameraman seems to have a special talent here too.
I came here from John Woo's one continuous take from the Hard Boiled Hospital shootout scene... and I find this more fun. Maybe it is because of the absence of the PEW PEW! factor :P
Westerners strength is on their muscles but Asians fight using their flexibility , agility and always depend more on their internal strength than muscles
Ooooooh I saw this on a WatchMojo countdown. This scene took several days to film, and the cameraman's hand got damaged from the strain. The Raid had a lovely one-shot sequence like this too. Pity it got cut.
Ben Nyakundi IKR! According to a comment on The Raid 2, some of those guys were wise enough to play dead, when they saw Rama mowing down men from a side lol lol. I like how Jaa just gripped the girl's knife hand and lightly pushed her over lol lol lol. I had to hit replay. I wonder how big her breakfast bowl of stupid was that morning :D
Are you crazy? That's some serious form of Aikido mixed with Karate (it seems) and trust me, it may seem simple, but's complex and difficult as fuck to learn it.
It's muay thai with an emphasis on grappling moves, to create the style 'muay kodchasaan' which literally means elephant boxing. The simplicity is evident in the roundhouse kicks, powerful, fast and effective, with no spinning around.
Did you know the director of the raid was welsh?Seems weird that white guy is directing an Indonesian movie but you can tell he's much more comfortable with the freedom given to him in Asian cinema
oh lordy it makes me wanna be able bodied! one long shot with much ass kicking and the final words 'Where Are My Elephants?", what nobler cause to be Greenpeace ass kicking warrior than for animals. yea I'm species biased coz human put me da wheel chair
Brief story: Village guy had a few elephants. Elephants are some magical creatures, that are blah blah blah... Bad guys stole his elephants, so the main character went to the city, kicked some ass and killed some people just to get his elephants back. He got only 1 back.
Asian martial artists usually have a strong bond with spirit and there religion..which creates a respect...atleast thats what i learnt from all the tony jaw movies...
Este luchador a mi parecer es actualmente sino el mejor, uno de los mejores ya que combina varias artes y dispone de gran flexibilidad y muchísima velocidad,y todos sabemos que la velocidad puede matar.

That has to be the best one camera shoot ever. Notice the fight scene up all the way up the stairs was done 'live' with no edits.

How could part two of the protector suck so badly?
One of the greatest long shots and steady cam shots ever!
Amazing performance from everyone during the fight scene. No cuts is crazy!
Exquisite choreography...Not only of the seen performers, but also, and in some respects, mainly of the cinematographers...truly amazing...
Don't mess with John Wick Dog and Tony Jaa Elephant
One of the most badass fight sequence of all martial arts movies.
Almost no cuts while he´s fighting his way upstairs! Just great!
Nice camera shot and an unbelievable fight
The most impressive thing about this is that it was a one take and the camera work was amazing!
Yeh this is the most incredible scene ever, in every way.

@@blueonblack83 Makes it even more realistic !
A mate of mine, more versed in cinematic stuff, saw ONE cut in this scene. Which doth not make the movie less great !
Bruce Lee did great fight scenes, but we can't deny the greatness this scene has to offer.
the fact its continuous makes it way better

tony jaa one of the best martial artists that exist !!
What he does is not very complicated... the fact that he does it in one single take however...
Makes it more realistic anyway. Best forms of combat for street use ARE simple, and can easily be performed under pressure.
What he does isn't complicated, and that's what makes it more bad ass.
I like to see you do it
