    I'm used to doing these types of photos with 1 month or younger. I have a 2 month old I'm photographing tomorrow so I was looking for inspiration. I was originally going to photograph this baby within the first couple weeks. This makes me glad to see something like this could still be possible

    I love your work. The way you handle babies is awesome. You click superb pics. My daughter's a month old but due to covid, I couldn't arrange a photoshoot for her so will try by myself at home.
    Can you just tell me how to prepare the bed? What bed sheet cloth you using ? I saw those 'clips' to tightly hold the bed sheet and I ordered them online but have no idea about bed sheet cloth. Please let me know.

    • @MyBigCamera

      Thank you so much! We use a large bean bag but it could be possible to try on a bed as well. I would recommend layering several blankets underneath the fabric. We use several fleece blankets. They should be thin blankets, not comforters. We then use a textured blanket as our main posing blanket or a stretchy jersey type of fabric. Stretchy fabrics work best to help to avoid wrinkles. Hope that helps!

    Your baby is beautiful and this was an extremely helpful video! Do you have a recommendation for diaper covering when photographing boys? I know a wrap works well for some pictures, but what about the bum up?

    • @MyBigCamera
      @MyBigCamera  3 роки тому +1

      Thank you so much! I'm so glad that you found it helpful! For boys I like to use a lot of knitted pants but cloth diaper covers work well too. Sometimes you can find some for cheap in thrift stores. They're the ones that would have belonged to a little girl dress and is usually just a solid coloured fabric. If you can find one small enough for a newborn, those work great. I also have a set of coloured cloth diaper covers that I purchased off of etsy many years ago. I don't remember the shop but if you look for cloth diaper cover prop, something should come up. Hope that helps!

    Loved the vid❣️ how do prep for this type of sessions? Do you do them around the time babies typically take their nap?

    • @MyBigCamera
      @MyBigCamera  4 роки тому

      Thanks!! If possible, yes that works the best, especially the older the baby is. But babies that are a month old or less can really only be awake for short periods of time anyway so the timing shouldn't matter too much however I do find that babies sleep better during the day.

    • @melissazepeda6043
      @melissazepeda6043 4 роки тому +1

      I dont have any problem working with nbs but I cant get older babies to fall asleep. Around a Month-2months old

    • @MyBigCamera
      @MyBigCamera  4 роки тому +2

      @@melissazepeda6043 around two months or older, I would recommend trying to do it closer to their nap time. But most of the time, the baby will be awake and I will photograph them just like a 3 month old. We have two videos on posing 3 month olds on our channel. If the baby enjoys being swaddled, I usually try to wrap them and that can usually get them asleep. Sometimes if they get tired enough during a session and it's close to their nap time they will fall asleep. I recently had a set of 7 month old twins and one of them fell asleep at the end of the session so I was able to get a couple shots of her sleeping in a bowl. But I would say after 8 weeks I generally wouldn't bother trying to get sleeping poses unless they seem sleepy toward the end of the shoot and then I will try wrapping them and see if they fall asleep for 1 or two shots.

    • @MyBigCamera
      @MyBigCamera  4 роки тому +1

      It really depends on the baby, most 3 month olds will likely not sleep like this unless it's your own baby and they're comfortable with you. However it will work with some babies up to 2 months old. We just photographed a 7 week old baby and were able to get newborn type shots with him

    What pillows/posing beans did you use and how did you place them?

    • @MyBigCamera
      @MyBigCamera  3 роки тому

      These are the ones that I have: amzn.to/3lM5tJP and I just slide them in under all of the layers of blankets. I usually use about 4-4-5 fleece blankets underneath my posing fabric and I slide the pillows under all of that. They work really great. I used to have to shove a bunch of towels under there and build it up to where I want the baby positioned but the posing beans are nice and firm and the perfect sizes to be able to just slide one underneath where I need it. I tend to use the biggest one for the head on arms position, the medium sized ones for bum up and the small one when I just need a bit of an extra lift or I just want to lift the bum or legs a tiny bit. Hope that helps!

    • @MyBigCamera

      @@diagalfel I use one strobe with a plm umbrella from paul buff, the light is turned away from the baby and is reflected back by the silver inner lining of the umbrella and through the white softbox fabric on to the baby. I also have a reflector on the other side to fill in shadows. That's all I use for all my sessions, just one light with the plm umbrella

    Can this post be use on 3 months baby?

    • @MyBigCamera
      @MyBigCamera  4 роки тому

      I would say that it's best for babies 2 months and under but it really depends on the baby. I've had a 6 month old baby in the studio that I was able to photograph sleeping but that's pretty rare. My daughter was really good at staying asleep like this up until 7 months old but I would say most babies are not like that
