At age 83 I can say I've been a Mets fan since Day One. I came to NY in 1962 from Mass. and the Mets came into MLB at the same time. What a pleasure it was to see all the Mets I've loved the last 60 years. Thank you Steve Cohen!

What will he do if Musk buys a team?
There are way too many bad teams now.
Betting lines on games usually exceed 200,sometimes 300 and 400.
A salary cap must be instituted before the games all resemble the Harlem Globetrotters vs the Washington Generals.

I am 62 years old and can remember when my father, grandfather and uncle took me to Shea Stadium when I was about 5 or 6 years old to see Willie Mays play. He and his Giants teammates crushed the Mets that day and he hit a monster home run. Little did I know he would eventually become a Met himself. What a classy move by the NY Mets to honor Willie Mays by retiring his number. It actually brought tears to my eyes when I heard Howie Rose say the words “until now” in is remarks today. This was a great day for the NY Mets organization and an honor that was long overdue. How is it that prior ownership never thought to follow through on Joan Payson’s promise? Congratulations Willie and thank you for the great plays and the great memories.

Because you were Joan Pasons favorite player in the1950's....Wilt Chamberlin was Pasons favorite basketball player too... It's great to see all of the former players, whom made it to the game. I miss Seaver, and McGraw. Rusty Staub, too. They would have made this game, if they were still with us. As fans, we have so much to celebrate and be thankful for. Let's recall that the Mets were created to fill the void left by the exodus of the Dodgers and Giants, to California. There have been many bad times for our club, but they made it to the show in '69,'73,'86,2000 and 2015. I can remember all of them, and am proud to see them get there. OMG… Wow! I will confess I am a San Francisco Giants fan… But I am also a baseball fan in the truest sense. If you didn’t get chills while watching this video you probably don’t have a pulse. This was beautiful. I was 12 years old in 1969 when we all went crazy watching that World Series. Even on West Coast we had Metmania. You folks have a beautiful history, We shared a lot of The players. Was so nice that Willie Mays got acknowledged by you folks. He was my hero growing up, The tribute you gave to him was absolutely beautiful. Yes we all have our favorite teams during the season but a true baseball fan appreciates all baseball and the history.
Also… Growing up in Pacifica I’ve been a Keith Hernandez fan since I was eight years old. He was one of the older kids we all knew who he was… He was a star back then. I played on the same pony league team Four years after him… Lous Phillips 66. You Mets fans have a lot to be proud of. The Giants are pretty done this year… But good luck to you folks the rest of the season and in the postseason.

My first game was also at 7 in 1976. Mets lost to the Phillies. My mom's women's club chartered a bus for a big crowd to Shea. Bus had a fender bender on the way home. Until about 10 years ago, I still had the year book, pennant, and Oakland A's batter's helmet she bought me at the souvenir shop. My cousin was trying to talk into a Mets hat, buy everything I owned had to be green. And I had one of those jackets with the little baseball patches. it had two rows down the front and a bunch on the back. I think american league was red, national league was blue. Mine was red. It had Yankees, but no mets.

Yes indeed Aurora. When the Mets played at Shea Stadium, there was nothing like the late great Jane Jarvis playing her tune "Let's Go Mets" as the Mets ran out onto the field. This was usually followed by her stirring rendition of the National Anthem. The only thing missing from yesterday was the Star Spangled Banner's lyrics being displayed -- they were displayed one line at a time from top to bottom on the big message area on the original scoreboard at Shea Stadium. It took two passes from top to bottom to display all the lyrics.

Loved watching this as a Yankees fan! So much great history on display. One part in particular that got to me was during Mays speech when he thanks Steve Cohen. Mets fans cheered loudly for him, as they should because he is an incredible owner. Just struck a cord with me considering just a week earlier Hal was booed (deservedly as well) loudly by Yankee fans during O'Neill's jersey retirement ceremony. I can't help but be jealous of the tremendous owner you now have and his relationship with your fanbase (hopefully Hal will one day sell and collect his possibly $10 billion inheritance from his dad so we can have an owner we love as well). Also, seeing all this made me really hope that more of these types of tradition days become a part of the Mets culture. Cohen certainly has the commitment and money to make it happen. I'd love for jersey retirements for Strawberry, Carter, Gooden and Wright within the next few years at least.

I’m a 63 year old girl from Iowa and have been a fan since our cable network added station WOR. They played Mets games all of the time and that’s where my love of the game and the team began. I’d say the year was around 1985. I watched as they won the ‘86 World Series! I even found a “Metsopoly” game that features the players of the ‘86 team. I always tried to watch as we moved outside of the country for my husband’s job, but it wasn’t always possible. I still love the game and watch almost every game nearly 40 years later. Thank you Mr, Cohen for taking control of the franchise and all the wonderful things you do for them! LGM!

I was 5 yrs. old in 1962 when the Mets came to New York - I can still remember how brokenhearted the Giants and Dodgers fan's were when they left for the West Coast - my dad was a Dodger fan but he loved The Say-Hey - Kid - Willie Mays and the Orange and Blue would live again in one Magical team - The New York Mets - I still remember those tough early years - Casey Stengel the o'l perfessor - I believe coined by The Great Bill Gallo of the N.Y. Daily News . Seaver-Koosman-Ryan-Cardwell The 1969 Mets pitching staff - my favorite Met Eddie Kranepool because he wore the same number 7 like Mickey Mantle did . The Mets should retire no.7 - ED KRANEPOOLS too .Cleon Jones-Jerry Grote-Bud Harrelson-Tommie Agee - and all the 69 Mets - Thank YOU and all METS over the years - and Joan Payson . I LOVE THE N.Y. Nice to see the Mets finally retired number 24. I always said, either retire it or put it back in circulation. That's been settled, once and for all. Mays remained enormously popular in New York long after the Giants left town, so it was fitting that he was able to end his career there.

I used to watch these games as a youth (I am 59) and I was so happy to hear you were bringing this back. Unfortunately, I now live most of the time in South Carolina so there was no way to view this (I do have the MLB app and I pay to see the regular games). Maybe Joe Torre isn’t quite over how the Yankees organization parted ways with him. It was great to see him and other former Mets managers at Citi Field as well. Bobby Valentine in the infamous “disguise” was hysterical. Willie Randolph looked genuinely happy to be there. I always felt former ownership did a classless thing firing him on a west coast road trip and making him fly back without the team.

Congrats to ory Steve Cohen!! THX for bringing the import back to Mets History. The Opening montage of the history was Fan...tastic. That's spot on: The Mets have a Superlative History of Pitchers from Roger Craig (Who invented the Split Finger FB - when he was pitching coach for Astros), to Tom Seaver, Jerry Koosman, Jon Matlack, Nolan Ryan (The Flame Thrower - the Worst Trade in Baseball History), to Doc Gooden, to Matt Harvey, Jacob DeGrom, and on & on, as Farm Hands!! Loved the retirement of Willie Mays' Number 24!! That was Class, real Class. I watched Cleon Jones' in a post OTD public press conderence who immaculate words about Wille Mays. I'm 71 yo, and watched Wille play when the Giants played the Mets. I agree whole heartedly with Cleon, he was the Best Ball Player I ever saw to this day. He was the true 5 Tool Player.
