To add onto this, jimmy’s last few days he was suffering so much from his condition, and those around him said they barely recognized him at the time. He knew his time was up so he went out on his own. 3 days before he passed he had finished writing a song the band now calls “Fiction” which you definitely should checkout. The song was basically him saying goodbye. He’s done some backing vocals for the band before and they kept some of his vocals from the demo version of the song to the final version. He also played piano which is played throughout this song as well.
This was the band of my teenage years, I absolutely idolised them. The Rev had a condition with his heart that meant he would likely die young, which apparently plagued him a lot. He died at 28 of an overdose, though his family insist it wasn't intentional, there is a lot of speculation that it was. Another song by Avenged Sevenfold called "Brompton Cocktail" is eerily similar to the Rev's story, and a song the Rev wrote a few days before his death - called "Fiction" - seems to some to be a suicide note.
Ah the A7X finally 😀 So many good songs by this band that I listen to this day especially Seize the Day, Afterlife, Danger Line, Dear God, Hail to the King and this one you reacted. Yep, The Rev sadly passed away at just 28 from an overdose. The sadness of growing older is that one has to witness the band is growing older too, starting to lose the vocals of it's prime 😣 but also blessed that it keeps going. On the other hand though, about childhood, got to tell you I am reliving my childhood days. How cool is that! 7 years living in this rural area as a teacher, these teen kids take me to the river for a swim after school, rides the little Ferraris of plank and ball-bearings on slopes, sliding down the hill... Oh the joy in my heart that electronics can't control them 😁 Have a bless day dost 😊
P.S. my youtube handle is anotherchowdhury where chowdhury is my last name which is fairly common in my country, Bangladesh. That's why I put another in front of it cause I'm just another chowdhury out of all others. 😅
Alright it's my time to say story time @larryshair. This is a ode to their childhood friend, the drummer James Sullivan aka The Rev. He dies of alcohol overdose. Through his life he said a lot of times that he thought he won't make it past 30 and he passed at 28. My heart still cries for him whenever I hear this song. Rest in peace THE REV. I'm so glad of your reaction and the fact you had so much to relate and share with this video. I'll wait for my other suggestions for you to react. Till then. Take care.
I just heard this song not to long ago and man I listened to it on repeat for a whole day I have so many friends who’ve I lost along the way… dealing with my own battles I just love this song
Wow. Loved the song and the visuals. It quickly reminded me about those beautiful times when all I needed to feel happiness was my bike and some change in my pocket for a can of soda or an ice cream. Loved the reaction as always! 😊
@@Sandy_justme 👋😊 I don't know to be honest. Really tough therapy session yesterday. I shared my biggest fear/trauma for the first time. Only Patti and Papa Chris knew about it until now 🥺 I'm really embarrassed of it... and I'm now overthinking if it was a good idea 🥺
That’s awesome that you’ve been able to do that!! I understand how difficult it is to trust enough to open up, I still have stuff I can’t talk about yet, so I do get it, but you know what, that is real progress my friend, and you need to be proud of yourself, I’m proud of you! And remember what Chris said “carpe diem” and you HAVE!!🙌❤️
Wow. Hold on for a wild ride. I suggest starting their catalog in order. They were great from the start but to hear them evolve is such a great experience... hope you enjoy.
Always been a favorite song of mine. Like so many people have said once the videos play I cry. You feel their pain watching everything they went through with him. I find it beautiful how they keep Jimmy's memory alive at their shows whether it's having his picture so far away or his voice during certain songs. When I saw them in March and I heard afterlife and then Jimmy's voice I started crying because this amazing talent was taken away far too soon. Put the real tearjerker for me I did the VIP experience and in the cabinet they had early pictures of the band. A pair of Jimmy shoes some of his backstage passes two of his drumsticks a pair of his favorite shorts and then his memorial booklet from his memorial service. And I felt like this warm loving Spirit and the VIP guy I was telling my friend what I was feeling and the guy goes that's exactly how the guys described Jimmy. But I've yet to see this song played live
I think you would like One more time by Blink182, Noone died thankfully but 2 members came close (cancer, and a plane accident) that in both cases brought the band back together after splitting up.
An absolutely legendary song by Avenged Sevenfold is "a little piece of heaven", you should react to that next. Edit: four minutes in and you've got me going down memory lane. See I'm a millennial, we grew up right as technology was becoming big but my friends and I always hung out outside. Out in the creek or tearing up the small town we lived in. It got me thinking what ever happened to face to face contact? Why are we all so very afraid of human conversation? If you ask me, life felt better.... simpler back then.
Hey, I know its been a while since you listened to twenty one pilots but PLEASE to listen to the Ode to Sleep music video, I geniunely think it is the best way to introduce you to twenty one pilots, and I think you'll really like it.
No matter how many times I watch this video, everytime the home videos come along, I’m a wreck
@@vanhalenfreak2000 I agree 💯
Jimmy had heart enlargement and health issues. He was also a rock star. He knew his time was coming . foREVer

Great review as always 👏. Sadly ‘the rev’ passed away from an overdose, an amazing drummer and his music lives on
