Long-lasting, if not permanent, effect of trauma indeed. Handled brilliantly, Tara! 🙏🏻❤️ He still had so much adrenaline rushing at the stable door, combined with more shadows-but again, with patience, assurance, and trust, Farouk tapped into his original bravery. This experience reminds of why it’s such a blessing he’s come to and remained with you. 🙏🏻❤️
Beautiful, lovely Farouk. Thank goodness he found you, and thank goodness you understand him so well. He is such a lovely boy. And you are such a lovely horse-person!
Fear imprinting as a young horse or dog can last a lifetime. My Aussie would always spook at noises that frighten him as a puppy. He never completely outgrew that.
Me too. I've been with Tara for several years now and experienced the bolt, the white splash bottle dismount, and other various upheavals. This one touched my heart though. To see him go from loose rein, relaxed, and mellow to so frightened was heartbreaking. 😢
Poor Farouk he had the scare of his life, thank god the lorry driver was a nice kind and considerate driver. Good job Tara that you kept your cool. Bless him when he got home it was still fresh in his mind. Love to all ❤❤❤❤❤❤
I'm soo glad that you have Farouk Tara, the way he was treated at such a young age was horrifying to watch. I am glad you were able to take him away from that place. You have done an amazing job at undoing some of the damage caused. Even though he does still have his spooks at times your method of training has done wonders for him. It's lovely to see, I love how patient and kind you are with all of your horses. You're amazing 😊
Thank God the lorry driver was an aware guy. The way some people drive past horses is frightening in itself but had he not stopped and waited for you and Farouk to get past, OMG it's horrific just thinking about it. Poor Farouk, having passed one giant & one little monster (the stick), the stable door had to look like a mouth to him.
Only one thing I question. When you dismounted, should the stirrups not have been run up? Farouk was having difficulty and, had he spooked, his leg could get caught in a flopping stirrup.
Well done Tara and a loud thank you to the driver for switching the engine off. I thought back to the day he ran off down that long road after your event. Thank goodness that didn’t happen. Good he doesn’t like jumping hedges too thought he might have gone over or through it. Phew 🤞🤞🤞🐎🐎🐎definitely needs his carrots 🥕🥕🥕
Farouk has such a gorgeous coat color. Poor guy. He seems to be saying “can’t we just stand quietly outside together mum?” He really did a great job while under saddle. He listened to you really well.
I have such admiration for your calmness, undoubtedly it helps Farouk when he is worried. Fantastic driver too, patiently waiting. Poor Farouk, a killer stick waiting in the road also. ❤
Tara, you handled the situation beautifully…… You know him so well, and he definitely trusts you to keep him safe! Your calm, reassuring voice and patience helped him work through the fright. Giving Farouk a stud muffin was a great idea! So glad REN’s stepped in the stall……more comforting presence for Farouk! 🥰🥰🥰🐴🥰🥰🥰
Oh, poor darling Farouk. It brings tears to my eyes. He is so sweet and sensitive. And Tara, you are amazing. I’m pretty sure I’d have been on my butt on the road or in the bushes! Farouk’s life certainly took a lucky turn the day you came into it. 👍👏🥰
Initially I was thinking how quickly he came back from the run away from the lorry, but then it just proves what a sensitive soul Farouk is. He was still thinking about that lorry when he got back home. Stud muffin reward.....hope it helps.
Aweee Farouk your ok lad.He will always be that way occasionally bless they never forget. Your home now beautiful boy.First time indeed he was upset.tfs😎🏇😎
Tara, your yard is so stunningly beautiful that it looks like a toy Schleich stable my daughters played with! 😂 You must both work so hard to maintain it all.
Moving shadow and huge white "W" on the side of the truck. Well handled Tara! And praise to the lorry driver. Poor boyo...that really scared him. He was having such a lovely relaxing ride up to that point.
What is that huge flying white “W” on that lorry, mum. I thought it was going to jump off and eat me! Is it hiding in there? Poor darling. What a sweetheart.❤❤❤
I always appreciate sensible drivers who slow down or stop when passing a horse. It’s amazing how clueless some drivers can be when they go roaring by. I’m glad the owner of this truck was not one of those!
That was very good of that red truck driver to stay, turn off the engine & waited for Farouk to safely pass after that frightening scare. Farouk thought it was a big red & white monster👹👺was going to eat him. 😳🫣😬Poor Faroukles least he realised mum was there to protect & encourage him. Well handle Tara❤❤❤.
Oh Tara you are an amazing horse lady the way you handled Farouk in this very tricky situation, he has complete trust in you and that lorry driver was very good he realised that Farouk was anxious and switched his engine off which was helpful. He is home safe and well I’m sure he will be fine tomorrow.❤
That was so upsetting. Dear gentle Farouk. He's such a beautiful boy. I don't want to know what happened to him before you got him. Thank goodness he's with someone who understands him. He had such a troubled look in his eyes.x
Sweet sweet Farouk...Lowry driver was very considerate an very patient with the situation....such a blessing ✨ 💖 💓 oh give your boy extra hugs...from your herd member...😊😇🤗🥰🤠
I’m going to join in with my “poor Farouk”. He made me feel so sad. And mad. When I think about what his past must have been like. You answered my question about how to “unspook” them. Can you not train that out of him? I still worry about him scooting out from under you one day. I’ve never seen a horse with his phobias. Plenty of people but not horses. 😁 Sending tons of hugs to him. Poor baby.
That lorry scared me! It looked fine from the front, but the side was huge, with white, and shadows.... oh, so much! I've heard that horses can get claustrophobic. I can imagine Farouk wanted to be OUT so he could run away! And then once he was inside his "house", he felt safe again. Comfort food helps too! ❤
Bless your heart Farouk. Bless him. Being afraid can last a life time. 😢 Thank God you have the patience with him Tara. He’s definitely with the right owner. You’re such a sweet boy Farouk and you are so admired and loved. 💙🐴❣️
My Arab mare very much the same. She’s 12 and has frights. It’s very sad but I still love her. I ride her only where I know we will not be in any distress and still once in awhile she finds something. ❤️
That was so brave of him to face the peril and walk through it. It's such a shame that humans find it entertaining to see handlers do what they do to Arabian's in the show ring.
What an understanding lorry driver. It could so easily have gone dreadfully wrong had he not realised the situation, killed his engine and waited for you to be safe. Aw bless Farouk, that really scared him. Thank God he is with you. You have such a kind, patient nature with him. I have a little Shih Tzu who is a rescue. She was handed into a rescue less than 2 years old having been passed from pillar to post.she came to me on foster and I very quickly discovered she had been picked up and shaken and possibly thrown. She used to cry into my chest when I held her and comforted her and was terrified by any sudden movement. I couldn’t let her go on somewhere else as she was accepted lovingly by my other two shih tzu at the time and had settled with us. Her situation had hit me in the solar plexus so I decided to adopt her. She is thirteen now and even though she has had only love and care from me, she will run from any sudden movement or loud noise. She also cries under her breath if she is picked up although she trusts us to do it now. I love her with all my heart but I totally agree with you Tara whatever is done to them in those formative early years can scar them for life.❤❤
Kudos to you Tara and to the lorry driver! Huge bouquets to Farouk, he did not completely lose his mind and, after some ducking and weaving, he put some distance between himself and the lorry! Good move Farouk ❤
Poor Farouk. Such a shame he was treated that way in his past. Happy he has found a safe home with you 💖 Bolting strikes fear in me. I can handle most other things, but bolting shakes me to the core. Well done by you, Tara 💖
I wondered if it might have been the giant white W on the lorry that frightened him so badly. Poor Farouk. It just takes a little time to calm down. But he’s such a good soul, isn’t he?
He probably thought the stick/moving shadow looked snake-y, just to add to the trauma. Farouk is the sweetest boy. Have his eyes gone back to their normal size? @_@ PS: Love Rens' shirt :D
I think he felt a bit trapped by that parked van too. It happened at the worst possible Faroukle moment, didn’t it? Poor boy. He tries so hard and was having a lovely day so at least he had especially good experiences with you all these years. Got you both through it unscathed…almost 😂❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉😅😅😅
Oh bless him poor lad,his eyes said it all, very spooked. Well handled Tara 👍🏻 Thankfully the lorry driver had enough sense and patience not to make the situation any worse. Glad you’re both home safe and sound 🤗🐎🥕
I teared up seeing your precious beauty Farouk so traumatized & scared by the huge snarling red monster. He really was filled with fear & adrenaline. I wanted to kiss his nose & give him a good neck rub. Sending love to my favorite boy. ❤❤
That was some warm up ride right before an Endurance Challenge. I'm tired just watching...then the SPOOK😱 at the end. Hopefully by tomorrow he will have his confidence back for the event.
His fear of white things probably stems from the horrendous vid of him as a young horse in Arab Emirates, as all the men scaring him and surrounding him were wearing white, lights lots of shadows. The vid you titled 'Why Farouk is so Reactivate' He's come so far and relaxed soooo much, but obviously the lorry markings/shadows triggered something in his memory . Lorry driver was brilliant and you did well dealing with his trauma re his stable.
Poor Farouk ... he has PTSD. The truck driver was certainly understanding and helped to not inflame the situation. You are very patient and he needed that along with your kinds words and assurances that it would be OK. Thanks for showing us the event, and how you handled it. There is so often an educational component to these videos.
You handle Farouk so well and you know him inside and out I love the way you chat to your horses even in a spooky situation glad Farouk didn’t bolt on you and that van driver was extremely considerate 👍
That was a very big truck Farouk was passing, but you handled the situation very well Tara. But even though Farouk saw his stable, he had not a 100 % calmed down as yet. But you are his real true mum and spoke softly to him, you had great success with that. I'm sure Farouk will always trust you. Well done Tara . 🥕 🍎 🥕🥕🥕🍎🥕🥕🥕🍎
It was a very large vehicle for such a small lane. I was so sad to see him so upset and frightened, couldn’t even manage to get through his stable door, you were so good with him Tara, staying on board, getting him to past and understanding that at the end he was not being difficult but truly traumatised and in shock. You couldn’t really trust anyone else with him, they might think he was being naughty on purpose but he so isn’t and he needs your patience and understanding. If Apollo had seen him planted outside his stable he would have shouted some encouragement like it’s OK old chap you are safe now, get inside your stable and calm down, you look a right ninny planted out there, come on there is nothing to fear I have personally check out all the stables.
I'm so sorry this happened to Farouk and you. I can't imagine what all was done to him to bring such terror because, as you've said, he has seen lots of large vehicles before. You handled the situation so well because you had no warning at all but were able to convince him to go forward. The scene at his stall was just sad. I trust that some rest and good food, plus all of your kind assurance, calmed him down.
Happy you are both safe! I’m not overly surprised Farouk was reactive to the huge truck with white on it, but I was really surprised when he didn’t want to go in his stall! That shows how sensitive he really is! My heart went out to him when you showed his frighten sad eyes! You handled the situation perfectly! Hope he forgets about the incident by tomorrow! Big hugs to Farouk and a lot of carrots and stud muffins! Glad REN’s came in to reassure him too!🏇🚀🥕🥕🥕❤️❤️
That was a different type of truck for Farouk. Big, bright and a different sounding for sure. Felt for him for sure🐴. Plus the stick in road didn't help. Tomorrow will be better! 🐴❤️🐎🧑🦳
Well done Tara 👏👏👏 and poor Farouk 🐴being so frightened with that enormous truck and its shadow 🤯 Farouk traveled around alot on the show circuit and he could easily have had a terrifying experience with a large truck
Walk on and gallop past! God bless this beautiful horse he is the loveliest horse. Well done Tara staying with his very tight spin!❤ No horse is ever 100% all the time but Farouk is a real chsmpion he always tries his best. God bless you Tara and Rens for being so kind and loving to this horse. IMO in his past Farouk has been punished by strict training practices that DO NOT suit all horses. These harsh practices have led to his losing trust with his rider and himself in certain situations. BTW I owned an Arabian mare who was a nightmare with puddles. I believe because she would enter and walk through water that it was the shadows in the water that freaked her especially when facing the puddle or whatever. If we had to walk alongside water I turned her head away. Many thanks for your videos which highlight your excellent training methods using kindness and sensitive aids.
Well, he is an Arabian! That’s my explanation 😅 I have ridden quite a few. And even with very proper training and lots of endurance they still remained reactive 🤷🏻♀️
You did a great job with Farouk. I think you were right about the shadows it is too bad you could not go on the sunny side. As far as not going into the stall you were brilliant. It was probably just residual from the truck. Farouk I am so proud of him. I could tell he was very scared but he was still trying to take care of you. He is so gentle. He is a one of a kind horse!!!!
It is a shame that kind of training is used when hot horses are young. It stays with a horse forever and makes any future owner have a lot of work to do to counteract it and deal with it when it resurfaces. Poor Farouk! Extra carrots and stud muffins are in order. Wish I could give him a hug! ❤️❤️🏇🏇😲😲🥕🥕🥕🥕🥕🥰🥰
Poor Farouke probably thought it was going to swallow him. Well handled Tara and understanding lorry driver
I always turn my truck or motorcycles off till horses pass. Great control.
Long-lasting, if not permanent, effect of trauma indeed. You handled the situation magnificently and you are so calming to him ...well done ❤ and fair play to the driver switching the engine off too.
Yes Tara did a wonderful job 👏 and the driver was very understanding too 👍
Beautiful, lovely Farouk. Thank goodness he found you, and thank goodness you understand him so well. He is such a lovely boy. And you are such a lovely horse-person!
janesmith4617. You wrote our thoughts so well, Thank you!
OMG Tara, monster on wheels. Well handled. Pleased to see understanding driver. Wish there were more drivers like him. Glad you and Farouk are OK.
Wow, Farouk was quite upset. You’re so amazing with your horses, Tara.
Fear imprinting as a young horse or dog can last a lifetime. My Aussie would always spook at noises that frighten him as a puppy. He never completely outgrew that.
OMG Tara! That actually made me cry. 😢 Farouk does look traumatised. I bet you are too. Sending hugs. X

thankfully
Only one thing I question. When you dismounted, should the stirrups not have been run up? Farouk was having difficulty and, had he spooked, his leg could get caught in a flopping stirrup.
Poor Farouk! I hope his former owners see you on UA-cam and realize they did this to an amazing horse!
So well done! He was so frightened but he handled it remarkably well, considering everything. And bless the driver for shutting off the engine!

Yes that made me sad 😳 Farouk was so frightened that he froze in place once he got back to safety
you could see his cogs turning
nostrils flared
a silky look on his face 😮😢
Dear, good boy. Incidents like that reinforce that he has the best owner/guardian. A wonderful home for a sensitive fellow. You understand him.

Poor Faroukles. I would have been scared too. But you knew Mum would make it all better. Great teamwork!!!🥕🥕🥕🥕🥕🥕🥕🥕❤❤❤❤❤❤
Was he thinking there might be another one close by? Horses are really such sensitive creatures. You both handled it well.
Wonderful truck driver, good work handling farouk 😊
Moving shadow and huge white "W" on the side of the truck. Well handled Tara! And praise to the lorry driver. Poor boyo...that really scared him. He was having such a lovely relaxing ride up to that point.

Thank goodness the lorry driver was so aware! What a great driver.

Poor litte man. :( We know you are doing your best.
great riding as usual Tara!
the big White W on that van!
Feel better soon Farouk!❤
Sweet sweet boy ❤❤❤. Love how you handled him ❤
Poor baby
He was very brave facing up to it
I think your kindness helped him
Sweet sweet Farouk...Lowry driver was very considerate an very patient with the situation....such a blessing ✨ 💖 💓 oh give your boy extra hugs...from your herd member...😊😇🤗🥰🤠

What a scare that was for the lad! Huge snarling monster with giant teeth👹 Bless the lorry driver for shutting down and being so patient. 😇
I love her with all my heart but I totally agree with you Tara whatever is done to them in those formative early years can scar them for life.❤❤
😢
Oh Farouk that nasty red monster and it’s shadow. Your mum’s there, she won’t let anything happen to you ❤
Kudos to you Tara and to the lorry driver! Huge bouquets to Farouk, he did not completely lose his mind and, after some ducking and weaving, he put some distance between himself and the lorry! Good move Farouk ❤
Bless sweet Farouk.....you understand him so well! Poor boy had such a fright!
Poor Farouk. Such a shame he was treated that way in his past. Happy he has found a safe home with you 💖 Bolting strikes fear in me. I can handle most other things, but bolting shakes me to the core. Well done by you, Tara 💖

He really was affected wasn’t he. Poor buggar. He was a bit frozen. He needed that reassurance it wasn’t going to follow him home.
Awww, he's so sweethearted, poor Farouke . Good boy xx
Tara, you're so lovely with him xx
I think he felt a bit trapped by that parked van too. It happened at the worst possible Faroukle moment, didn’t it?
Poor boy. He tries so hard and was having a lovely day so at least he had especially good experiences with you all these years. Got you both through it unscathed…almost 😂❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉😅😅😅
Poor Farouk. I hope he gets over the fright and it doesn't affect him for your other rides.
Oh bless him poor lad,his eyes said it all, very spooked. Well handled Tara 👍🏻 Thankfully the lorry driver had enough sense and patience not to make the situation any worse. Glad you’re both home safe and sound 🤗🐎🥕
Oh wow bless his and yours heart!! Poor Farouk!! You do a good job getting him back under control! God bless y’all.
I teared up seeing your precious beauty Farouk so traumatized & scared by the huge snarling red monster. He really was filled with fear & adrenaline. I wanted to kiss his nose & give him a good neck rub. Sending love to my favorite boy. ❤❤

Thank you for being so patient with hm. He’s a good boy. He couldn’t help it if he got that anxious.
Farouk did good it will take time for Farouk to get use to everything Farouk is a good boy and a beautiful horse Tara
Happy you are both safe! I’m not overly surprised Farouk was reactive to the huge truck with white on it, but I was really surprised when he didn’t want to go in his stall! Horses are tetchy animals by o nature as it is..can’t help what u meet down our roads .
Glad you stayed on tara..
Oh bless him 🥺As you say early trauma has left it’s mark, at least he has you to help him deal with it.
Awwww poor boy, he such an angel I hate seeing him upset.
I really liked the gentle way that you treated him after he spooked.
So much love and patience. I’m glad Farouk has you to get him through the rough scary spots.

It was Farouks show training by his breeder that has made Farouk extra spooky😢
Poor Farouk. I feel for you, when I dont understand something, I freeze, too. Poor baby.
🐴👍❤️
Farouk is so beautiful. Those eyes….
Poor Farouk .. felt sad for him. Very scary huge lorry. You handled him so well Tara .. well done!! He trusts you .. 👍
It looked like he was away with the fairies and suddenly saw the truck with the white tiger stripes going down the side! Poor boy.
😢
Oh, the countryside is so beautiful!! 🌻 What happened to him? The Lorry was prob making a really loud growling sound too....🐎🦁
Well done Tara and Farouk. Thank heavens for such an understanding lorry driver. Hope someone in his company sees the video😘😘
👍
It is a shame that kind of training is used when hot horses are young. It stays with a horse forever and makes any future owner have a lot of work to do to counteract it and deal with it when it resurfaces. Poor Farouk! Extra carrots and stud muffins are in order. Wish I could give him a hug! ❤️❤️🏇🏇😲😲🥕🥕🥕🥕🥕🥰🥰
