The ghost wanted to give Joy a glimmer of hope of ending the curse because it wanted to relish Joy's despair as it took that hope away.

@@silenthero2795 I can't recall that scene, but I distinctly remember Tito hurling the ironing board at Alice. In Tagalog, we dub that ironing board 'KABAYO,' which literally translates to 'horse' in English. It's named so due to its resemblance to a horse when set up-long, narrow, and shaped similarly. The term 'kabayo' has been colloquially used in the Philippines for years to denote ironing boards
Great review! I recommend "Sukob" next. It stars Kris Aquino as well and was directed by the same director. It's another classic for Filipino horror. Next would be "Seklusyon" and a more recent one, "Deleter" (same director as Eerie).

Just to let you know as a person who watches the movie many times to overcome my trauma of Alice’s death xD 1. Anton name is pronounced as like Antonio but without io. 2. Anton’s mom hates Joy because she actually prefers the mistress bcoz it’s revealed that Anton and the mistress are actually childhood sweethearts. Dunno the reason why though how Anton end up with Joy though, but still very unfair for Joy. 3. In Alice’s death scene, it’s not just a random horse that passed by, but she actually landed on a bunch of beers that it’s brand name called “Red Horse”. Yeah that is really a well known beer here in the Philippines and is very strong xD 4. The reason why the man in the beginning left the Bagua on purpose so that he can get rid of it and be free since his wife, the widow, is obsessed with it because of the luck that she receives, hence explains why they look rich when Joy visits the widow’s house. Guess the man can’t handle the guilt of the price of all the luck they receive is an innocent life.
I don't understand why he married Joy if he so much in loved with his original girlfriend but that's karma for him for stupidest decisions he make, same does his mistress.
@@brandonvortex995 I think my theory is that he got Joy pregnant at an early age and of course has to take responsibility And also maybe the mom like the mistress more bcoz more than she’s hotter and more beautiful than Joy but I think she is also rich as well

11:52 there were some things here that non-filipinos would miss. alice was born in the year of the horse. during this scene, the drunkard was supposed to hit alice with an ironing board. an ironing board in tagalog is called "kabayo", which is also the tagalog word for horse. the drunkard missed alice though, and she was almost about to escape before lotus feet appeared. the following scene showed the drunkard pushing alice off a window where she landed over crates of beer popular in the philippines, called "red horse"
That power outage scene tho... Man, that one reminds me of the worst blackout I've had during childhood, it's far scarier when you're trying to go to toilet because goddamn that place looks dark AF

The scenes I felt the most dread from were the ones where joy or the boy's mere survival were considered lucky, since that kind of luck can't be rejected. It felt like the curse was forcing joy to sacrifice people, which really sold the malevolence of the spirit. He was born in the Year of the Dog, same with Dina and her husband. Dina's husband have a tattoo of bulldog making their death have a connection to the Dog.
I actually liked this movie... it was one of the few mainstream movies in the Philippines that I would consider really good at that time! We unfortunately had to put up with tons low-effort movies that was clearly written with "who was the hot-topic at that time and what movie can we write around him / her" rather than actually writing a real script. So a movie revolving around an ACTUAL lore, with characters with actual characteristics outside plot devices, and an ending that was NOT a happy ending (it usually always ends well for the MC.. this time it didnt) made the movie stand out among the ones I watched when I was much younger. I was rooting for the characters to SURVIVE their situation... Although the symbolisms they try to shoehorn in to the story (i.e the killings based on the 12 Zodiac animals of the Chinese belief) felt a little too... on the nose... at times. Like when Alice fell on to a crate of beer, which was Red Horse brand (a very popular brand of beer in the PH)... that... felt a little too ... much. I was thinking: it isnt enough she was born in the year of the horse? You had to slam all that horse symbolism to us? WE GET IT ALREADY!!
What do you mean it isn't enough she was born in the year of the horse? Of course she had to die related to a horse The old lady born in the year of the rat died of leptospirosis The guard - year of the snake died because of snake And the guy rooster died in a rooster gambling fight
I saw this movie very long time ago but stayed in my memory because it was such an interesting and scary but original horror film. Imagine if a mirror in real life had this kind of power. Would you sacrifice lives for your good luck? Lots of people would for sure

I really love this movie even though the scary makeup of lotus feet is outdated but the movie is so plot driven with the right amount of disturbing imagery. It didn't traumatize me as much but I enjoyed the plot and made me watch more horror movies. I was 11 when this came out and you've unlocked another core memory of my childhood. There's an 80s Filipino horror movie that scared the hell out of me as a kid. The movie is called Huwag Mong Buhayin ang Bangkay (Don't Bring the Dead Back to Life). The plot is about a mom with two sons and she favored her younger son than the older one. Her favorite son (younger one) died and she got desperate and sought help from a weird guy to 'revive' her precious son even if he becomes undead.

I really love Feng Shui, one of the best Filipino horror flicks, in my opinion. It's such a classic. Anyway, I agree that Lot Lot's scenes were so intense that they projected a different kind of scare. Also, this movie is one of the rarer ones where people simply talking about mysterious stuff happening in Joy's house is already spine-tingling. It's like you're in the movie itself and being told scary stories and whatnot. Overall, a great scare score, my friend. You should do Sukob next, another Kris Aquino scary movie.

Thanks for doing this review! FS was genuinely scary for me but I found Alice's death to be hilarious because the bottles of Red Horse beer felt too forced to connect the death with the curse. But anyways I'm glad you enjoyed this! I'd recommend Seklusyon next. Or if you're feeling campy, do a series on the Shake, Rattle, and Roll film series.
Thanks! By the way, FS has a sequel and while I haven't seen it, I checked out the synopsis and it looks OK. It's great how Asian horror films tend to take the time to do world-building and tend to avoid relying on jumpscares right away. It feels more satisfying when tension is built first even if the baddie is slightly visible and the jumpscare becomes a kind of money shot for the scene. Thanks again and I'm looking forward to your next video, whatever film you decide to cover.

@@HorrorMine The guy also threw a rocking horse toy at her but she managed to dodge. She could've gotten away until the ghost scared her that she fell over a bottle of the brand Red Horse, still matching her zodiac.
So i would get pecked to death by a chicken then. Lol.
I don't usually go much for Pinoy horror, but this one really stuck to me. Surprisingly underrated horror film.
It really is! Hadn’t heard of it until recently
Great review! I recommend "Sukob" next. It stars Kris Aquino as well and was directed by the same director. It's another classic for Filipino horror. Next would be "Seklusyon" and a more recent one, "Deleter" (same director as Eerie).
I’ll check them out! I’ve heard a lot of good things about those films
This! Feng Shui and Sukob aka why don't we not just traumatize a generation of Filipino kids with 1 movie, but also with another!
We watched Sukob last week and I forgot that it was also a good horror movie.
Seklusyon was just a pretentious movie trying so hard to be deeper than it actually is, I watched it in the cinema and I left with this reaction 😒
The van with the chickens, goats and cow is the PH version of Final Destination's log truck. TRUST. We avoid those vans in the road because of this movie
Not really. We avoid looking at the bagwa more.
Alice didn't just fall on beer...Alice fell on a stash of Red Horse Beer, a local Philippine brand. She really did die by means of Horse
I missed that!
@@HorrorMineyou also missed the part where Alice used 'Kabayo' to hit the drunk man. In the Philippines, 'Kabayo' is used as a term for an ironing board, but it's also the Tagalog word for horse.
Thanks for covering another Filipino horror movie! :) I love your scare scores and am glad to see local movies covered.
Regarding Alice’s death, to add context, when Tito attempted to hit her with the ironing board, there was a sense of dread that she would die brutally from it since ironing boards are also called “kabayo” or horse in the Philippines.
But then she fell on a crate of beer which ultimately killed her, there were chills because she fell on a crate of “red horse” beers :)
I didn’t know about the ironing board which is pretty cool! I totally missed the red horse beers
If you are able to, please watch “Sukob (2006)” which is another horror film where Kris Aquino starred at! :) It’s also another horror classic! would be interested to hear your thoughts on it
@@chloeevangelista3774 I will definitely be covering that film!
@@HorrorMinehi! Can u pls also cover another filipino movie, The Road. Its uploaded here on UA-cam. You can search for it! It was also a classic and was also nominated by international awardees
Just to let you know as a person who watches the movie many times to overcome my trauma of Alice’s death xD
Yeah that is really a well known beer here in the Philippines and is very strong xD
Thanks!
I don't understand why he married Joy if he so much in loved with his original girlfriend but that's karma for him for stupidest decisions he make, same does his mistress.
@@brandonvortex995 I think my theory is that he got Joy pregnant at an early age and of course has to take responsibility
And also maybe the mom like the mistress more bcoz more than she’s hotter and more beautiful than Joy but I think she is also rich as well
@@miya_izuru still Joy husband is the fault for being stupid in the first place. Guy can't keep his pants down, and pay the price for it.
Her husband's name is Inton not Anton.
Damn these oldies really be hitting different. Hope to see you cover some like this in the future. Beautiful cinematography, the colors remind me a lot of Suspiria.
They sure do!
This is one Filipino classic that I still remember after all these years lmao. I remember watching it as a kid with my older cousins, and that scene where the one friend falls down on all those bottles is still clear in my mind till this day.
Definitely a classic!
Sometimes in a blackout I go around by memory with my eyes closed because then I can lie to myself that the dark is my choice 😂
Feng Shui to me is one of the scariest film of all time. Clever plot twist, amazing scares. nearly perfect. the make up is a little outdated but still overall a great film.
It’s definitely a great movie!
If you're wanting to review more filipino horror movie I suggest the following:
- the white lady 2006
- Ouija 2007
- Mag ingat ka sa Kulam
- the healing
- corazon ang unang aswang.
This is such a classic! It's still scary even after so many years have passed.
Thanks for tuning in!
Perfect way to end my night! Thanks for covering another Filipino film! P.S. Kris Aquino is such an amaing horror actress, I hope she recovers soon and maybe plunge into horror again)
Thanks for tuning in!
Night?? What time is it where you are from! It's 9am here in Missouri!
@@WhitneyDahlin its just after midnight in my area in Asia.
Jackie Chan did an amazing job playing lotus feet…..lmao
@@XLeon_S_KennedyX cool! Im so jealous I would love to live in Asia it's so cold and miserable here. IMO Asian media and entertainment is higher quality than it is in the US too!
The scenes I felt the most dread from were the ones where joy or the boy's mere survival were considered lucky, since that kind of luck can't be rejected. It felt like the curse was forcing joy to sacrifice people, which really sold the malevolence of the spirit.
That said, I had to laugh when Denton and the side chick flew like paper planes when they were shot lmaooo
Because shotgun and proximity
What is Denton zodiac? How is it related to the shotgun?
@@mr.slimeythe was shot by a guy with a bulldog tattoo I think
He was born in the Year of the Dog, same with Dina and her husband. Dina's husband have a tattoo of bulldog making their death have a connection to the Dog.
This movie still gives me creeps while looking at any bagwa...Thank you for reviewing Filipino movies more to come.
Of course! Thanks for watching
Yeah I can’t believe I missed all that horse symbolism
What do you mean it isn't enough she was born in the year of the horse? Of course she had to die related to a horse
The old lady born in the year of the rat died of leptospirosis
The guard - year of the snake died because of snake
And the guy rooster died in a rooster gambling fight
I saw this movie very long time ago but stayed in my memory because it was such an interesting and scary but original horror film. Imagine if a mirror in real life had this kind of power. Would you sacrifice lives for your good luck? Lots of people would for sure
A lot of people would and that’s really sad
OMG FINALLY!!!
Thank you so much, Vicchay! ❤️❤️❤️
This made my night! So glad you finally have this movie covered 😊
You’re welcome! Thank you for watching
Asian horror movie just hit different.
And thank you so much for updating 😽💞
Thanks for tuning in!
11:57 Filipino here. to add some context to how her falling down on the beer is related to her being born in the year of the Horse, she most likely fell in "Red Horse" brand beer. it's the most popular brand of beer in the country
Film scared me as a kid. We even had the official dvd. The cover was the bagua and the mirror had this cool effect when you angle it against the light, you can see an eye looking back at you.
That sounds awesome!
I just absolutely love the set design... I mean it's simple ... Neon Blue shadow casts at night terrifying
THANK YOU FOR THIS!
Please do "The Healing" and "Quija" toooo
Will do!
did another banger❤ job on this one. The thumbnail ghost looks so familiar. You hit me with a nostalgia trip reviewing one of the classics in my childhood haha.
Awesome! I’m glad 🙂
Nice choice. Feng Shui is definitely one of the popular filipino horror movies.
Here's a list of recommended filipino horror movies you can review and worth making a scare score video:
-Pasiyam (2004)
-Sukob (2006)
I’ll check them out!
@@HorrorMine i remember liking Sukob very much but Ive forgotten what its all about.
Nice to see some more filipino content reviewed . This movie still gives me the crypts to this day 😳
I really like Filipino horror!
Alice's death scarred me so much as a kid that to this day I'm still deadass scared of drunk ppl
It’s absolutely terrifying
It's movies like this that make me really appreciate Chinese and Japanese culture, even more so as I find them much better than American culture. Also similar to the Spongebob jokes I hope in the future you'll use more Scooby Doo jokes.
Other than that I find it unfortunate that this movie didn't have a happy ending and this is another movie you covered that generally disturbed me, which is a rare feat for me nowadays. Lastly, keep up the stellar work as always.
Okay! I’ll add some more scooby doo ones!
I love the review! This is certainly one of the best Filipino horror movies that really creeps me out. Especially, the death scene of Alice, it's very effective and the plot of the movie is brilliant too. Good job!👍👍
Thank you!
How many cursed items over in Asia. Filipino and Indonesian movies do get quite dark.
Too many to keep track
All of them.
Please do a scare score to "The Healing" too. It's one of my favorite Filipino horror movie. 😭❤️ Up until now I can't seem to comfortably look into another person's eye. Hahahah
I will check it out!
@@HorrorMine spoiler it's like a mix of final destination and truth of dare but a lower budget lol
The Healing is definitely one of the scariest Filipino movie!

this is well done, Feng Shui really is a classic Filipino horror movie, actually it has a sequel also starring Kris Aquino. I used to think that this movie was like Final Destination, but now I realized it's more like The Ring more than anything.
This movie kept me up for an entire week after watching it when I was a kid. It traumatized me so much that even watching this breakdown now as an adult still give me chills!
Kind of the same thing for me and the Ju-On films!
This movie still terrifies me up to this day honestly. I watched this with my mom when I was still a kid. I love it how you broke down the movie and mentioned subtle details that I didn’t even notice despite watching this movie numerous times. Good work Vic!
Hope you can do more reviews on the Filipino horror classics! I’d love you to do a review on Wag Kang Lilingon (Don’t Look Back). It’s 2006 filipino horror movie!

Seeing a lot of Filo's here XD. Feng shui is really one of the classics that kept most of the younger kids awake at night.
Maybe you can perhaps try another Filipino Movie, the shake rattle and roll. Some of it (since there's like a LOT) were good especially the MRT one 🫶
As a Filipino, it's disappointing that Red Horse hasn't received the recognition it deserves. Lol
Probably 'cause the foreigners who drink it, drink a different version than our OG Pulang Kabayo!
OSHIII, YOU COVERED FENG SHUI! This movie scared me as a kid :D
It’s terrifying!
Her favorite son (younger one) died and she got desperate and sought help from a weird guy to 'revive' her precious son even if he becomes undead.
i appreciate the rolling of the letter R in the names 'cause that's exactly how they pronounce them in the Philippines lol
I have forgotten about this movie. I was only like 11 when I first watched this. Thank you for the recap. One of the few local horror movies that scared me.
You pick out some real good horror gems
Thanks! I try my best
Fun Fact, Alice fell on crates of beers called "Red Horse" yep it wasn't just a random brand of beers.

Thank you for covering this iconic horror film! My friends and I still watch this movie whenever we hang out on Halloween! I hope you cover a lot more movies from our country! I would suggest the movie "Sukob" starring the same actress from this movie and it revolves around a superstition here in the Philippines about weddings. I am sure that it will creep you out too! Christ almighty did this movie scar me for years during my childhood 😂I had a long-time fear of translucent windows after watching, because of that one scene in the house where the children were in their room and you could see figures outside the window. Thankfully the movie seems just goofy and funny now.
Side note: I cannot believe you featured a film from my country! I'm a long-time subscriber and this suprises me! Always a good time when you upload!
Thanks for tuning in!
Please also make a review to other pinoy horror movies like
Sigaw / echoes
The road
The healing
Sukob
Wag kang lilingon

Awesome! Thank you so much for watching!
I’ll definitely check out Seklusyon!

Stumbled upon your channel looking for any horror movie to watch and I was surprised you have this Filipino classic. This was really the most iconic horror film and terrified me as a kid. There's actually a sequel for introducing a new character and follows the return of Joy many years later confirming she didn’t die after the events of Part 1.

I loved the final twist. But she broke the bagua! How did the new family got it intact? And what happened to Joi? Was Joi in the car with Thelma and the kids?
I think that it didn’t really work because Lily Hernandez offering her the money wasn’t technically “good luck”.

alice is my favorite death scene because aside from falling on bottles of red horse, the ironing board (called kabayo or horse in english), and the random carriage with a horse, right before she falls to her death she looks like she's riding a carousel.
