Emulation isn't really a problem, it preserves games. Though in this situation, it's certainly the better deal if you don't own a Series X but do have a PC strong enough to run RDR on Xenia.

I had this conversation with someone else. Before I knew the price, I said “if the game is like 50-60$ I’m not buying it since it’s a old game. But if it’s like 20$ then I’ll probably buy it since I’d like to fully finish the rdr story.” I hope they revert the price when it comes out since I doubt anyone will buy it with that price tag.

There'll be those who will unfortunately buy it at $50. We can probably give it a pass to those who never played it before or want it on the go, but for most of us who have, it's completely pointless. In time it'll go on Sale so by then it would likely be worth getting.

it's not that it's free - it's because they want the review copies pre-release, so they would get a higher engagement on their videos/articles since they're the first to make content on it online. there's journalists and content creators willing to spend hundreds on games pre-release because of this.

It's a crime that they're charging $50 without enhancing the graphics and cutting off multiplayer, those 5 years that they should've had could've been used to continue supporting RDO, also I remember he literally said we don't just port games and that was only after the atrocious gta trilogy
tbf, this wasn't the main studio working on this port of RDR, those 5 years would've still gone towards GTA VI whilst this was worked on the side by a side company.

Just until you guys got the goods and found out how buggy an engine port really is. With this console port you basically get everything from the 7th generation of console gameplay. I do like that it's coming to the Switch because we need more old games ported over there. It's better to pay 50 bucks on the PS4 since the game was stuck at 100 bucks for almost 10 years on the store without PS Now. It's good for me since I've never played it.

@@kobra6660Man, they’re better off selling the game on Steam Deck than the Switch. Switch is a terrible console to be playing games like this, and their eShop is filled with half-assed games and questionable mobile ports. They should’ve been working on the PC port this time, and try to see if it would work to be sold on PC, but nope… Ever since 2020, PC players have been getting hit with the Ignore button since then with GTA Online by forcing them to move to Xbox Series X/S or PS5, and the crazy thing is, if you have a PC over $1,500-up, You can get better graphics and gameplay off games from PC, ranging up to 60-500 FPS, while Xbox Series X/S and PS5 have the option to run at 30 FPS cap and 60 FPS cap, with literally little to no improvements on graphics and gameplay. The PC has the NaturalEvolved mod, which is a complete overhaul on the graphics, and still get frame rates higher than 60 FPS.
They’ve been abandoning PC ports for years. Plus, they said in a interview back in 2002, they said the PC ports were the hardest to get working properly before release, so they have to push the release date back for PC to polish the port. And so we got GTA 3 in 2001 for PS2, and for Xbox and PC in early-2002. Since then, we’ve still haven’t seen PC ports for the entirety of the Midnight Club Franchise (besides 2) and people have (and still) are begging Take Two and Rockstar Games to remaster these games or release them on PC, and that still hasn’t happened.
Next time they pull another stunt like this, it’s a literal nail in the coffin for Take Two and Rockstar Games and their respect from the gaming community and their fans.

At least they could have ported it to PC to make a re-release of a 2010 game justified, because PC has never had RDR1 it has only gotten RDR2 (which also includes RDO if you count that as separate) so far. There is a list of the games Rockstar has made available to PC, and it is a minimal list for their whole library. You can google Rockstar Launcher compatible list, it lists all PC titles compatible with the Rockstar launcher and the PC titles that are not compatible with the Rockstar launcher in which you don't require the Rockstar launcher to play.
When people learn that companies are not their friends, everything will be fine.
Rockstar’s problem ultimately comes down to them not being open-minded enough. For example, they could’ve released some of the DLCs of GTA Online to the Single Player rather than the Online. If they’ve put that kind of effort into the single player DLCs, the game would have remained absolutely phenomenal to this day and would be spoken of in a more positive light as we await GTA 6. Rockstar are good at making DLCs. It’s a shame they’ve stopped caring about storytelling, or at least trying to tell the story from different perspectives. I’m talking about Charles or Sadie story DLC, or even Dutch having a DLC, which would be awesome. However someone like Dutch could easily get his own full game.

Back in 2013 I bought the physical version of the Undead Nightmare dlc from Walmart for $20. It included the multiplayer.
Same me, even tho it’s like the worst version, I just bought RDR1 for the PS3 for like $20. Includes the base game, the DLC and the multiplayer, way better deal than those $50 imo.
It would be super annoying if Rockstar shuts down the multiplayer on 360 and PS3 to try to make this re-release seem viable.

I bought RDR1 GOTY edition on the PS3 a couple years ago and it came with the storyline, Undead Nightmare and multiplayer for about $20. It also came with a physical map for the main story and Undead Nightmare map on the back of the main map. Definitely a better deal than the PS4/Nintendo Switch port.
Goty also has extra multiplayer skins and unique outfits for single player like the Waltons gang outfit

I don't know why people throw the word "lazy", where it's not even the case. It's TakeTwo's decition to decide what is a profitable for their companies. Developers at Rockstar do what exactly they are paid for, how is that lazy? It's not that developers don't want to work on these games, it's because they are not paid for these, and they are paid to work instead on other projects. So it's more of a management problem and the way they assign the developers to various projects.
Oh trust me, I know all the glitches from the first game, there are a ton of them, from no clip, invisibility, invincibility, flying glitch, how to freeze others consoles, rapid fire, and the list keeps going. I’ll be checking all of them(that can be done in single player) as they are all still available on RDR1 PS3 version 1.08(latest version)

This "backward compatibility" issue feels weird to me. Because in the initial days of the release of PS4 and Xbox One, it was the PS4 that had a higher level of backward compatibility compared to the Xbox One. But Microsoft pulled up its socks and did reasonably well with its backward compatibility.
Even the modern Xbox Series S and Series X consoles were designed with backward compatibility in mind, with the controller being more traditional. People panned Microsoft for not going for the "innovative controller redesign" as PS5 had done, but the focus was more on backward compatibility, with every function being transferable from the old generation to the new one.

Best thing they can do is sell it 50% off at launch like they did gta 5 on series x and ps5. I would pay $25 at most for it.

also undead nightmare and base rdr did have a bundle you could buy together (was the game of the year edition). I actually have owned it on both ps3 and xbox 360.
Sad part is, people will still buy this. Just doesn't matter to complain anymore, people are too slow and easy to separate from their money
Funny thing is you can emulate rdr1 at 4K 60fps and have a better experience than anything rockstar have released.
I love the boondocks. Clips of it can be used in sooooo many different ways.
My sister has a ps3 and undead nightmare. I stayed at her house booted it up and was surprised to see full multiplayer is still working. I haven’t played in 12 years but instantly was in a posse and doing gang hideouts. Why wouldn’t they bring it over?

5:07 yes the physical ps3 version does come with the map and on the back of the map is a poster of ms mcfarlane too i bought a used version from a vintage game store and not only did it come with the map but it also came with original 2010 receipt from target
The physical version of red dead has a map and there’s a poster on the back like the gta 4 one. Love you pro❤️
I can see it being fair on Switch since Switch games almost never go on sale but that's just me making an ignorant sarcastic statement.
Honestly, I think the price is unreasonable and ridiculous for the price as its a remaster port that lacking content that should be in the game. I didn't even know Red Dead Redemption even had multiplayer since I never played the main game and barely played Undead Nightmare.
It's just a case of Take Two being Take Two and besides 2k and GTA 6 and if I am playing wtih friends, I'm not going to play too many more of their games until something drastic changes for the better.
