    The center stand springs kicked my ass. As others said, missing a few bits. The foot rest needs to come off and there’s another bolt that needs to come off to get the resonator off. I’d suggest not taking springs off center stand and just take off bolts on pipe side of center stand and see if it loosens everything enough to do the rest in this video. Great video. And as I always say, if I can do it you can too.

    Very nice I like that this system gets rid of the cat box

      That's not the cat box...that's a resonator...the cat is right beside the rear brake.

    Video never showed removing the bolt in back of the right side foot control from the resonator box to the frame… must’ve been edited out.

    End of pipe finishes very close to sports panier. Didn't show bolt to be removed behind muffler when removing oem exhaust. Clamp on new pipe to top if upgraded skid plate installed. Can do without centre stand removal. Sounds good.

    Why have you got metric and imperial nuts and bolts?

    How much gap do you have between midpipe and centerstand? Mine is very close.

      i pounded my mid pipe with a hammer wrapped in cloth, slightly dented, but does not rub against center stand arm. went for a ride, and of course it rubbed again. so now i will install titanium header wrap. that should do it!

    Have you noticed any "lean-surging" after installing the V&H on your bike? (Surging at cruising speeds with no load) I'm experiencing surging with my PAS after the install; the dealer said it seemed like the problem was related to the pipe install and the bike would need a tune, which the dealer doesn't do.

    • @rso1411
      @rso1411 Рік тому

      Are you still having the problem with surging? Are you happy with the new exhaust? I'm considering the change but haven't decided.

    • @jonathansilver4448
      @jonathansilver4448 Рік тому +4

      @Jerry Williams I've put about another 1000 on it since, and the bike seems to have adjusted to the pipe. After about 100 miles, or so I didn't notice the surging anymore.
      I'm very pleased with the pipe. I was concerned it would be too loud, but it ended up just right for me. No annoying drone when cruising for long periods at highway speeds.

    Brian, please do another video and address the following issues: 1) The Heat shield on Pan America Special interferes with a clamp. 2) there is a Torx bolt that holds the muffler in place behind the right foot peg, which needs to be removed. You kind of breezed over these extremely frustrating steps. I nearly killed my son as we followed your video.

    Has anyone had trouble with the connecting pipe being too big in diameter to tighten up over bike system? My connecting pipe is 63mm internal bike exhaust 55mm external, can’t get any answers to this one?.

      We tried to fit one on my sons bike yesterday and had the same problem. It looks like when we took the old system off there is a gasket that stayed inside the pipe of the centre box, I tried to get it out but it broke. We have ordered one online for about £18 and hope it will fix the problem.

    I just did my bike with a Jekyl Hyde, never uninstalled the center stand. There is a pin with a provided screw next to it which opens the access.

    does this affect my warranty?

    • @guazavara
      @guazavara Рік тому +4

      NO, Harley redacted a new warranty booklet, got mine in the mail a weeks ago, it states that putting aftermarket parts and accessories does not VOID the warranty, I guess they try to blame the amount of faults and codes and problems on to "that" and wash their hands , but the Consumer Bureau "pulled their ears". LOL

    Vance and hines should mention the gaskey that sleeves the stock pipe where the VnH slips on. You will probably not be able to use the old one. I live abroad, so getting a new one takes weeks. I would have loved a heads up.

    A lot of unnecessary steps. Just pull the foot peg off. Take out bolt behind peg. Push stand down. Remove exhaust bolts. Take exhaust off on 1 single piece. Not separate

  • @iaunn
    @iaunn 5 місяців тому

    Instead of removing the entire center stand, only undo the screws holding it together to rear set. You have to remove the rear set in order to reach a screw holding the resonator. Undoing the center stand screws from the rear set allow you to get to the screw. Just a tip.
