When creating 3D-printed components for audiophile-grade equipment, it's essential to carefully consider the material used. Audiophiles, with their highly discerning ears, can even detect subtle differences, such as whether a cable is silver-coated, and how these qualities evolve over time. For example, if the parts are printed using PLA (polylactic acid), it's important to note that PLA is hygroscopic, meaning it absorbs moisture over time. This can potentially impact the acoustic properties of the equipment, altering the desired sound quality. Therefore, choosing the right material is crucial to maintaining the integrity of the audio experience.

With all due respect Glen, I once heard a big undeniable improvement with a pair of Purist Audio interconnects, connected to a cheap 1970s 8 track receiver, and those are very low quality. But the cable made it sound very listenable. I was playing a cd player through it. Probably, better equipment would have revealed even more improvement with the interconnect.

So why has there never been a proper double blind test done between good and esoteric cables? Prove us wrong. If the effect is real, it will show up in the double blind test and you can prove all us nay sayers wrong. Just once, I want to see it. Are you rational? Afraid? Don't think it's necessary? Rather believe what you believe without proof?
I don't have resources but if I was subsidized I would be willing to fly to GR in Texas and perform such an experiment with Danny.
      1) It wouldn't be that hard to do.

Biggest difference I’ve heard is when twisted-pair microphone interconnect cables are constructed with a floating shield vs. when the shield is connected at both ends. Cables with a floating shield sound more open and transparent. In my system, I have a more difficult time hearing differences between various speaker cables.

What I do know is that silver does not sound as warm and detailed as copper...its just detailed,to the point of sibilance.Mixing those would create issues because of conductivity differences as far as the acoustic differences are concerned, not the speed at which the sound is traveling through the cable.Danny was hearing over bearing treble which would make these frequencies sound like they are upfront because its how we perceive this.Metallurgical differences create phase shifts which are audible...fact.

I thought speaker cables were snake oil until recently when I started looking at more than just resistance.
I just purchased a set of World's Best Cables, the cheapest option, and I can not believe how much of a difference it made. They are shielded coaxial cables made by Mogami.
Not only did the bass increase significantly, but the tonality of the speakers changed. People's voices when talking are now more profound and full, to the point that I can hear the speaker boxes resonating. It was so apparent that I ordered sound-deadening material to apply to the inside of the boxes.
If you are only running copper speaker wire, you are missing out and may not realize it. If you want a cheaper option than Danny suggests, World's Best Cables on Amazon is what you want.

It is EXTREMELY obvious to me that different cables can affect the sound quality of speaker/headphone/earphone systems, because if one looks at the two extremes (a thin wire versus a thick, OFC cable) it is simple physics that the OFC will handle the electrical signal far more competently than the thin, cheap and nasty wire.

What are you paying for? I have borrowed some expensive cables home to compare with my own (about $150-200). They where about $600-700 but not anywhere near the $1000 price. My first impression was wow, they sounded a lot better. Firmer bass and a lot clearer midrange. I thought it must be the better connectors as my own had very good shielding but not as nice looking connectors. Tested them for a while and after a few days I thought they sounded the same as my original. Then called a friend over and he helped me do a blind test. I know it wasn’t a perfect test because it took a about 15 seconds between each change (and no change).. But I couldn’t notice any difference when I didn’t know which cable was used. This with a system, speakers and room I’m familiar with. That you can sense silver coating on a cable is amazing really!

As an electrician, we learned in school about the "skin effect". Electricity tends to travel/transfer along the exterior of a cable/conductor. The higher the frequency or voltage, the more skin effect there will be. Therefore, if you coat a wire w a different conductive material,.. the material on the exterior will be transfering more of the high frequencies than the interior core. An interesting use of skin effect in a real world application.

A Scandanavian company called Supra, in order to decrease the electromagnetic interaction between the strands of their cables cableswhich cause degradation, coats the outside of the their strands with a material that is an inefficient bad conductor of electricity. The theoretical ideal would be to get the signal to only travel through the inner core of the cable. As a former salesman of audio gear, I know my ears aren't particularly good or bad. I believe you buy value and figure out your budgets on that level for the remaining accouterments. Some folks build listening rooms and start with nothing but clever, normally expensive, equipment.
They are often distracted by price and the need to assuage their egos despite having my ears. They waste resources because the waste is of little/no consequence. They are the folks who extoll Porsches and demean Corvettes. 'Value' has no value..

easy way to solve if speaker cables make a difference. 2 speakers and a different speaker cable for each speaker, if theres a difference it should stand out a mile.

The subtle differences in anything audiophile needs an acclimation period. We are creatures of habit. That period can be weeks to months. I do not need an "immediate" improvement. With better wire, I want LESS things to distract me over time. Now, to be honest, I have not yet EVER had a deficiency in my playback that could be attributed to the speaker interconnect. That could be because I am already using very good cable. Croatia is a place that I go to for vacation sometimes. Now I have a reason to make a new friend. Thank you Danny!
