With New Zealand needing only 3 runs from the last over, Waqar Younis gave only 2 runs and took 2 wickets to tie the match to produce one of the best tied matches in cricket history.
This Waqar Younis last over in ODI and his 6 wickets for 30 runs in the match is one of the best bowling spells in ODI cricket.
Everything looks over but for Waqar nothing is over until last ball..... That's why he's a Champion.........forever.
Exactly 💯 well said
So sad that he was injured during the 92 World Cup, he deserved to win it
yes Waqar is always a champion
That is the undying spirit of Pakistani team in the 90s. Love their fiercest bowlers Akram, Waqar, Shoaib. Love and respect for them always.❤️❤️❤️❤️
But they were morally corrupt. Super talented but typical south asian corruption.
His run up and action unmatchable, now a days nobody can match his calibre true and genuine fast bowler, not to forget another great Wasim Akram
If he participate in athletics.would have been successful performer.by physic he was a complete athlete
Overthrows and gets the match tied.
Waqar: *No need of fielders if stumps are there*
What a legend!
This is when Pakistan could afford to score 150 runs and still go home victorious. All thanks to the bowling squad.
I am from India, but i miss the golden days of Pakistani bowling line up... Wasim Akram, Waqar Younis, Shoaib Akhtar , Aaqib Javed. Every cricket fans dream, when cricket was loved and hatred wasn't introduced by the politicians

Yes, beautiful bowling action. He used to run in like an Express train and unleash unplayable deliveries.
No question. No doubts... 90's pakistani teams is very well balance & strong team
Have fast bowlers, 2 best sinners, 2 all rounders & well settled 2/3 openers, n middle order was very strong player & 2 very well wicket keeper players...

What a bowler Waqar,
King of Reverse Swing
Superb Aggressive Action👍🤝
King of reverse is wasim akram
Waqar Younis introduces reverse swing.
When Ajay hit him in last over of 1996, he is not as sharp as he is in the army 90s.
Pak used to wait for those last 10 overs..Wasim, Waqar, Saqlain..Reverse swing, spin, brutality and hell fire🔥
This is the game that convinced me to watch cricket more... amazing
Ok steven job sir

I love waqarrrr. I love William Wallas .
Waqar Younis, the yorker specialist was lethal for any batsmen of his time. Runup, action, throw and delivery all were perfect.
You are 100 percent right....👍🏼.
Really those were the days: When 2 Ws were dominating the cricket... they are the best pace duo ever produced by cricket history
i'm from Bangladesh! Actual cricket of those time.No commercial business of cricket. What a bowling line up!
All star!
Watching Waqar charging in like that is a truly thrilling sight
He was one of the most deadly bowlers in 90s.. Used to bowl the yorkers at will,, probably the best bowling pair with wasim akram in that era
Fun fact.
They never liked each other during matches. Always a competition, who will get more wickets
Pakistan always has this knack of producing legendary fast bowlers which made watching the game much more thrilling. I think Wasim Akram in his heyday was an unplayable fast bowler with his swing, pace and variation. We used to watch the opening overs of an India-Pak ODI with hearts in our mouths when Akram and Waqar used to operate from either ends. Miss those days very much.
You know, in my dreams, I am the greatest batsman in the world. Even then, I would never be able to face Waqar. Poetry in motion, ruthless to a fault. Fabulous days those were.

One of the greatest bowler ever in cricket history till. Never see bowling run up like waqar bhai ever
The days when waqar yunis was lethal with his toe crushing yorkers and hitting the stumps at will, mesmerising run up and great bowling action and not to mention the swagger, waqar was so feared in the world of cricket, he was like the Mike Tyson of cricket, you won't find a bowler like that today....
Mike Tyson? Who?
In his first 2 years of test cricket he was looking to become the greatest pace bowler then came the injuries. He still came back strong, remodeling his action a further 2 or 3 times

Waqar Younis the best fast bowler in his era, what an action, speed& wickets.
Indeed Waqar and Wasim were amazing. No doubt that. Master of swings ..👍👍👍

Khaternaak bowler legendary waqar BhaiJan

This is the first time I have seen "Gora" supporters so excited in a cricket match. Undoubtedly those were the golden days of cricket..
The craze of cricket is ultimately reduces outside india. The main reason is t20 format, icc not giving chance to more countries to play, reducing boundaries length and many rules against bowlers. If u see today's cricket the monster teams like australia, south africa, west indies, srilanka, pakistan etc are fail to producing quality players. Competiton just killed in cricket by icc.
@@f4facts958 I like how you omitted England's name from(so called) monster teams and added pakistan in it.
@@oak8376 yes England should be added instead of India because they were just jokers in 90s

I heard the commentary of this match on a shortwave radio at my village.
Wow ! I also saw this match live...I remember the reception was very bad and it was ahrd to see Waqar getting wickets...….Me and my father only figured out the last wicket was taken when we caught a glimpse of the Pak team celebrating.

Best bowler against left handers, I had ever seen. Because of this greatest inswing bowling.
before injuries Waqar was the fastest among his peers definitly 155kph bowler if not faster, and had the best bowling avg and strike rate until 1994. Even his numbers after that were quite incredible.
exactly
Wasim and Waqar the golden days of bowling 🎳
Early 90s when he was young OMG no clue to face him he was like bullet
What a rhythmic action and what an accuracy in his bowling,,,,was such a champion bowler
Waqar in 1991 to 95 was the fastest ever arguably! No Lees, Shoaibs, Thomsons would have matched him.
One of my fav bowler, what a action of waqi, while he ran
Looks like ran against the wind and bowling with wind.
Best reverse swing bowler of world cricket 🏏

Excellent bowler in the world
I played Gully cricket who rose up to play district level but with typical Indian parents averse to sports as it impacts studies could not pursue dream or love for cricket. Anyway the little I played I was decent in batting and fielding but not strong in bowling. This was the time, I tried many ways to improve bowling and I modeled my action around Waqar Younis. I would not say, I had full control but I naturally acquired the outswinger. The joy of getting wickets in the slip cordon with a round arm action like Waqar personally made me very happy but my utility to play cricket was modelled on Zimbabwe's Neil Johnson who opened the bat (was good in it, so was fielding) but Waqar in me never went away. Like Waqar, I also tend to get hit a lot but damm the action is modelled to attack and never defensive and that to me was Waqar and I was the Waqar of Gully cricket.
Amazing bowling.. Pakistan bowlers are one of the best bowling attack even today
These days when we actually enjoined cricket
Run up of waqar was the most deadly run up and scary.. The pace was just to much of all batsmen.....
junaid nasri “138 kmph was his quickest today” 1:56 ,if 138 is quick then why you guys call indian bowlers names?
@@ArisenalphA you do know how lethal his pace was in general right? Don't just base your judgement on this match alone and calling names to any player is wrong but you must understand that India has never produced even one fast bowler in history of cricket and you have the highest number of population among all cricket playing nations. While Pakistan has full fast pacers in abundance in clubs even. Just saying.
kashif naveed dude you need to learn alot in cricket, first as commentators said 138 was his fastest so he wasnt really bowling “lethal” pace. Second you should learn indian pitches and climate arent really a fast bowlers heaven thus india produces swing/spin bowlers in heaps with a few exceptions. Thirdly, excess population doesnt help creating a quality environment for players and selectors cuz in the end only 11 players are getting a game and rest is a clusterfuck of unnecessary competition and headache to fill the spot which creates stress amongst players and selectors while using excess resources as well as inviting corruption cuz everyone has a dream to play for india. I dont give a shit about other matches as i just watched the video and saw this overrated comment about his pace. his pace was below 138 whole day just hear what commentators are saying your “lethal pace” comment just doesnt fit here bud. just saying my a$$.
@@ArisenalphA I understand what you mean but that's not an over rated comment. About your reply. Pakistan has the same kind of batting and bowling conditions like India. They are identical but Pakistan always produced lethal fast bowlers and some of the best spinners including Saqlain Mushtaq the inventor of Doosra. And population does matter because you have a luxury to groom players when you have them available in abundance. I don't have anything against India. Indian batting has always been far superior to Pakistan. Your cricket is free from politics. Pakistan has a worst cricket board that is full of corruption. You just need to look at facts with open mind instead of favouring your country. You say me I have less knowledge of cricket. Yes I may have less knowledge of cricket but I have seen the golden era of cricket from the 90s. I have seen Wasim and Waqar demolishing everything that stands in their way on FULL FLAT wickets. You must accept that India never has been superior in bowling Department than Pakistan just as Pakistan is never superior in batting Department than India.
kashif naveed don’t compare india with pakistan man whenever the big occasions come you go home losing, 0 wins in WC. plus india is doing pretty well without those “full fast pacers” kid are you 12?
