I like the idea of using the axel as a reservoir. A little bit of oil will sure make it easier to deal with the spruce gum. Personally id favor mounting a plastic translucent container and some small plastic lines to each wheel for the ease of monitoring the oil level and ease of refilling it. But we're all different and that's OK. One thing I will say about your mill John is there were no cut corners and everything is top notch. I've watched it pretty much from the beginning and it's sure looking great!! So much for not ever finishing anything. You hit this one out of the park!! Well done sir!!
Well, I guess it was just one of those days. I have days like that too. Back out at my sawmill at the beginning of the day I'm thinking nice good day for sawing! Half an hour later the band blade breaks. Oh I forgot the tools to replace it. So I run back to the barn for tools and just then my neighbor comes in and chats for an hour and a half. At the end I forgot what I was doing. Oh yeah! The sawmill, that's right. After another hour sawing a log the skid steer breaks down or I run out of diesel or something. Well what you going to do? Half a day wasted sawing but whatever.
hi there that hits the nail in the head , now days the rain is kicking me in the butt , 11 out of the last 12 days rain , and the one day spent mowing . so glad you dropped in .thanks john
The sawmill i work at has a wheel oiler system that uses waste oil to lubricate the carriage track. It uses a air powered pump that is on a timer and it oils the track wheels about every 2 minutes. Its on a older corley circle sawmill.
I like this idea! Only one more hole to drill and tap for the fill pipe, get your drills sharpen up this time and bring your tap handle! Cheers! John Toccoa GA
good video and job i think it will work with sticky wood you need all they help you can get i speryed my well with silcone spary it was sticking so bad. jeff did a really good job welding. take care, be safe and well.
I think it would be ok to drill hole through . But make it a tap size on the bottom and a clearance hole size on the top . Therefore using a short bolt holding from the bottom.
HI JOHN 😊😊 the old school drills had a chuck key that U tighten the collar the new drills 😮😮 aren't like that no more U can use 2 pair of channel lock pipers 2 tighten 😊😊 OMG 5 12 2O24
