Spoiler Alert! It wasn't attacked. SURPRISE! This video is a complete comedy. Every sentence is laughable. Contrary to the title, the words "if it was/were attacked..." kind of changes the directive wouldn't you say? 2:30 "...if the Zumwalt sails in these high risk areas, it could potentially become an easy target for pirates". WHAT??? Easy target??? PhD's among pirates is pretty rare but I give them the intelligence to know not to poke bears. 2:36 "Although the Zumwalt has stealth technology, making it hard to detect by radar, it can still be seen with the naked eye or other optical devices". Nooooooo! Say it isn't so! So Achmed can't see it on his radar but can see it with an "optical device". Don't worry folks. A monitor is an optical device. That's why you can see it. 11:20 So, the bad guys were "...able to evade the missiles with evasive maneuvers or using simple anti-missile systems". What? They turned left, then right and used their anti-missile slingshots. So the Zumwalt needs to step up the game from @ $1.7 million ESSM to a 200 km range LRLAP missile @ $1 million to take out a $600 clapped out fishing boat that was 20 minutes earlier bouncing AK47 rounds off the Zumwalt's hull? This video is simply a child's imaginary storyline with a script written by a 6 year old who plays too many of his weird uncle's video games.
Its headline and the beginning saying it will show you what happened, but never does, it's misleading. It wants you to watch until the end so it can get credit for a full view so they can get paid.
Easy target? Any Vessel with an actively resisting crew is tough but a Naval vessel of any sort would be a nightmare scenario for anyone trying to capture it. A large, armed, actively resisting and trained crew that knows the ship? Even the Zumwalt's 150 men is many times more than would be on a civilian ship the same size. Civilians crew for efficiency, Naval ship crew to keep the ship afloat and fighting even if taking heavy damage and casualties. You wouldn't send a SEAL team into that unless you were desperate. This is not a matter of capture the bridge, capture the ship. You have engine rooms and armories all in a complex unfamiliar 3D space where your numerous armed opponents know the ambush spots intimately. Of course none of this matters, they could just waste the skiffs with deck guns or flat out outrun them if they weren't in a killing mood. Rifle aren't great for shooting over water. Without reference points finding range is tricky to say the least, never mind that it's changing all the time and everything is moving relative to each other. (It not like AKs are sharpshooters rifles to begin with)
The scenario is an absurd joke. A 20 foot wooden boat with 50 pound men with AK's isn't going to attack a US destroyer. I still laugh at the thought. The video really just gave up a lot of perhaps sensitive information about the capabilities of one of our most sophisticated naval vessels. That concerns me.
But how much blah, blah, blah telling the advantage of how the destroyer is this and that. You Americans never tire of praising yourselves. If the DDG-1000 Zumwalt was so good, the US Navy would have already built hundreds of them and that's not what we see.
I worked on the development and production, and was a Navy Veteran during Vietnam. At all levels these 3 ships compared to any other US Navy class, is the best that we can be. Original Navy build plan was unfortunately ludicrous. Better described as stupid. Too much time and money lost. Stealt was the catalyst for its design. From the hull(wave piercing) to all the electronics. Unfortunately, too much development testing had to be deleted which did bite the program later. I'd rather serve on this ship than ant other. Clearly, not a bucket of bolts and looks nothing like a Pinto.
Sailor 1: I heard you were attacked. Sailor 2: Nah, we just had some target practice and went on with the rest of our day. We had cheeseburgers for lunch.
There ya go... just ruining a perfectly good fairy tale! I guess there was a good reason I stopped a couple of minutes in to scan the comments. Some of them are much more entertaining than the video!! 😂🤣
This is the maybe the quietest large ship I have ever been around. As I'm sitting facing the bay eating a sandwich and reading the morning paper, the Zumwalt sailed by so quiet that if I hadn't looked up at a seagull It would have quietly gone right past me without any disturbance. That amazed me so much I alerted my supervisor and we both were in awe that a ship that size sailing past was so quiet. Quiet as an electric car.
we watched till the end to watch what happened to those pirate and in the end noting happened. The video was just a documentary of the capabilities of the USS Zumwalt.... i successfully wasted 13minutes and 23 seconds of my life
So ... did you give it a thumbs-down and tell YT to NOT recommend Nauctis' channel in your feed? If you did --Thank you-- I'm next. If you did nothing, then you'll see a lot more crap videos, with stilted, boring narration, like this one.
At approximately 12:30, you stated that it can, "eliminate all the pirate ships and merchant ships it is protecting." That would make the job easier. 😂😂😂
Fact: If Somali pirates can somehow approach and even board the Zumwalt, then that's just the crew of the Zumwalt doing things so terribly that it isn't even suitable for a scenario.
The narrator has never been om a US Navy Ship of the Line. This is an inane discussion promoting expensive technology of marginal operational value. $2 billion of ship at risk of being neutralized by a single heavy machine gun
@9:54 why attack the steve Irvine - they have nothing to do with pirates attacking ships they are todo with illeagle whale hunting, the steve irwine tries to prevent the killing of whales, or was this just added into the video?
Why was the USS Zumwalt Cancelled? The absence of anti-ship missiles, anti-submarine torpedoes and long-range area-air defense missiles limited the Zumwalt's prowess. To make matters worse, the long range land-attack projected guided shells incorporated on the destroyers were extremely pricey.
This seemed more about advertising strengths, potential weaknesses of this warship to the public and potential enemies than some ridiculous attack scenario. Of course! Why not?
This makes no sence. These Pirates don't have radar, electronics etc. They look with their eyes, attack anything they see with a scrappy speedboat awit 200hp badly maintained outboard, AK47s and RPG. You do not take the'm out with a $100 000 missile at 100+Miles. Under rules of engagement they would be obliged to get an eyeballs on view t-o make sure you are not taking out a fishing boat. You just need a fast ship and one or two 50cal mpachine guns. You just need the equivalent of a late WW2 destroyer with a bit improved radar and radio. Or give me 10 MTBs with torpedos taken off and guns added. Put your stealth ship in the Baltik.
My wife and I went on a cruise through the Panama Canal a few years ago and saw one there, waiting it’s turn to pass through. That’s a bit beyond “a few miles beyond San Diego coast”. 😂
Zumwalt was built in Maine, stopped in Baltimore for a few days then went through the canal on its way to SanDiego. First of its kind to be all new. Actually it's mostly, money seemed to get in the way.Nothing spins except for nav radar and a few older comm antennas were installed. Original plan was 21, politics reduced it to 3. Probably should have been 2 but forced to build 3. Management was not the best. Too much political support for DDG51(AEGIS) as well.
In the almost 20 years of using UA-cam this is only the second time I will block a channel. Usually I just ignore them, but this thing is a special kind of awful.
The people who make these videos don't realize that after two or three phoney clickbait productions, like this one, using stock video photage, people stop looking at them.
This video was more about exposing the capabilities of one of our latest naval destroyers. It was just cloaked in an absurd scenario about wooden pirate boats going up against a US destroyer, using stock footage from the movie Captain Phillips.
It's too bad that US taxpayer dollars are being spent to patrol these pirated international waters. If merchant ships were allowed to carry limited and specific weapons then problem solved. To watch a 20 foot wooden fishing boat with 50 pound Somalians take over a 100,000 ton merchant ship is almost comical, if it weren't sad. But with no weapons they are easy targets.
Stealth for ships at sea does not work against radar. The normal wave action at sea appears as a fairly uniform field to radar. To radar, a stealth ship appears as a blank area in that uniform field and is easily detected.
Yep. I have seen the radar picture aboard a local ferry, the waves other ships leave could be seen 1km away and that was 15 years ago with normal civilian radar equipment.
This is the typical absurdity of conspiracy theory fools, which assumes that the waves sent into empty space return and thus supposedly "isolate" the "empty space. The problem is that neither one , nor the other waves return - so they are not able to extract anything.
@@jayd19631 No engineers needed to know how the principle on which the radar works and a minium of logic. Let alone why the hell they're still producing the stealth technology knowing it is that "useless" that even a wal-mart - bought radar can detect them?

When all the weapons on a warship are hidden you lose that visual intimidation factor like when a pro boxer wears a fashionable suit. Maybe thats not important nowadays but seems its always prevented battles in a standoff, that intimidation factor. The only other way to get that back is show people what it can do by demonstrating it on terrorists.
@@joofooxx2852 well of course you don't want to show the technology but whats wrong with showing people they don't want to fu*k with you before they even try. If they do try something your going to have to show your weapons.

The third one built, the USS Lyndon B. Johnson has a steel superstructure instead of carbon composite one due to manufacturing overruns on the first two ships.
Steel above the O-1????????
Have you seen the falklandwar --at this time they thought Alue was a nice material--it meltat--so sry for my english--but carbon was never an answer like alue----so I only want to discus it --I´n my opinion STEEL is better---"like you said"3 one was steel"--enjoy your live--protected by US NAVY--thx --if you read it --tue rolf

Thats why I posted where that BS ends to save all of us the trouble.
The text sounds to me like it was written by ChatGPT ..
(It not like AKs are sharpshooters rifles to begin with)
Like that shark that jumped in our boat near Miami. By the time my brother and I got done with him he was begging us to leave him go...
@@thekingsilverado3266 😂😂😂
The scenario is an absurd joke. A 20 foot wooden boat with 50 pound men with AK's isn't going to attack a US destroyer. I still laugh at the thought. The video really just gave up a lot of perhaps sensitive information about the capabilities of one of our most sophisticated naval vessels. That concerns me.
How does a cargo ship defend itself when they have not a single gun? Water hoses?
Haben die keine Bordkanonen
Why not say it’s a simulation in the title?
I asked same.
Oh 4 Christ's sake stop complaining what r u like eh
Informative but you repeat way too much
A destroyer that can function "on land." COOL!
But how much blah, blah, blah telling the advantage of how the destroyer is this and that. You Americans never tire of praising yourselves. If the DDG-1000 Zumwalt was so good, the US Navy would have already built hundreds of them and that's not what we see.
So, what happened next? NOTHING!!! I fell for it.
There isn't anyone ever going to mess with this ship.
I loved it where, at point 9:55, they labeled the 'Steve Irwin' a pirate ship. So quacky it was funny.
CRIKEY!!!
@@bubbabiscuitcub OK, you are right. I should have built that into my comment. Excellent of you to (gently) rip my oversight. Gave you a 'TU'...
I've found the best way to watch this amazing video ...is to turn the sound off and read the comments .
Did you say SLQ-32? OMG we were using that back in the early 80's for stealth projection lol. I bet it has been upgraded bigtime lol.
I am from a NATO country. But I feel scorned watching this video. Or the other pirates attacking warships videos.
This vessel is amazing..I'm amazed..
Its a worse pile of bolts than an old Ford Pinto...
8:20 bro do u know how a grenade works? its flying on a single path, right after leaving someone's hand or the chamber of the launcher
Can't be that stealthy if a couple blokes in a tinny with no radar or GPS Found it 😂
is radar stealth... of course its ability to hide from radar is useless when they dont even use it. ;D
Sailor 1: I heard you were attacked.
Sailor 2: Nah, we just had some target practice and went on with the rest of our day. We had cheeseburgers for lunch.
I know for a FACT this did NOT happen a month ago Because the Zumwalt has been sitting in our shipyard for almost 3
There ya go... just ruining a perfectly good fairy tale! I guess there was a good reason I stopped a couple of minutes in to scan the comments. Some of them are much more entertaining than the video!! 😂🤣
Your Welcome !!🤣
If you took the trouble to read the description it clearly states the video is a simulation.
It doesn't exist yet maybe prototype
Ideal for ten years old kids!
Thanks. ✌🏻👊🏼
Take a drink everytime he mispronounces USS Zumwalt.🤦🤦🤦😂😂
CLICKBAIT FANTASY...AVOID.
Advocating use of Harpoon missiles on pirate small-craft
is like recommending nuclear weapons to go bear hunting.
@9:54 why attack the steve Irvine - they have nothing to do with pirates attacking ships they are todo with illeagle whale hunting, the steve irwine tries to prevent the killing of whales, or was this just added into the video?
Should just use all those fancy weapons and blow the somali pirates into the next solar system.
😂😂😂
what a sheeeeet video. The description has nothing to do with the subject
This is beyond hypothetical; this scenario would never eventuate unless we're talking kamikaze pirates.
They must be desperate to attack a war ship.
This ship does exist. It came out of trials and was activated a few years a go. Many years in development but working now!
Of course! Why not?
At 11:51 isn't that a lifeboat in the video. Those Samolians came prepared.
Laugh until I cry !!! 😂
As you all see five small boats circling the Zumwalt, I see five decorations at the bottom of the sea collecting coral and algae😁
what did the title of this video have to do with the content? Click Bait??? Just to attrack viewers ...
Dave forgot the most important thing it's a ghost because it could go invisible😊
I like the look of this ship (ship to be or dream ship) reminds me of the sttel ships of the North/ South civil war of a century of 2 ago
You're thinking of The Monitor and The Merrimack

Nice advert for the US Navy. I may have missed it, but 'what happened next!'
ZMWalt DDG-1000 never sailed a few miles beyond San Diego coast, it has so many issues that US navy stopped ordering any of that model.
Almost true. I saw it in Baltimore a few years ago, on display.
They stopped ordering because of cost, not problems with the class.
I worked on we as a country got robbed on this ship
I wonder about the cost-effectiveness of the Zumwalt's systems: what is the cost of a missile used to (potentially) destroy an outboard motor boat?
In the almost 20 years of using UA-cam this is only the second time I will block a channel.
Usually I just ignore them, but this thing is a special kind of awful.
I can't find how to block a channel?
Start by learning the difference between a ship and a boat.
Not What I was Expecting.....I Wanted to See Death and Destruction!!!!
Don't we all!
Nothing but click bait. No pirates blowing up. Garbage video .
Cargo needs serious protection, this beast is awesome.
I had no idea that pirate ships/boats had such technology. It's no wonder they are so brazen and have been so successful at pirating merchant ships.
the title of this video should mention that it does not show an actual attack
Usual clickbait...
It clearly does if you read the description
If the pirates can get the U.S. to fire a $1.5 MILLION Harpoon missile at a $1.5 THOUSAND inflatable boat, they've already won.
Stealth for ships at sea does not work against radar. The normal wave action at sea appears as a fairly uniform field to radar. To radar, a stealth ship appears as a blank area in that uniform field and is easily detected.
Bullshit
The problem is that neither one , nor the other waves return - so they are not able to extract anything.
well I guess we are doomed. I reckon you have thought of everything the engineers did not
@@jayd19631 No engineers needed to know how the principle on which the radar works and a minium of logic. Let alone why the hell they're still producing the stealth technology knowing it is that "useless" that even a wal-mart - bought radar can detect them?
Your sub captions block half of the images !!!!!
Pirates have radar in their fishing boats?
Is this real or just a simulation?
Most of the video's are made up story tellers! There are some that are true and I do research on all this, this did not happen
I am a former Navy Commander, Nuclear Submarines. I spent my whole naval career on subs. I do not know much of our surface fleet or tactics as I was always on independent duty, spec ops. I do know surface fleet warfare tactics and abilities, at least from many years ago. That is thanks to the naval war college. I also can build a nuclear weapon thanks to the US Gov. But somehow I disbelive much of what this guy says, as the persons response I am reading below me seems to imply. He seems much more knowledgeable than me. The US navy, men and women are the only thing left in this country that keeps our country sovereign.,
I highly doubt even if pirates got aboard, Ho would they gain entry into the ship? While the are trying the crew would annihilate them.
your right. its so stealthy i cant even see what youre talking about. no way those pirates will find it.
Totally out of topic , title n content .
Waste time of the viewers 😂😂😂 anyway good job to gain more viewers .. title should be out of topic n the Contain should be different the title as you guys has done 😅😅😅😅
Well, that was 13:26 wasted that I'll never get back.
Does anyone else feel like they lost IQ points watching this??
The long story tells a lot unsaid about this LCS, which only 3 out of the over 30 ordered. This failure in using its original main gun of which each round would cost over USD 800k per round.
You might consider going back to grammar school.
You may want to do more research. This is not an LCS, which is a much smaller ship. This is a Guided Missile Destroyer.
LCS , Little Crappy Ship ?
Wow, most outstanding!!!
too technical and why are we telling the world what the ship can do?
Agree. The scenario was so farfetched that I believe it was just a way to expose the capabilities of a US destroyer, but cloaked in an absurd attack scenario using Somalian pirate wooden fishing boats with radar capability. There was so much more info on all the weapons and guidance systems then an actual attack scenario.
Title should read "This is what COULD happen". By saying "this is what happened", you imply that this actually took place.
The intimidation factor??? When you are a 20 foot long wooden boat carrying 50 pound Somalians with AK's lookind at a 15,000 ton US Naval Destroyer, do you really need to see a gun turret to know you're about to be obliterated?
@@joofooxx2852 Agree. If you know you have the capabilities to destroy the enemy, then you don't need to show off your capabilities.
@@JTx3c If you are Somalian pirates in 20 foot wooden boats looking to attack a 15,000 ton US destroyer you shouldn't need to see anything else. If you're that stupid to try to attack such a ship then seeing their full range of weapons probably isn't going to deter you.
What a stupid comment !!!
You don’t understand the Zumwald and the whole purpose of why it was built, and what it’s mission is !!
Is there any footage of pirates attacking this vessel?!
This is the class of ships that was overpriced and has many flaws that they can’t do any job half right. The navy really dropped the ball on these ships ( but I guess you could say that about any branch of miliatary project)
The navy uses sailors, no soldiers.
It’s hard to believe that an American Warship would be used to prevent pirates from attacking the normal ships.
Just what do you mean by a comment like that? Isn't that what warships are made to be used for?
You don't know squat! Warships from many nations have been used in pirate suppression since 2008. I participated so I know.
@georgelowe8583 "From the halls of Montezuma to the shores of Tripoli..." What do you think that song was about? I think you can fairly say we've been doing exactly that for a long time.
Well, someone didn't serve. Multi national military navies have protected shipping off Somalia.

Looks like a Civil War ironclad!
I believe the Zumwalt class of ships have been a huge miss for the Navy.
