  • Massive thanks to Dakine Europe for sending me this rather lovely Hot Laps 5L Waist Pack.
    They noticed I was a fan and thought I could do with a larger brighter model.
    This isn't a review as I havent used it yet, I just thought I'd do an unboxing video as #thisistheway on UA-cam..
    Here's a few previous videos on my Dakine Hot Laps 2L pack...

    If you're looking to make the move from your trusty backpack, and join the lumbar pack movement, Hot Laps 5L is a great way to do that. It comes with a squat 2L, lumbar-shaped hydration reservoir, and still has plenty of space to stow all the gear you're used to having on hand for your rides. The cargo pocket features organization for a phone, tools, food, and a light shell. Lower straps untuck to hold any bulky knee pads while side compression straps keeps the load close as you empty your water, and the breathable AirFlow back panel does away with the hotspots and "pack sweat" you're used to pedaling through. ........

    Looking forward to a comparison with the Source Hipster. I've got the Hot Laps 2L and absolutely love it but looking to get one with a bladder for longer rides. Great Work mate!

      I have only used it for a short ride and I’m working out the pros and cons. I’ll be using this for a few rides to see how I get on.

      Dan Swallow could already instantly tell you the merits one has over the other.

    I used take the p out of mates with bum bags , but I think I’m going to have eat humble pie , they look perfect for a 1-2hr ride 😬

      Don't get me wrong, a full back pack still has a place but for a few hours a "bum bag" is ideal.. Depending on the size you can also manage bigger rides too.

    I see a lot more of these types of bags at trail centres, lighter then carrying a full pack, especially if you are close to a trail centre shop, no need to carry as much spares, still have a full pack for those marathon rides.

      Well I seem to have a lot of them now too! A big bag is still the only way to cover you on a big ride...

    How do you compare this pack to the Source Hipster?

    Hello, can you wear this bag crossbody or is the strap not long enough?

    • @TimFromWales
      @TimFromWales  2 роки тому

      Hi - yes the strap can be adjusted long enough but like most slings, you will find it wants to find the lowest point of gravity. Therefore if you try to wear it like that and cycle you will likely find it under your arm pit or even swinging around by your chest.

      @@TimFromWales Hey man thanks for the response. Im more interested in wearing it crossbody to use as a bag to carry stuff when Im not MTBing so I guess it will be fine.

      Problem with these bigger bum bags is that you have more weight to carry around.. And it can move around your waist if theres too much
