How long have you been playing? I've been playing Trombone for 5 years and bass trombone the past 2. I have two tips for you, first of all Id grease that slide, it should not be able to be still without a slide lock, I recommend the Yamaha slide grease that comes in a purple bottle, the other thing is be consistent, if you learn something one day it does no good if you're not applying that knowledge to everything you do in the future. Keep up the good work.
@rdrjmarston I've been playing trombone for 2 years. You are doing great for 5 months of playing. I think you should work on tounging. Just toung a Bb for like 30 minutes. Also, when doing a slur, it is important to toung a little bit.
I’ve never played trombone in my life, I’ve been playing trumpet for 2 years and I started playing saxophone yesterday, (I sound like a 6th grader on the saxophone, I can barely play hot cross buns 😭)
I play trombone as well. I recommend warming up by playing high notes and reading sheet music. and practicing fundamentals is just as important as learning something new on an instrument, so I encourage you to review things like slide positions, embouchure, and counting. trombone is a difficult instrument to master, but I believe you will get there.
Kinda unrelated, but I’ve never played trombone in my life, I’ve been playing trumpet for 2 years and I started playing saxophone yesterday, (I sound like a 6th grader on the saxophone, I can barely play hot cross buns 😭)
You're doing really great for 5 months, a lot of the notes you played had good tone! You should get a bottle of trombone slide grease to make that thing smoother. I also recommend you take lessons, because with those you'll see improvement so quickly! Keep up the work, because I"m sure you will continue to enjoy band!
I love the enthusiasum. I will say, you do need to tongue a little bit more(make a Ta, or Da sound). A also saw that you let go of the slide while it was in between 2nd and 3rd, and it stayed still. I would recomend greasing it. Otherwise, you sound quite good.
OK, so I euphonium and I’d say the best thing you can do is get a book of music and make sure the first song you start off with is hot cross buns just because it’s the easiest thing to play. I have a bunch of trombones in my music class and we all started on all grass and now we’re playing jingle Bell so it’s nothing.
Hey I'm a Jazz And Concernt tromboneist I recommend getting a book like the tradtion of excellence and reading from there and work on on your embuchure to play higher notes I see a great bone player in you man
I am also a trombone player and I am a high schooler. If you need tips I can give you some. I have been playing for about 4 years and have learned a lot
Tip 1: to make a good embosure you need to shape your mouth like your saying Mmm, then tighten the tips of your cheeks. With enough practice you’ll be able to make good sound on a trombone
ok ive been playing trombone for 2 years and i can recommend just practacing alot you should always bother to take your instrument home and always play warm ups excersizes firm corners and buzz my friend who used to play buzzed his lip to make the sound of a helicopter which caused him to play so low i hope u dont make the same mistake also space between the teeth

You sound pretty good for playing for 5 months, keep playing and you'll progress greatly.
Thanks
I am a high school band director and with some work and lessons you could be really good, keep it up

I’m in band already and I already made a tutorial how to clean the trombone

This is me adding on. I will say the tonguing is a little less important with how long you have been playing.
