Combining the defined snap of maple with the punch and resonance of mahogany, the Pearl Masterworks Heritage Sonic-Select four-piece shell pack is fit for a wide range of recording and live performance applications. Masterworks Heritage shells feature two plies of maple over two plies of mahogany, bolstered by four-ply maple reinforcement rings, delivering thunderous low-end tone with plenty of midrange punch too. Masterfully-shaped 45-degree bearing edges enhance projection and resonance, while FatTone hoops provide impressive tuning stability in a lightweight design.

Nick is SW´s biggest asset!
I am not a huge Pearl guy but this kit sounds great, probably the best pearl kit I have heard then again I always love the sound of mahogany shells and maple so a winning combo.
How I love mahagony on drums! The sizes are just perfect. 14x22 kick drum has body and punch. Makes me wanna play a lush 70s rock song.
14x22 is what john bohnam used before he used a 26 inch, I belive led Zepplins debut has a 22
Pearl drums are tough and the sound is very versatile, you can't go wrong 👍🏼
Hey Sweetwater, thank you for reviewing this kit!! Masterworks is top-of-the-line stuff and is a dream kit of many. I would love to see you make a video series on designing custom high end kits and ordering them through Sweetwater and how that works- designing the kit, pricing, ordering, everything that goes into it, and it would be cool to see you do this with Pearl Masterworks/Masterworks Sonic-Select, Pearl Music City Custom, Gretsch USA Custom/Broadkaster, DW Collectors, Yamaha PHX, Tama STAR series, and all of the high end customizable drum sets that you sell. It would be super cool to understand the process of making a custom order so that when the time comes, it will be easy to navigate. Thanks!!
Nick is such a good drummer
OMG! What a beautiful finish.
I have a Masterworks custom kit from the early days of this series. They sound and look amazing. I am confident they have only gotten better. My first serious kit was a Pearl and I have owned several others. No risk in buying the higher end Pearl kits.
Super hi-end Pearl Kit! What amazed me is that even with the snares engaged I didn't hear any bleed-through from the toms or the kick. The lugs are cool. These sound amazing. I always thought I would be a Tama drummer but Pearl makes amazing kits, especially on their high-end drum line.
U know I have watched a lot of your drum videos here.....the problem I am having is , in every drum set u demo, they are ALL GREAT.... SO IN FACT I DO NOT HAVE A CLUE , which are truly great verses good ,never any poor, for comparison, and I could only in the end come to your store, (I am not because I live in THE NETHERLANDS. So listening through ones phone or computer ) The sound is really getting filtered through this electric stuff. So I am very happy to find such demos as yours , but Its hard to start thinking of making a choice based much on the sound I heard here. I am American, USED to live in New Jersey, right on the HUDSON RIVER , West NEW York, union city, etc. I am after watching considering purchasing a set, 4 or 5 piece set, etc.....I not even close to seriousness about it....one because I am going on 74, and second I last played drums way back in reLLY THE MID SIXTIES..... AND lastly I obviously have to re learn it all!!!! Not sure IF I feel like doing that....though the NMORE I WATCH THE MORE I AM INTERESTED,YIKE WHAT m I THINKING? I need to do something with so much free time, which is my greatest everyday little problem. PS DO U SMOKE CIGARS?? I KEEP getting that every time I see u ,I smoke cigars the good ones. Stephen
Nice sounding drums and great demo .Thank you !
Great review Nick. Sure these drums are amazing.
What a nice intro Nick!!! awesome drumming. I've seen a lot of your reviews but this is my favourite.
Got my eye on a Pearl Export EXX 7 piece, Smokey Chrome 😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍 need it
*me watching this vid even though i have a pearl roadshow*
shed till they give you kits for free
LMAO! :)
Best "demodrummer" on internet!
The drums sound great!
Nick gets it done!
Sounds amazing! I want one!
Guitar is my no1 instrument but do play drums , still when i hear the term tone wood , my reflex is to stop drop n duck . This kit is top shelf .
Hey! Great video as always! But considering the unprecedented crises due to the covid-19 along with the economic meltdown around the corner, it would be great to see how drums below the 1000 dollars threshold sound like. Everyone will agree with me that money is really a concern more than ever. So...bring the entry level marvels, please!
Cheers from Brazil!
Those drums sound perfect as they are...
I like the looks and sound of this kit. Maybe someday.
Nice! I have a Pearl Wood Fiberglass kit along with a Sensitone aluminum snare, and I love it! Too bad I'll never be able to afford a Masterworks set.
Ayyyyy the beginning track is from y’all’s DW Purple Heart snare video back in the day!
PSS, My last set was high end Pearl....I was pretty good in my day, and never thought I would never again play....but my biggest dream was travel.....and I have ,in fact I left in 74, and never made it back to the states. Nor did I settle down and when I did , I had no one no time drums and hadn't played since 65....I never learned nor was I taught ,I am self taught, but never learned paradiddles nor learned to bounce the sticks! So I only played single strokes so I had to learn to make up for my poor learning curve to use speeding order to play anything well enough....and that made me by accident rather local famous. So travel and doing my childhood dream , made me have to sell my kit, thinking I would be back in the states perhaps after 6 months or a year....however I found ways to keep traveling so I kept traveling , in the end I travel many years over this glob but I could not carry a full set a drums of course ,so I just never made it back home or played drums . In those days (65, ) I would work near every weekend etc, got 200 dollars a gig, which at the time was happy to get , but I thought it was not much at the time.....not realizing I was pretty lucky having constant work, OOPS! So I guess I am looking for a little feedback a little encouragement , and if I do this , I need to at least take lessons to learn to bounce the damn sticks !±
how can ANYONE possibly dislike this
why's the volume so low?
Waiting for the Giveaway.. Sweetwater😀😀
I see those Steve Gadd sticks 😎
What the hell was that lick at 10:46? Geez!
Drums sound warm and vintage
TY
Its time to represent the POWER TOM Players! Thank you.
Hey Pearl! Make these lugs available on a lower priced line of drums!
Wonder if I made a shirt that says, "I prefer playing with a hole" would sell? What type of graphic should go w/it? Maybe a chick or a bass drum?
Both a chick and a bass drum would do fine.
@@warrenoids yes I like both holes just as much.
What is a depth of 13 inch rack Tom and 16 inch floor tom?
Could you please make a new video about the DW Performance series? Because the video is about 5 years old and is not in such a good Audio quality
Good luck everyone.
I just can’t get over why some better design concepts, like having the snare mechanics divided to each side of the drum, take so long to be the norm.
this kit needs a 24" kick drum!
modern drummer festival 2003に出てた人だ!
Those Toms sound great. I'm not digging the bass drum, too short and punchy, not enough body, IMO. The snare I could take it or leave it, sounds good though. The stars of this kit though are those toms!
Burke Madding Well, he did he had it dampened. I’m sure it would sing pretty good if it was wide open.
As they say... « you can take the Pearls out of the cardboard (boxes) but you can’t the take cardboard (sound) out of the Pearls »
Mette B I respectfully disagree but once you go DW...you never go back
DW best drums on the planet
Snare is a little bit "bad".....!!!
:/
Set. dammit
luv the lugs. but lets be realistic, who can afford $5500 bucks? can Nick lol? these drum companies are going to what audience?
The audience for these are their big endorsers. It’s like the tama STAR series; tama provides super famous drummers like Matt Garstka with their STAR kits.
The average professional player would settle with a starclassic.
Ppl with money or pro drummers something for everyone
Ron Deangelis There are lots of people around the world that can drop 5500 on a kit. Drive through any city & look at all the 500,000-1,000,000 dollar homes. That’s half (or even a quarter) of a monthly mortgage payment to those folks. It’d be the equivalent of me dropping 300 bucks on a kit.
Personally, I wouldn’t buy a kit this expensive, even if I had the money, simply because I don’t think it translates to better sound after you get to the 1,500-2,000 dollar range. If I did have 6 grand to drop on a kit, I’d buy a good used kit (like a Ludwig Classic Maple or Yamaha Recording Custom) & spend the rest of that money on snares, cymbals, hardware, mics, mixers etc.
Now, if I had 5 million in the bank? Sure.....why not!🤣
I’d probably own 10 high end drum kits.
@@susanmaggiora4800 susan your right now when you think about it. all relative 👍
Master works the most over priced drums on the market
Next to star classic
