Any way you look at it that is a FAST car. In 1968 I purchased a slightly used 67 SS 396 350 HP Chevelle that had 410 gears with a 4 speed trans. With the cut-ou's open and cheater 7" slicks my best time was 12.56 @108.xx MPH at Englishtown Raceway Park, NJ on a Wed night. The car would run in the 13's all day long
Beautiful car. But even a highly blueprinted "Stock" L89 would be doing good to get very far into the 12's. I know F.A.S.T. rules allow for a ton of modifications. The right term to use is "Stock Appearing".
The Chevelles with the L89 run in the mid to high 13's. The speed of 114 mph tells me it's not stock. It has at least 450+ hp to hit that speed. A blueprinted L89 would raise the horsepower to 425 still not enough to run that speed.
Nice numbers, 11s!!! on that '70 SS L-89. I own one even better Code 72-B '69 SS 396/375 L-89. Just the best of the best with an M-22, 3:73 rear and chambered exhaust.
F.A.S.T. series racing....Factory Appearing Stock Tire.....It does run a stock tire with very little to almost no tread.....the engine has to appear stock but internally it doesn't have to be (extrude hone heads, intake, and exhaust manifolds, raised compression ratio, aftermarket camshaft, aftermarket ignition, etc.)....not surprised at all this car does 11's.....The Pure Stock or Factory Stock series has a much stricter set of rules that doesn't allow for these modications and ET's are much closer to factory oem times of the day.....Beautiful L78 396 with L89 aluminum heads Turbo 400 auto. in Tuxedo Black 👍🏽
I loved watching these guys at BSD track out in PA. They have some serious fast cars in that club. Id love to do that with my 68 SS but that gets expensive!
I think more accurately this Chevelle "appears" stock. The LS-6's were in the 13's from the factory so I'm not sure how this "stock" 396 runs more than a second faster. A lot of people think that era of GM aluminum heads were somehow different or better from the cast iron heads but in fact they used the same castings and were just lighter.....but not a second's worth of lighter.
Shenanigans is right! If the car was all stock it would run stock times & speeds! Those cars are highly modified. They shave the tread off of the tires, they drive the car with the tires almost flat, so to break down the side walls. That gives the tire the ability to flex similar to a wrinkle wall slick. As per the video the suspension is adjustable . Stock suspensions are'nt adjustable! I could go on but space is limited!
Not stock. Not even close based on the trap speed. I'd bet it's got a hidden nitrous kit or it's actually like a warmed over 434 stroker or something. First, SS396 L89/78 would maybe trap 100 on a great tune. Not 112. Then your "suspension" mods gained you 2.5mph, but suspension mods don't improve trap speed like that. Of course, the suspension isn't stock either. In any case, nice looking car and some great tuning regardless. Everybody loves these types of videos as it stirs up the debate over how fast these muscle cars really were. Stock, an SS396 L89 Chevelle automatic was probably about a 14.2 second car at maybe 97mph with some traction bars and a great run.
Yeah when the run in the F.A.S.T. races they require them to appear stock but you can actually modify the motor to the max internally and even extrude hone the original manifolds.
Had a red 1 exactly like this one only difference I has 15" Rocket racing rims(5 spoke like Craigars but had a spine in middle of spokes dropped off at a angle)which are great looking rims & BF Radial T/A's. Best I ever did was 13.83 @87mph, She averaged 14.3-14.7 depending on what time of year.
@@bobbellow5502In high school, I had 70 Chevelle SS clone with a 350/300, Turbo 400, 4.11 gears with Dunlop Qualifier L60 tires. All stock drivetrain it outran every 426 hemi it came across that wanted some. Real talk.
I didn’t know 70 Chevelles came with reverse manual valve bodies (watch the burn outs through the passenger window) and adjustable suspensions. Guy is a liar. Just admit it’s lightened and has a 500+ in stroker.
cool ride! I dig the reverse manual column shift! Money right there!
That is the biggest STOCK cam I have ever heard 😂

What are you adjusting on an “all stock” suspension?
The nitrous bottle is bolted to the shocks.....
So is it 'STOCK" or F.A.S.T ???? in the beginning of the video F.A.S.T. scrolls on the screen , to me that stands for Factory APPEARING Stock Tire ???

I can’t lie… that MR2 was MOVING!!!
Stock looking yes.
All stock my ass! Those exhaust manifolds are ported, the suspension is maxed out per the rules, and there are lots of modifications!
its a F.A.S.T car not stock and definitely worked over, typical Chevy low life always full of shit
that's why it's called F.A.S.T..
Great car, gotta love it!
I love that sound
the only thing stock in this car is the ash tray.
Yeah, but what did the Jeep Cherokee run?
L89 available in 1970?
Fuck yeah, awesome Chevelle
What suspension adjustments??? Stock?
@@suzukiltz8902 yeah probably air pressure.
Cracks me up when people do a burnout on stock polyglass tires. Shows their inexperience.
Cool class. Nice car.
What happened to the red chevelle!
She will be coming out again shortly!
Beautiful 😍 is that a column shifter? Turbo 400? 4.11s?..Love it! Be Safe☮️🙏
Yes all the above!

You'd better believe it, ha, ha ha, go Chevelle.

Great looking ride but it can’t be stock in the 12s…
You can listen to the cam and tell it's not stock
stock is about 14 seconds, that car is not even close to stock. click bait
Especially on 7 inch stock tires!
@@michaelfuchs6730 Right. Even if that engine was actually stock with stock size tires it would not hook like that. Even with suspension mods
OK. I'll bite. How is a L89 in a 1970 car "All stock"?
It’s an aluminum heads L78. Some 70 Chevelles came with them
IM NOT BUYIN IT,faster than a ls6,this guy is giving us the business
Early 1970 Chevelles only.
Nice
Thanks
No way!
Bull!
The only thing stock about this car is the sheet metal.
It's rusted out and frame has holes in it so it much lighter than stock one more run and it will blow
Stock my ass. I've seen a 325 hp 69 Camaro run 10 flat with a 2 bbl carb. Stock is a term they use. Not stock produced.
That thing is way past stock.
1970 chevelles don't run 11s stock.
Dream on
Factory appearing stock tire..not stock
All stock ....give us a break break of the stupidity it maybe look stock but the engine internals have been re-worked

Great car shit music
Stock? Hahaha! No way in h__l!
BS
