Lyrics: (the ones that I grew up knowing) [...]- Repeats twice Apple trees and pear trees were a flower, river mist was rising all around. [Young Katyusha came strolling by the hour, on the steep banks, o'er the rocky ground] By the river bank she sang a love song, of her hero in a distant land. [Of the one she dearly loved for so long, holding tight his letter in her hand.] Oh my song, song of a maiden's true love, to my dear one travel with sun. [To the one whom Katyusha loved so, bring my greeting to him one by one.] Let him know l that I am true and faithful, let him hear the love song that I send. [Tell him as he defends our home that grateful, true Katyusha our love will defend.]
Even though I am not Russian but whenever I listen to this song I can feel and empathise with the lost Russian souls during world war 2, fighting for a country they believed in.
They died running into a machinegun because they were forcefully recruited by a country they didn't care much about, too. Don't forget about those guys.
@@staringgasmask most of my relatives who fought in the war fought for the people they loved, for the land they cared about. And they still tell the stories of fright and absolute terror to us till this day. Even scared, they did it for their land. Its hard to understand, its okay. Take it easy.
For some reason, listening to this take on the song with just a sole piano stirs more of my soul than a whole band and quire ever did. Maybe it's just the harmony between each hand and the extra flourishes that are simply impossible to coordinate between 50 people, or the dark texture and tone of the piano, but what's for sure is that the dedication put towards making this composition was immense. Thank you for this extra addition to UA-cam, it really made my day.
there is a rendition where some people sing on an airplane, which sounds really good imo. but if you prefer the piano to an actual choir you would probably like piano composers like chopin and liszt

This is the first song I learned in my life. I was 4-5 years old. I spent the summer at a dacha with my grandparents and they told me the words. I then thought it would be great if I had a wife named Katya. It's funny but after more than 20 years I met with my "...And love Katyusha saves...": o)
I always remember playing tetris to this song when I was a kid. Good memories. People always seem to overemphasize classical Germanic pianists, but honestly in my opinion Russia's talent can match that of many of those classical artists.
@IJN Yamato She did ride in one though but she wasn't singing. She rode in a Katyusha when she came to meet Miho before the match. It was the Jeep but the rockets were removed, leaving only the platform.

For those foreigners who think Katyusha is the Communist song. Actually it isnt. Communistic isnt equal to Soviet. Soviet means rather national and cultural ( mainly russian) identity than ideological identity. Please don't mix these things, because communism didnt inspire anyone of the famous soviet songwriters of the XX century, though their songs were censored
I don't think the generalization comes from foreigners trying to discredit Russian culture but because most well-known socialist songs (socialist because that's what the song is usually about, a message, be it political or patriotic) are good- sound good to most.

fun fact: german workers drank rocket fuel, because of the high percentage of alcohol in it. When that was found out the nazis put some poison it it, but the people kept drinking it and got sick or they just left. so in short: russian tanks run on vodka, but german factory worker drink rocket fuel.
Italian soldiers re-used this song during the war against the nazis and the fascists (the italian resistence). The italian name for this song is "fischia il vento" (the melody was slightly changed)
I know this because my whole family (my grand-parents, uncles and cousins) were in the "partigiani" (partisans) which were the soldiers who fought for liberty and the ones who survived told us about the chants... Etc and some of those soldiers which were sentenced by the Nazi-fascists became fameous
Анастасия Асланова well, actually that's not true because a lot of song which where sang during the civil war became fameous (take "Bella ciao" as an example)

[...]- Repeats twice
Apple trees and pear trees were a flower, river mist was rising all around. [Young Katyusha came strolling by the hour, on the steep banks, o'er the rocky ground]
By the river bank she sang a love song, of her hero in a distant land. [Of the one she dearly loved for so long, holding tight his letter in her hand.]
Oh my song, song of a maiden's true love, to my dear one travel with sun. [To the one whom Katyusha loved so, bring my greeting to him one by one.]
Let him know l that I am true and faithful, let him hear the love song that I send. [Tell him as he defends our home that grateful, true Katyusha our love will defend.]

Hello Sir Stalin
Cringe
For those foreigners who think Katyusha is the Communist song. Actually it isnt. Communistic isnt equal to Soviet. Soviet means rather national and cultural ( mainly russian) identity than ideological identity. Please don't mix these things, because communism didnt inspire anyone of the famous soviet songwriters of the XX century, though their songs were censored
Thanks for the information,we foreigners often get confused on those things.
Hadn’t you heard about socrealism?
I don't think the generalization comes from foreigners trying to discredit Russian culture but because most well-known socialist songs (socialist because that's what the song is usually about, a message, be it political or patriotic) are good- sound good to most.
@Gavin Griffin Dirty Capitalist
But patriotic inspire them

- Stalin's fridge for the turret
- a stalinium reinforced hull
- a vodka-powered engine (cheaper than other fuel, and more powerful)
- a vodka-powered crew
- a 152mm communism spreader
I used this to USA now its USSR

-Stalin’s guitar as turret and gun
-slap more Stalinium
-limit the mobility
-mass produce (f for real life ww2 tho)
-capture berlin
If you didnt follow the and last 2 parts, it aint a Russian tank
Actually the engine is powered by the will of the proletariat masses. And the shells are guided by directive from the General Secretary.
Or Just add a Creeper on a Minecart and you get the KV2
