Hey JWittz, if you like games like this and stardewvalley, check out rune factory 4 on the switch. It's a life sim like this, but an action rpg which you level up everything you do. Really fun.
No offense, but what you did is worse than signing a pact with the Devil himself. Supporting such horrible people as Tim Sweeney and Ooblets developers, is just immoral and disgusting.

Out of all possible offers he took the one from the company which doesn't care for its customers (Tim literaly said that customers have nothing to say in the market) and repeatedly "bought" exclusivity from devs that promised to release the game on steam. Really I'd personally have less problems with RAID sponsorships tbh

Yup I remember that. That's why I not buying it. I still hate how people act towards and treat customers. It's sad because it's looks fun but I'm against both toxic anti-consumer practices by companies/Indy devs and predatory practices.

The devs were being incredibly unpleasant on discord. When a long-term patreon supporter, a single father from Malaysia, asked how he's meant to buy the game now since the Epic store doesn't support his currency, they told him 'no amount of terrible life experiences means someone owes you a game'.
That's not goofy, that's demeaning.
@@KCzz15 There was a lot more to that conversation that got cut out to be spread around with other bits and pieces out of context, that one included. There is not a single screenshot in reference to the debate/announcement that isn't either completely out of context/missing a lot of bits and pieces or photoshopped entirely.

The second worst thing about ooblets that the dev's aren't planning on bringing it to the switch (for now). I honestly think it'd be a perfect fit!

@@Randy_AP And that's perfectly fine, some people prefer different platforms for gameplay modes. I'm not a big fan of multiplayer games so I tend to ignore the multiplayer options. But since the game gives off such a wholesome vibe and is a mix of pokemon, animal crossing and harvest moon (or other farm sims) I think it'd be a perfect fit!

The only reason I even knew of this game was because of the developer's sniddy remark to backers about making this game an Epic Games exclusive. That immediately turned me off from the game.

Sort of. They got super salty after getting some disgusting messages from people who were mad about the game being EGS exclusive, mainly because it was originally supposed to be on Steam. But their reaction was not good. They lowered themselves to that level and bit back. They should have stuck to being the bigger people.

While I respect your decision to do this, JWittz, I really won't support this game, due to the manner the game devs acted when they decided to go Epic Store exclusive. Instead of calmly explaining why it was beneficial for them as indie devs to go exclusive, they derided and condescended critics, and have continued to do so, even after the announcement
I'd recommend, viewers, to do your own research about this game's history before forming an opinion, but to give you an idea, one of the questions on their discord was asking how they'd be able to purchase the game if the Epic Store didn't support their regional currency. One of the devs responded with 'You'll have to wait I guess! No one owes you the game.' They deflected a question about availability by regarding it as entitlement
This may be a few devs going rogue, but a lot about the games history shows a record of unprofessionalism and condescension. I personally won't be supporting the game, and I advise anyone to think about this kind of baggage before doing so themselves. I don't condemn your coverage, Josh, but this info should be out there

As much as I like Ooblets the game content and art style. The fact that the devs tried to defend/explain themselves being epic exclusive in the most condencending way. . . is not how you support your backers.
Admittedly they did that because they were being threatened by angry people, but they were still unprofessional and acted in an unacceptable manner.

Ah, this is the game who's devs decided to take a corporate payout to make it an exclusive to EGS despite the fact they were taking fan donations to make the game and promised them it would be on Steam, and when the fans complained, berated them and called them entitled. A lovely game made by lovely people.

I agree. This is why I only play on console because the PC has so many game stores, but when you play on the PlayStation and Switch, you don't have to go through all that.
@@narata1541 normally I just get games on PC since they run better, but the fact that they said ooblets is permanently on the epic store, I'll take it on the switch (it would be more appealing on switch anyways)

The only sim game to ever stress me out like that, which I've recently been continuing after years of forgetting about it, is harvest moon tale of 2 towns. Man do I love that game!

I remember watching this video when it was new. Now, 3 years later, I came back to it. Why? My local library had a physical copy of Ooblets for Switch, and I borrowed it. And now I breathe Ooblets.

This sounds like me big time. In stardew valley I get burnt out from retrying the same day over and over again because none of my tries are perfect.

@@PeterGriffin11 They promised that it would come out on Steam, went back on their word, and when people got reasonably upset over this, they went against their kind facade and immediately started cursing out their fans, even ones who were upset only cause the Epic Games Store didn't accept the currency from their country natively
iirc they backed out of a steam release (after promising one?) then released a very condescending statement, making light of people's complaints regarding the epic game store. Personally I wouldn't mind them backing out of the steam release had they just properly explained it, just with the way they handled it, I ain't planning on supporting it right now either.

Everyone please do your research on epic games, there’s potential that as a Chinese company they take your information. Please please, there’s a reason why there was major drama with Ooblets. Plus the devs were very rude and lied to their donators about the platform release :(

@@namingisdifficult408 But Tencent is located in China, and it's in the chinese constitution to take any information from a company at a moments notice and without telling you. This isn't a conspiracy theory it's a country that literally gives it's citizens a score that determines how well they get to live based on how much of a "good" citizen they are.
Companies like google, sony, nintendo take your info yes, but they are also located in countries with a legal obligation to keep you in the know about how safe your data is.
@@anthonee414 it's becoming easier and easier to steal your Identity and your money with a few bits of info now. If your DOB, name and address are found that can be built on to fill out other info that free out there.
Trust me there is a lot of damage that can be done.
Now if your data is in a company in the EU, US or Japan they have laws set in place to protect your data. With serious fines and lawsuits if they fail. But China can literally just take any data and not tell anyone as a part of their law. Because any company in China is automatically owned by China itself.
Now you may think that you're "too small for china to care" but they have bots now that just process your data as reference points, they don't need to focus on you to do any damage. And lets be honest here if there's 2 countries you don't want with the names and addresses of hundreds of thousands of citizens in other countries, it's Russia and China.

I've been loosely following the dev of this game since 2017 or 2018, I gotta say I'm floored by how much game is already here in early access. My head was spinning from following your min-max journey in the earliest days of early access, it's amazing to see how far they've come.
I'm floored by how badly they treated people with genuine concern about the EGS. Especially when some of them were backers.
