Sammy is nearly 75, and the dude can still rock the house. Kids---this is what a true professional musician looks, and sounds like.
He was in his late 60's when this was filmed but he's still going strong today.
@death to the suburbs I didn't either
@death to the suburbs Yeah, this was the first episode which aired in Jan. 2016 so this would have been filmed in 2015.
tommy lee looks way older than sammy
Amen to that - they actually play instruments!!!!! Music to stand the test of time.
I love how Tommy-Lee just LOVES playing those drums and looks like he's having the best time. Awesome eye-contact! Great to see Michael and Sammy really displaying their comfort and mastery of their instruments.
Tommy still has the enthusiasm of a kid in his first band!
How good was tha!
Damn bro sounds like you might need a little therapy for Tommy and Sammy
I’m trying to see how much shit I can talk before I get kicked off of Facebook again it’s my favorite thing to do trying to break the record
I mainly like white music
This is unbelievable! Sammy pushing 75?!! ? The man is ageless and what a voice! Love these guys! Thank you UA-cam for pushing this video my way. Hit the spot.
2016 video
He looks like he's in his 50s. Not 70s.
The smile on Tommy’s face is priceless! He is a great dude.
You can tell Bonham was his idol by how hard he hits the drums.
Absolutely!!! Tommy has good taste because I feel Bonham and Paige have been my two favorites since I was a little girl. Then as a teen of course it was Motley Crue.
There is truly nobody like Sammy's voice and guitar playing. This style of Rock suits him best. A true gem.
You are so right
Jorge. Sammy is classic rock. classic rock wasnt dubbed classic rock back then. not until grunge and alternative hit town..did our rock music from the 80s and earlier, now become the genere 'Classic Rock'..well Sammy has had that classic rock sound since early 70s..naturally.
This episode is from 2016… Doesn’t change the fact that Sammy is a badass!
@@MaximumDecibels lol. It's always been classic rock. Back in the day I guarantee someone said to the Beatles, and eventually every band that took that rout, "Man that's going to be an instant classic" therefore it was so. Classic Rock was born from the moment it hit the airwaves.
@@paulcardenas6318 Thanks for the information. I didn't know. I thought it was recent. I looked it up and you are right. This episode was released on January 24, 2016. Thanks for the info.
Any other Sammy's episode you guys recommend?
Tommy clearly LOVES playing. They sound so good in that studio. He's smiling ear to ear!!
Tommy doesn't play the drums, he slays the drums. 🤟
One of the worst rock drummers ever.
This is awesome watching Tommy Lee and Sammy Hagar with Michael Anthony playing a classic song from the 1970s.
As a drummer in my early 60’s I have respect and admiration for Tommy’s enthusiasm and energy. I’ll say the same for my man Sammy. Loved Michael’s Bass chops too. Awesome guys!
Sammy Hagar was such a huge part of my High School years - great music, great memories.
Sammy Hagar must be one of the most underrated front men in rock history. He's an incredible singer. Pure rock n roll voice
How can the lead singer of Van Halen be underrated? They are considered one of the greatest bands of all time
He blows away Diamond Dave
I dont think you know what underrated means..`VAN fn HALEN lead singer.. COUNTLESS gold albums, MILLIONAIRE ten times over..cmon dude.
One of the best power trios I ever heard, right there. Take that shit on the road boys! Play old covers, have guests sit on their hits etc. It would kill at the box office.
Absofuckingposilutel!!y
Mike’s bass sounded incredible.
@Dirk Digler ...and
@Dirk Digler who gives a shit what you think nobody.
@Dirk Digler only you my friend that's why you replied yeah it's a bitch to be butt hurt
Tommy looked like he truly had a good time!
And let me say, Michael Anthony is one of the sweetest, kindest human beings on earth.
Such a chill guy. What a legend both of em
Man, talk about a power trio. Great to see Mikey there to. Sammy. Forever young.
So bad ass. That look on Tommy's face geeking out with Sam and Mike. I was clapping along with him as it was awesome and Tom's vibe was so infectious. Would love to see more jams like that and its cool to see that level of musicianship and appreciation for each others skill set. Kudos gents!
Indeed, Tommy is smiling… think of the things he has seen… this make him smile. genuine!
Michael Anthony made amazing harmonies
It almost seems that Tommy was having more fun playing with Mike and Sammy than with his bandmates. And I totally understand.
its so cool seeing that jack daniels drinking youthful spirit still shine thru tom
Sammy and Tommy. You two are prime examples of breaking the mold on the psychology of aging. Positive attitude says it all gentlemen. Keep doing what your doing. Thank you.
EXACTLY! Tommy has still the SAME energy! And this Sam ogm!
Daayyyummm! I'm 52 years old and have seen all those guys back in the day. I've seen Sammy 4 times, 2 nights in a row in St. Louis. When they just broke into "Rock Candy" I got goosebumps and my eyes teared up!! Fucking Awesome guys, Keep on Rockin'!
tommy has a wicked attack angle drumming, good stuff
You guys make me so proud to say I am part of this generation!!
Wow! This might be one of my favorite jam sessions on UA-cam. Dudes are still killing it!👍🏼
Sammy, your guitar playing was phenomenal so was your voice . The band sounded tight. Greatness never goes out of style......
Never goes out of style, Hard Rock forever.........................
Absolute reason, why rock is still forever!
This was one of the best episodes yet. Really enjoyed the show and soon as I heard the drums, I knew it was Rock Candy. One of my favorite of all Sammy's songs and they rocked it out. Haven't heard anything from Chickenfoot for a while and you know Chad Smith is busy. Might as well pick up Tommy and throw down!
Agree with you enjoyed this 🖤💜
He's running with Jason Bonham on the current tour. I'll see him at the end of August,
Watching Tommy, Michael and Sammy jam was awesome.
Amazing, that was an insane jam...He's 74, and Tommy still killing it
Soon as Tommy threw the beat down, goose bumps...one of the most badass tunes ever! Top notch trio in that room right there! 🤟
Interesting that with all the focus given to Tommy (as guest) and Sammy (as host), the quiet bass player in the studio had the biggest legacy power of all of them. Love Tommy and the Crue, and Sammy and his HoF career path... but they still need to ride backseat to the original Mighty Van Halen with Mike. What a cool dude. Ed and Al treated him like sh!t at the end, but Mike always seemed to hold his cool, understood his place, and worked his ass off amongst the VH circus show. IMHO, that's lasting star power. Sammy's smart to keep Mike close.
Absolutely. Not to mention his killer backing vocals.
Second that.. some of the best backing vocals in all rock music and some of the most badass UA-cam clips of him getting drunk playing bass. These three might be like an all time good dudes of rock trio deal.. good stuff
I don't think Mike wants to get much attention or be a front man. If he did, he would've/would. IMO He does put on a Helluva show live though!
lmao Van halen is awesome but Mike is one of the most over rated bass players of all time - even EVH said so.
@@stevebanning902 Hey Steve - Agree to disagree. EVH may have been the GOAT on guitar and the innovation of the instrument - but he was far from that when it came to his working relationship history. That history has been documented pretty clearly that he was an unreasonable control-freak that threw just about everyone he worked with (other than his brother and son) under the bus along each chapter of the VH story. Yes, Mike may not be GOAT-class when it comes to his bass playing, but to say he is "over-rated" is just wrong. Not only was (is) he under-valued as one of the best "pocket" players and prominent backing singers in rock history, but he was also the glue that helped keep the VH express train rolling as the EVH vs. Roth and EVH vs. Hagar personality battles began to erode each of those chapters in the saga. I love EVH as an innovator - but as a human being and band leader, the way he (and Alex) treated Mike at the end was terrible... In the end, Mike moved on with Sammy to create new music (and hot sauce), tours and positive energy with Chickenfoot, The Waboritas, Planet Us, and now The Circle --- whereas the VH brothers did as little as possible, eventually taking a money grab to release their final mediocre final studio/live recordings and tours with Vaudeville Dave. Again, agree to disagree.
Tommy is one of the best drummers ever !
Tommy Lee is reborn!~! As a 54 year old, who absolutely LOVED the Crew.....thank you, fellas.
Awe, seems like Tommy’s parents did not give up on him & his dream. There is nothing more beautiful than a parents encouragement & unconditional love.
And still love Sammy’s singing voice…so nostalgic. All three still sound amazing!! 👍🏼😍🎸🥁
This should evolve into a side band !
And keep it just a 3 piece.
This truly felt special. Maybe the best I've heard Sammy sing and play guitar together in a long time. And the love and power in Tommy's playing - sweet baby Jesus!! Together with Mr. Anthony this was magic!!!!
The music is great but I wanted to see more of the house. Tommy always has the most amazing properties.
Damn that was a jam. Sammy sounds better when he plays and sings on it. Badass drums too!
This was from 6 years ago, Sammy would have been 68 years old and he was absolutely killing it. Crazy thing is, he’s now 74 and can still do it. I hope he passes on his health secrets to the rest of us.
Yeah, Tommy looked decent here, new it was older.
The guy doesn't have a hateful bone in his body. That's how he does it.
Sammy knows that there's really no such thing as age as long as you're killing it!
His Cabo Wabo Tequila is probably his secret. Cabo Wabo was one of the first 100 percent blue agave tequilas available in the United States. The Red Rocker started the brand because he was looking for a house spirit for his bar.
Playing music keeps you young. He probably doesn't smoke at all or drink much these days and gets to bed early. Plus he's got the best doctor money can buy. Not very Rock & Roll but if he really lived that lifestyle like he did in his 20's & 30's he would have been gone 15 years already.
2 of my favorite bands joining forces…wow this made my day. Happy BDAY to tha GOAT Tommy Lee!!
We built a garage at Tommy Lee's dad's house in Bullhead City, Az., in the early '90s I think it was. He took us into the house and showed us commemorative records he had hanging on the walls. He was very proud of his son.
Valley guy - you're not the contractor who stole the sex tape are u ? 😅😅
I love Tommy! The absolute best and the coolest guy in the world. Rock on Tommy!
Man this was so awesome that Tommy started & Sammy had absolutely NO Clue what song he was gonna pick. Sammy knew it right away. This came together beautifully. Just sounded amazing. (Song: Montrose's- rock candy!) Wow!!
What a true pleasure, honor, and privilege it is to watch this amazing video, so much respect, and admiration it is to hear these guys' anecdotes talk about and play music together...God Bless all of you!!!
I have so many versions of Rock Candy that Sammy has done over the years. His voice sounds just as perfect and strong on this recording as any I have heard. Ronnie Montrose was a joy to listen to and see; on stage with Montrose or Gamma, or performing Town Without Pity on Saturday Night Live.
This was badass, these 3 would make a sick band!
Indeed!
That Jam was epic ! More please.
Wow !!!!!! OMG !!! Every person I know would pay good money to see these legends of rock perform !!!!!! My TV volume was FULL BLAST !!!!
That was an excellent rendition of that song. I can't believe Sammy can still sing like that. Anthony and Lee both were amazingly in the pocket with guitar as well.
This is soooooo great to see - I grew up with Montrose and Sammy. Rock candy is such a kick ass song!!!!! Man, say what you want about Tommy Lee but the dude is an animal on the drums!!!! This sounded amazing!!!!!!!
It's awesome seeing these guys play together! What an awesome live show they could do!
Been a fan of Sammy for a long time. Love his personality and he ages exceptionally well. Vocals still rock into his 70’s.
Sammy is just an amazing singer....and look the way he plays guitar.... it's incredible
Tommy and basically all the Crue guys are so funny and charismatic. Sammy is such a great host for this show. This was great! So glad to see Michael Anthony here too!
Awesome, when Tommy said my dad looked around and said that’s my boy, gave me goosebumps
You’re cringe
I was not a massive fan of rock or metal growing up, but i always knew Tommy was one of the coolest guys ever. He transends all genres and has that priceless gift of people just naturally gravitating towards him. He's a cool dude for sure.
I can't see his face he's that age, great guitar player and absolutely beautiful voice!
I'm just trying to figure out how Sammy looks so good at 70 plus years old. He literally hasn't changed since Montrose in the early '70s.
Rock in Roll will never die!
I got my first guitar after seeing Sammy Hagar live in the early 80’s in Texas. He was so cool up there. And he remained cool throughout the years. He brought Van Halen a second life. Gave them a new lease on rock.
Love that they just go into it no rehearsal no practice and they absolutely killed it. It’s the energy they all had. All big smiles and just rocking. Maybe there was mistakes but you would never know or even care just cuz the vibe was so sick. Love it. 🤘🏻🤘🏻
OMG what a force to be reckoned with. Tommy you are insanely awesome and you jamming with Sammy....... that is absolutely off the hook! Makes me feel like it's okay to be 62! I adore you both!!!!
Tommyland is a criminally underrated album
These guys are awesome and timeless!!
Such personality & character on tommy.. completely forgot why I idolized this guy as a teen
Awesome seeing Mike, Tommy and Sammy doing Rock Candy. Powerful jam. This reinforces my belief that I never want to get punched by Tommy Lee. What a heavy hitter with authority on drums. BEAST
He hits HARD!!!
He couldn't punch KidRock very hard, hit him like a wee girl and that's what KidRock is, lol!!
Tommy beats those drums like they owe him money.
I love the community of old school, rock gods. It’s so cool.
Daughters account. I'm only 33 and these guy are one of my many favorites. It's so cool seeing 👀 people from different bands just shooting the shit and being Real the real version of themselves
Man, what a performance! firing on all cylinders! Tommy Always fun to watch kill those drums! I would LOVE to see yall play a few more!!
If this is your new band then Take My Money! That was F@ckin Epic!
Watched Sammy back in the early 80,s three lock box tour. And that fool still ROCKS it.
awesome, always love to see Tommy banging his drums and now with Sammy and Mike. Maybe one day I'll stop at the Cabo Wabo in San Lucas and meet Sammy. That would be a blast.
Even today nobody comes close to this level of musicianship! LOVE this show! ❤️❤️❤️
You must be crazy
@@uriahuriah3792 Yeah, he got himself a little too worked up lol.
@@johnandrews5414 I'm guessing that I replied to someone else. The comment was something negative about Tommy Lee's drumming.
You must not of herd much music then
You need to get out more, there are literally hundreds of amazing drummers on youtube 10x better than Tommy. Tommy is famous for things unrelated to actual drumming.
Tommy is one of my favorites. I’m proud that Tommy does Tommy - imagine going up in the Rock/Roll life beginning at 17/18. Shit, the things I would’ve done out of just being a kid with $1M.
On a side note, all the passageways in Tommy’s pad are tall. They look normal when he walks through them, but my short 5’6” ass would need a lug wrench to pry to doors open.
Thanks for the years of music Tommy 👍🏾🤘🏾🥁
I never realized Tommy was so tall..
"I felt like Page and Plant at the same time!" LOL
Sammy is awesome!!
Wow! what a legendary rock trio they could be...
Saw Sammy Hagar last night. What a professional and humble man. He posed for pictures with his fans, signed autographs & gave shots of his tequila to the fans in the front row. (Unlike Mike Reno from Loverboy who refused to sign my wife's size 3 red leather pants but signed the 2 other girls poster) Sammy is the only musician who we have ever seen DO THIS. Keep up the amazing work 👏
Michael Antony is an incredible bassist and singer. One of my favorites.
Really nice just seeing these two just relaxed and being themselves without a lot of pressure and having fun
My 2 favorite musicians together !!!!!! Doesn't get any better than that ❤
So awesome!!! Tommy seems like a cool guy to hang with...damn that dude can kill those drums!!! Showman! And the Red Rocker is always on point!
They all sound killer! Tommy is a kick ass drummer/musician
Sammy still sounds young…that voice….wow
The old rockers are great, these guys certainly have some stories!
I got goose bumps just watching these legends jam together
This video is years old! This was one of Sammy's first interviews. Way to repackage old video. LMAO.
Like ABC, NBC, CBS, and all of the rest of them say...
If you haven't seen it yet, its not old, right?🤦
Just jokin dude.
Yea as soon I saw Sammy’s thicker hair and goatee I was like……. 🤔
@@bigjohnboy5707 Tommy doesn't even live in that house anymore.
Right?!?….🤦
musicians are a creative breed. it's nice to hear conversation between these two and how they think instead of just watching them perform. they truly have touched many people's hearts with their music.
Y'all should keep this band together and tour! Enjoy seeing some of my favorite rockers get together. I'm going to go get my guitar and jam along ❤️🎸🎶
Say what you want, but I love when Tommy gets behind a kit. You can tell he loves it too. Also, not a lot of drummers hit as hard as he does. He is through and through a rock n roll drummer. An underrated drummer I might add.
He also exposes himself to kids like he did on Facebook and never apologized. Should be arrested
Too bad he's going to hell. Gain the world with non lifting music and making money off stupid fans and pathetic motley monkey crew. Drugs and rock with no prison time. Fucking joke. $$$ that's why.
Hitting the drums hard doesn't mean you are a great drummer..
I'd pay to see these guys play live in a heartbeat
Just love Tommy Lee ❤️ !
TOMMY LEE ONE OF MY TOP 10 FOR SURE !!!!!
Wow!! This one is one of my favorites!!
Don't be embarrassed by the Osmonds. Crazy Horses is a good rock album.
Dream band! they are awesome together.
I don’t care what anybody says these guys are gold, almost like family after 4 decades give or take, love em
Sammy has always been one of my favorite musicians. Killed Rock Candy!!
Geez, these older guys freakin’ rock!
Both of them lovely authentic guys
Rock Candy is such a bad ass tune….killer vibe with you 3 playing…tommy slayed it too🤘
Always loved Sammy Hagar voice -high energy rock n roll . Tommy on the drums -Wo !!- new band ? YES !
