These kids along with their parents are great thinkers! I only began seriously asking and reflecting on those questions when i was in my 30's. Love the way these parents are supporting the kids' spiritual and intellectual growth.

Hi Bishop Barron. I'm José Longuenda a Young Missionary Seminarian from Angola...
I really appreciate what you have been doing... you have no idea how much you have been helping me with this channel on UA-cam. Thank you!
I would be very much greatful if you talked a little bit about our Christian approach to "secularism " more specifically with regard to music... To be precise : Hip-Hop.
question : what do you think about Christians who are "Rapping " as a way to witness to their Faith? The so called "Gospel Rappers " ?? what of those who listen and support?
Please give us a word Your Excellence 😇

From the holy Gospel according to Mark 10, 13-16
At that time they presented Jesus with children to touch them; but the disciples rebuked them. But Jesus, seeing this, became angry and said: "Let the children come to me, do not stop them, because of those who are like these is the Kingdom of God. I assure you: whoever does not receive the Kingdom of God as a child will not enter it "And he embraced the children and blessed them by placing their hands on them.
    Blessings from Puerto Rico.

We are dysfunctional family !!! but dysfunction we refuse to see which is GREATER THAN SEXUAL SCANDAL IN CHURCH IS SCANDAL OF NEGLECT!!!! Our Churches hierarchy does not give a flying hoot about catehesis. Ask your average Bishop how many catehists he met in the last year and talked about catehesis for like 3 minutes or more? I have been cathehists for years 0 interest from any priest in my church how my kids are doing? At least 80% of my children will be NONES and not because of scandal but neglect of their parents and pastors . I talked several other cathesists same experience.

I doubt the effectiveness of this. As a theologian it’s hard to to talk to an alien like a 6 year old. It’s a language that needs to be learned by our kids.
As a kid I had priests who talked to me like this and it made little sense. Yes, faith is an adult job but prepare the kids properly.

    • @kerrieshin1062
      @kerrieshin1062 4 роки тому +1

The effectiveness of this, is measured, I think by it's affect on adults. Children ask questions that cut straight to the truth. So, though the children might not follow the answer, their questions bring clarity to adults.

  • @francist1344

Wow, that's a lot of air miles. Who paid for that?
A serious question though: where does hell fit into this? Does the infinitude of God permeate it? Because if God is 'infinite' (like you say), then surely this infinite nature must incorporate hell? Mind blowing, right? Because infinity does not exclude. It is boundless. Does that mean that hell is a creation of our Catholic God? And that our God is, in part, hell? Because that would be sad. But true... I guess?
Maybe if I stop believing in my Catholic God, I will stop believing in hell too - and get on with a happy, guilt free life. Sounds like a good idea, right? Because hell is a Christian concept. An evil concept. Without Christianity or Catholicism, there's no need to stress about horrible, evil ideas like hell. You could almost say: give up Catholicism, give up the threat of hell. Imagine living a life like that.
    Think about that.
But infinity can be a great idea too. A lovely idea. Like, for example, think of the infinite ways you could choose to live your life outside a faith that threatens you with hell.
    Praise God.

    • @jamessemling6869
      @jamessemling6869 5 років тому +2

      Hey Fran!
I don't know how to address your question as a whole, but guilt and threat of Hell as a focus, is not the direction our faith should be leading us.
Your question is posed so as to defeat itself. The proper Catholic understanding of Hell is that it does not “fit into this” therefore can’t ask how it fits into this.
If God, being fundamentally and perfectly free, creates us with the choice to deny His will, He can subsequently choose to allow consequence which places us outside of His infinitude. Outside of God’s infinitude? How? The answer is the existence of Hell. Being perfectly just, God allows the existence of a state of being which is, by definition, to reject God and therefore to reject life. Hell does not “fit in” because, by definition, Hell is to choose not to fit in.
Second question: God is infinitely good, as His Excellency says in the video. For Him to be, in part, hell, is a logical contradiction because by definition Hell is not good. God does not participate in logical contradiction. Revelation allows that He is supra-rational, not that He is irrational. God must be all good and no evil for Him to be God at all.
If we consider the two questions together…if God is God, then God must be all good. If God is all good, then cannot be, in part, hell. If God is not hell at all, then hell must not be God at all. It follows, then, that Hell exists as the choice to not participate in God at all, and thus to reject being at all. God, being infinitely good and free and just, allows this choice in giving us free will and therefore, so as not to be a logical contradiction, God allows the existence of hell.
And sure, you can reject that the Christian God is God. But in so doing, you choose to believe that whoever “God” is, He includes evil. Why would anyone want to believe in an evil God, much less follow one? It may sound great to reject Him and thus to live free of the consequence of Hell, but you are also living void of the glory of Heaven.
To get to the main point, God is your Father, and no father wants to see their child that they love go down a path to death. What would your imperfect father do for you so that you would be saved from this doom? May we have faith that our perfect Fathers love is here for us, just like the prodigal son in Luke 11:15-32, repent for the kingdom of God is at hand! Our Father is full of mercy.
Your brother in Jesus, Praise God!

Fran Cist, Hell is, I think, within the purview of infinity. However, as a place in time, it’s a choice allowed by God. Meaning that within infinity we choose Hell or Heaven. It is a place allowed by God.
Your question is not new. The bishop, in another blog film, described Origen’s (2nd century) concept that Hell is not a permanent place. Origen concludes that every one will end in God’s presence, because God is merciful-which is true.
I see Hell, as John Milton sees Satan, and his followers, in his epic poem, « Paradise Lost. » Book 1, lines 10 [Satan says, I shook His throne],
What though the field be lost?
All is not lost: the unconquerable will

And study of revenge, immortal hate,
and courage never to submit or yield:
And what is else not to be overcome?
      ....
...never shall His wrath or might
Extort from me. To bow and sue for grace
With suppliant knee, and deify His power...
[He] holds the tyranny of Heaven.
      ...but of this be sure,
To do aught good will never be our task,
But ever to do ill our sole delight,
As being the contrary to his high will
      Whom we resisted.
      Me talking, now:
All that sinners, in Hell, have to do, to regain Paradise, is to simply say, ‘I’m sorry, Please forgive me.’-and Hell no longer exists for them. But, that’s exactly what they won’t do. Therefore, because God is just, He allows them to choose Hell rather than serving Him and Heaven.
Hell is where evil chooses to be-they believe, away of the power of God. Of course, they’re wrong.
