Years ago I would take photos of abandoned homes and cars, I would write a story like the car or house was talking about its life from when it was brand new up until the time I found it abandoned, I actually did quite well selling them , when you mentioned about the boats being in a showroom at one time it brought those memories back and I wanted to share 🤗
Was in the Navy in 75. Years later I was taking a train to Mexico to try and get some PAIN meds. Got a kick in the gut when I saw a whale boat from the "USS Sacramento" in what looked like some scrap yard or something.
I was there 10 years ago when we were traveling through that area. WOW..things got really really bad since I was there. I expected it to get worse....but that looks like 30 yrs of decay not 10. Truly amazing.
When I was a kid I built the Barnegat from an Aurora model kit. I'm talking back in the 60's, ancient history to you youngsters. 😄Cool tour, thanks for sharing.
Thats so funny to see this pop up, I just made a video at the US Lightship Barnegat a month ago. I kayaked around the area and explored the entire ship / property. We even picked up the same exercise 8 track. Lol. 😊
To someone born and raised here on the west coast and now living in the SF bay area, it just boggles my mind to see so much decay. Everywhere here there is a premium paid for any kind of property -- especially on a waterfront. Of course, we have our bad areas too -- Oakland is our Camden or Detroit but even so, houses still average $500K+. So when I see videos like this with abandoned boats, buildings, docks, landscapes I have a hard time wrapping my head around the waste of it all. In a perverse sense, it almost feels like a kind of luxury that all of that can simply be abandoned for untold years at a stretch. As for the lightship, 75-80 years from now, assuming this video still survives (doubtful), people will look back and think, "Why couldn't they have saved that???" because by then that ship will be some 200 years old. Think on that for a moment. Americans. We don't value our history. Not really. We're too preoccupied with chasing whatever is the perpetual new thing -- even if it is now made in China.

I'm amazed at the amount of sunken boats there! Here in Washington's Puget Sound area if ONE boat sinks at it's mooring, it's a huge deal, and the Coast Guard response is immediate! Within days the vessel will be salvaged under the Derelict Vessel Program. I honestly like seeing sunken boats from time to time, but holy cow, that's alot there! I’m afraid that she’s too far gone to be saved. The hull is rusted through and water seems to be flowing through the lower decks. The USCG needs to repossess her and put her out of her misery.

I subscribed, hope that helps. My Dad was the honorary captain of the Moshulu, when it was directly on the Delaware nearer the Ben Franklin Bridge, and just south of it was the Barnegat. I remember that ship in much better condition. It was old then, of course, but the paint was maintained, and I think it even had tours. The Moshulu ex 'Kurt' is only 1 year older, built in 1903. It's sad to see such important history fading away. I think it's gotten harder to preserve ships like this unless they have an active income from tours. My family is still living on Chesapeake Bay and i vacationed up and down beach and marina's my father and uncles were all boat owners, they worked on old fishing boats that sold the catch right on the dock that they docked in Rock Hall Md. Long Beach Island was our Summer Beach location of family Reunion
I was in the Sea Cadets in Philadelphila back when i was like 16 (62 now). That ship was at Penn's Landing for a few. It was in great shape back then. Sad days ahead.
If I remember correctly the Light Ship BARNEGAT was at the Pier behind the Restaurant Capt. STARNS in ATLANTIS CITY and then moved to a Phila PIER ... But that was many Years ago...
I have a video showing the U.S. Bannegat on one of my hard drives. I was flying a drone up the Delaware river from Penn's Treaty Park in Philly when I saw the boat and yard, I decided it looked interesting so I filmed it.
It was the Pyne Poynt Marina owned by Rod Sadler. In 1994 he offered to give the Barnegat a berth and try to raise funds for its preservation when a Philly Waterfront Group disbanded and no other groups wanted it. He was an active citizen in Camden City planning and economic development and wanted to restore it for the City's waterfront. Flash forward 20+ yrs of no interests from any groups or funding, he passed away in 2019. The good news is Camden County has purchased the property from his wife in 2023 and is developing a park that includes plans to restore the ship.... fingers crossed they are successful in doing so!
Had me at Barneget.. spent my childhood summers on the Barneget bay.. back when Seaside heights was a different place.. I had the same feelings as a kid when I would see scuddled boats.. careful my brother drowned in the Toms River
Chris Thank-you for all the awesome videos you shared in 2024!! You're a amazing person ❤️ looking forward to follow you through 2025🎉🎉 Happy new year's to you!! And safe travels 😀😄
I wonder if that damage is from when Hurricane Sandy hit. Wind and flooding could have knocked those boats around like that. Easier for the owners to forget about them if they were dealing with the effects of the storm.
Wow, very cool, Chris! And you know what? I looked on Google Earth and those same boats by the dock @14:00 are somewhat above water level. Pretty wild yet sad with all the detritus just decaying there. And not just there, there are a lot of places like this where boats are just sitting, rotting for many years. Saw one such near NYC as well.
An uncle of mine was USCG stationed in NJ back when she was operable. Sad to see her so far gone. Where she's at is no secret, so: she shows on Google Earth: 39°57'26"N 75°06'44"W
Great vid , so much waste ! Someone could clean up and sell the scrap and cool stuff . And those old Gilligan island boats could be sold to someone with an old car or truck . Even the docks sold off but maybe no family left or property of the city now left to rot .
At 20:20 you show a light filled with water I found the same light unused at a garage sale never used & just recently wired it up. I never did know what type of fixture it was until your video As an retired electrician. I say thank you mate ⚡️⚡️⚡️
I would give that place a early 80s time frame, to stand still. I paid for machine sodas with 50 cents when I was a kid..The steel boats, they pain me.. I weld frames on 500 dollar vehicles for smiles. Taking on an old steel ship would be an amazing daydream. I saw the big boat not long ago on two feet outdoors you tube channel.
Wow, what an interesting ship! I'd be very interested in what dates were on some of the paperwork in the offices. And that radio amplifier I'd love to repurpose as a guitar amp. Really interesting history.
If this is indeed the one that was in St. Michaels,Md. ,i spent a week aboard her in the early 70s . Iwas in sea scouts for 2 years. Cooked on that stove which ran on diesel fuel. Sorry to see it let go.
Im surprised that the CBMM in St. Michael's didn't take more intetest in it. They tend to cater to the areas typical type boat like log canoes and crabbing skiffs
It’d be nice to fund raise and get her (The Barnegat Light ship) back up and floating. The John J. Harvey, a retired FDNY Hero Boat has been restored and functions now as a nonprofit that provides trips all around NYC and NJ Hudson River waterway. This could be a ship perhaps that is restored then docked for tours and events.
Wow!! how do you guys find this stuff!! It really is cool to see! The tide rushing in is wild! I love the ship exploration epic exploration had a video on the sunken point pleasant boat!! Looks the same absolutely amazing!!! I wouldn’t go in there my hats off to ya!!
The ship was at Penns Landing for a number of years until the owners disbanded, it was sold to the marina it currently sits at. The owner did intend to refurbish it, unfortunately he died before he realized that dream. The marina (and by extention the lightship) are now owned by the County. They plan to create a new park at the site but no word had been said about the Barnaget thst I have heard.
These boats are a perfect example of why you never waste money on a boat in the first place. Become close friends with someone who owns a boat, never own a boat yourself. Believe me, I have, three of them, and later in life I regret the money I spent on them because I would have instead $1 million earning 5% in annual dividends and I would be retired today had I not wasted money on boats.
Geez what happened to that place? I remember when I was a kid they put on nice fireworks shows in the mid 50s all the way to probably 60s there was a nice park there. It was nice and clean. People used to hang out there and gather together with her families. There were things to do. There are bands out there wow the corrosion of America I guess other cities I’ve seen America is just crumbling apart. Sad to see I don’t recall seeing that ship there not sure when they had that ship there
I can't believe, I'm reclining in my office chair at my desk watching this vid in the comfort of my home, and I'm still creeped out watching you walk thru these areas. Like EVERY turn seems like a place you could find a dead body. Yikes.
Did you mean sea-legs, Chris? I am a landlubber, too. Very cool exploration! Imagine what a majestic ship she once was. Camden has been a rough area for decades, so I'm rather surprised there's not a lot more vandalism and graffiti.
The way all the boats are scattered haphazard makes me think a big storm on the Jersey shore maybe fifteen or twenty years ago ? Very sad. Happy new Year and be safe out there. 🎉
My grandfather was the ship's Master in 1937-39, I have Christmas Photos taken during that time to share if anyone is interested, I tried to share a link but UA-cam is deleting that.

moved to a Phila PIER ... But that was many Years ago...
My parents live there haha- should check that out next time I’m down
Spooky and fascinating! I love these video's ❤
It just screams,, Lead Paint!!! 😮
I don't think any kids are going to chew on the paint there.
Try not to eat too much, then.
I grew up in Camden and Burlington counties and had no idea this was there. Played in pyne point park even until 1998 at least.
Wow, you can sure hear the water coming in!! 😮 Scary!
It's nice to see this second version of this location from Two Feet Outdoors view.
Had me at Barneget..
spent my childhood summers on the Barneget bay.. back when
Seaside heights was a different place.. I had the same feelings as a kid when I would see scuddled boats.. careful my brother drowned in the Toms River
Spent two summers at Barnegat light with my grandparents in the early 80’s , fun times
Yea , me too . I had a little row boat probably put a 110k miles on it fishing crabbing and exploring
@ good times..!!
@@mikekosar6135 yea it was. Now I got a big boat that draws too deep for most of the bay and miss my rowboat !
@ lol.. loved my flat bottom with the live well and 20hp
Merc..!! Many hours clamming crabbing
Chris Thank-you for all the awesome videos you shared in 2024!! You're a amazing person ❤️ looking forward to follow you through 2025🎉🎉 Happy new year's to you!! And safe travels 😀😄
Pine poynt. That place is wild. Was there like 10 years ago, it’s in way worse shape now. Used to be a guy working out of there.
I wonder if that damage is from when Hurricane Sandy hit. Wind and flooding could have knocked those boats around like that. Easier for the owners to forget about them if they were dealing with the effects of the storm.
if you want an idea what she looked like in her heyday you should check out USCG lightship Columbia tied up as a museum in Astoria Oregon.
The two happiest days in a man's life, the day he buys the boat and the day he sells it .
Journey with Jay not willing to journey onto the dodgey dock 😁
Hahaha I'm clumsy I saw myself falling in the water
An uncle of mine was USCG stationed in NJ back when she was operable. Sad to see her so far gone. Where she's at is no secret, so: she shows on Google Earth: 39°57'26"N 75°06'44"W
Great vid , so much waste ! Someone could clean up and sell the scrap and cool stuff . And those old Gilligan island boats could be sold to someone with an old car or truck . Even the docks sold off but maybe no family left or property of the city now left to rot .
I saw a 12 pack of Schafer Beer. That takes me back to early 90’s! I haven’t seen it in years!
At 20:20 you show a light filled with water I found the same light unused at a garage sale never used & just recently wired it up. I never did know what type of fixture it was until your video
As an retired electrician. I say thank you mate
⚡️⚡️⚡️
was just sitting here wishing chris would drop a video!
Haha good timing!
The east coast has a lot of cool abandoned but visitable boat and vessel relics to peek into compared to the west coast. Happy travels in 2025!
Happy New Year 🎉 may it be the best
I would give that place a early 80s time frame, to stand still. I paid for machine sodas with 50 cents when I was a kid..The steel boats, they pain me.. I weld frames on 500 dollar vehicles for smiles. Taking on an old steel ship would be an amazing daydream. I saw the big boat not long ago on two feet outdoors you tube channel.
Wow, what an interesting ship! I'd be very interested in what dates were on some of the paperwork in the offices. And that radio amplifier I'd love to repurpose as a guitar amp. Really interesting history.
Phillyjoe with the drumsticks got my attention.. looked up the name, and he was a popular musician .. Mush have belonged to him
If this is indeed the one that was in St.
That is a great museum hope to get back there some day
7:25 if a person puts some padding in there they could make a nice bed
all that metal should be cleaned up
0:28 looks like the Minnow! I expected the cast of Gilligan's Island to appear. 🙂
1:26 _There we go!_ 😂
Those are like 50$ Milwaukee cases. Crazy the amount of stuff that gets abandoned.
Looks like it was docked here sometime between April 1992 and March 1995.
Um, the Minnow was like 5 times the size of that pond paddler.
The minnow was a 58 wheeler 36 I believe
It’d be nice to fund raise and get her (The Barnegat Light ship) back up and floating. The John J. Harvey, a retired FDNY Hero Boat has been restored and functions now as a nonprofit that provides trips all around NYC and NJ Hudson River waterway. This could be a ship perhaps that is restored then docked for tours and events.
thank you for the video!
That's industrial pollution in my book. Shame on all those who dumped their boats and messed up the land and waterway. What a mess!
There is a Lightship sitting in middle of Lewes Delaware not far from the ferry
You did a great job of filming this
This is an awesome video! Very Cool!😎👍
Wow!! how do you guys find this stuff!! It really is cool to see! The tide rushing in is wild! I love the ship exploration epic exploration had a video on the sunken point pleasant boat!! Looks the same absolutely amazing!!! I wouldn’t go in there my hats off to ya!!
Go get lost on Google Maps Satellite view. You'll find all kinds of stuff.
Yes, each one of those derelict boats was once someone's dream. So sad to see them at the end.
I always enjoy your vids! 😊
Small White Corner Sink Sitting On The Floor There In The Barnacle Woulda Been A Nice Snag
The 2 best days in a boat owners life - the day you buy the boat, and the day you sell the boat!
Someone must've slammed the door on that old ice machine. Like....big time!!
I've always heard that the best kind of boat is your friends boat.
@ precisely!
💯
The 2 best days in a man's life: the day he gets his boat and the day he sells it.
If everybody follows that advice, nobody has a boat 😅
Too bad the seaport museum in philly couldnt find a home for it. I was on the light ship in baltimore years ago was a nice museum ship.
love your videos!
This was interesting stuff. I really appreciate this video. Thanks chris. Best wishes in 2025 to you and your loved ones
Very cool. Thanks
You should do a video with the Philly captain
Geez what happened to that place? I remember when I was a kid they put on nice fireworks shows in the mid 50s all the way to probably 60s there was a nice park there. It was nice and clean. People used to hang out there and gather together with her families. There were things to do. There are bands out there wow the corrosion of America I guess other cities I’ve seen America is just crumbling apart. Sad to see I don’t recall seeing that ship there not sure when they had that ship there
There are lots of boats for free here in San Diego , id love to salvage one but no room on both of my property's
I can't believe, I'm reclining in my office chair at my desk watching this vid in the comfort of my home, and I'm still creeped out watching you walk thru these areas. Like EVERY turn seems like a place you could find a dead body. Yikes.
Very cool video!
1904,crazy. If that boat could talk. Too bad that no one wanted to save it.
Did you mean sea-legs, Chris? I am a landlubber, too. Very cool exploration! Imagine what a majestic ship she once was. Camden has been a rough area for decades, so I'm rather surprised there's not a lot more vandalism and graffiti.
It's a shame what became of that lightship. Thanks for uploading this.
Very Cool! Wonder what is on the reals of tape...?
The way all the boats are scattered haphazard makes me think a big storm on the Jersey shore maybe fifteen or twenty years ago ? Very sad. Happy new Year and be safe out there. 🎉
My thoughts, too. The few buildings there were hurriedly abandoned , it seems. Like they were getting out before the storm destroyed everything!
The grass and weeds grew up around the parked boats. Jeez let your imagination go wild much 😆
U referring to Super storm Sandy. Ya probably had a hand in that messs
This isn’t the Jersey Shore. It’s directly across the Delaware River from Philadelphia. The Delaware River is tidal at Camden.
My grandfather was the ship's Master in 1937-39, I have Christmas Photos taken during that time to share if anyone is interested, I tried to share a link but UA-cam is deleting that.
