  • Sisal, a fiber crop grown in the tropics, flourishes in countries like Brazil, Kenya, and Tanzania. Hand-harvested when around 1 meter long, its leaves undergo decortication, shedding the green outer layer to reveal strong sisal fibers. These plants are organic, absorbing carbon dioxide year-round and requiring minimal water, making them resilient to droughts, which is why they're encouraged for climate change adaptation. Harvestable year-round, sisal offers farmers steady income.
