    Have you ever replaced the wheels, bearings, or belts on your board?
    I have a Boosted Board with almost 700 miles on it, just wondering if I should replace any parts anytime soon.

    • @JMontage
      @JMontage  7 років тому +3

      +Jewishlewish wheels and bearings, no. But I haven replaced the belts probably 3 times now

    • @JMontage
      @JMontage  7 років тому +2

      +Jewishlewish I only replaced the belts out of necessity though, they were ripping (caused by extreme breaking) which severely impacted the boards performance until I replaced them

    • @JewishLewish

      Dope. I think i'm going to replace the wheels soon just because I want that shiny orange color again, but I don't think my belts need replaced. Thanks for the reply.

    I have 500 miles on mine and I've fallen SOOOOO many times. But it's fun, so I deal with it. I totally agree that the two use cases are on a college campus or in a city. I moved to San Jose (from Chicago), and I never get to use it for practical reasons, just for leisure. Silicon Valley (ironically where Boosted was originally from), is NOT a place for a Boosted Board.

    I'm on the fence. I'm going off to college soon but I still dont have a car, so I'm a little hesitant to buy a boosted board.
    - On one hand it's more affordable than any vehicle, new or used.
    - Its durable by the looks of it, as people have been using the same boards for years so it's not like it's unreliable.
    - The amount of money saved long term (gas, insurance, repair costs, monthly payments).
    But on the other hand:
    I cant travel long distances with it, its limited in where it can drive (cracks, pot holes, etc), and It just doesnt have any of the practicality of an actual vehicle.
    What are your thoughts?

    • @JMontage
      @JMontage  5 років тому

      I think it could be a good investment for you depending on how much you think you’ll be traveling long distance. Look into public transportation in your area that you could use in conjunction with the Boosted.

  • @sammarshall7055

    I agree with using at as a form of commuting. What I don’t agree with is that it doesn’t make sense elsewhere. Yes, one of the boosted boards purposes is to get places faster and easier, but they also designed the board to rip around and have fun on! I live in a rather open place, and haven’t used my board as a means of transportation once, but I ride on bike paths and everywhere else I can just because it’s so fun! I bought my board(s) solely to enjoy, and it actually acts as a stress reliever after my day of working and commuting.

    • @JMontage
      @JMontage  4 роки тому

      I think my statements were probably too broad, I also agree with you on that! However I think it’s hard for most people to justify the price point for solely enjoyment. You can rip around on nice bike trails with other boards half the price. Will it be as fun as a boosted? Idk probably not. But people thoroughly enjoy rides in their normal cars with the windows down on a nice day, you don’t necessarily need the nicest or fastest or most expensive car, right? Anyways, thanks for your comment and perspective! Happy riding :)

  • @karenzhang1020
    @karenzhang1020 6 років тому

    I thought having it in small town makes more sense because there is less cars and traffic. In big cities there are already public transportations and the electric board can only go short distance, it cannot replace the public transportation anyway. ( Unless your daily commute is usually short).

    • @JMontage
      @JMontage  6 років тому

      Just from my experience and people I’ve talked to it’s directly the opposite. If it works for you in a small town though, great! Using the board in tandem with public transportation isn’t unusual at all.

    • @karenzhang1020
      @karenzhang1020 6 років тому

      @@JMontage haha, it was just my assumption. I live in NYC and my commute is very long each day ( 1 hour subway ride) so I have been trying to give myself excuses getting an electric board my very long time. Maybe you are right, I can use the board with the public transportation together, especially when we stuck on the train. lol

  • @Donclion911
    @Donclion911 6 років тому +1

    Can we ride this board on the soil-ground? I mean if it just available on the driving road. That will be really dangerous and inconvenience....

  • @1ring2rule3pigs
    @1ring2rule3pigs 6 років тому +4

    "Meant to be a viable means of transportation". No, it is not.
    Fun? Yes.
    Good for commuting? No effing way. I have a Dual and a Yuneec Ego. I use the Ego for going to and from school, riding while friends walk(because the ego CAN)and gets me where I need to go WITHOUT the stress of worrying if I'm gonna run out of juice, which the Boosted had done to me on several occasions. Totally left me stranded. The Boosted is like a LaFerrari: Expensive, looks good, gives bragging rights, but good only for the track on weekends. The Ego is a Prius: Reliable, cost effective, crazy range at an acceptable speed. BTW, like the guy in the video, you WILL fall on a BOOSTED. Guaranteed.

    • @JMontage
      @JMontage  6 років тому +2

      Boosted definitely falls short in range, but for me has made up for that in other categories. I’m lucky that the range hasn’t left me stranded too badly ever cus usually I have my backpack and just have my charger in there anyways

    • @1ring2rule3pigs
      @1ring2rule3pigs 6 років тому +2

      JMontage I raced an Evolve GT. I smoked his ass. The price of the Boosted was worth it...for those 10 heart-pounding seconds and every time single time I remember the look on that guy's face. But I don't come across people like that often. And if I did, I could only do it a couple times before having to recharge. So yes, it has the ability, but not the practicality that the Yuneec has. I, too, tote a backpack, but a charger is extra weight I don't need/want to carry.

    • @1ring2rule3pigs
      @1ring2rule3pigs 6 років тому +1

      Jacob Votava I, too, am in college. In Los Angeles. So no, 6 measly miles are not even close to enough and I sure as hell wasn't going to carry a frigging charger around. I paid $1600 to basically beta-test their overpriced product. Remember, this was a go-fund-me start-up. Not an renowned and experienced aviation company at the top of their bluetooth and rechargeable battery game like Yuneec. They were first to market for a reason. And their in-ride programming? That's where the E-go really shines like no other. NO OTHER! But you wouldn't understand unless you rode one. By the way, I see Boosted just "boosted" Yuneec's deck design for their mini. They don't know what the hell they're doing and people shouldn't be paying them to learn. Oh, and my E-go cruiser has over 3000 miles. Over. 3,000. Miles. Not even a belt replacement! But hey, there's a sucker born every minute. Peace out!

    You live in Ohio, so what about snow or rain? Do you just not ride it during the winter? I live in Indiana and want some type of electric transportation for fun and commuting. OneWheel is just way too expensive and Boosted is 25% off rn. Also the Boosted 105s are out which help with cracks and such. But I need to be able to ride on wet ground.

    First off, great edit my man. Intro was dope. I've never ridden a longboard/skateboard before either. I live in downtown Chicago and I walk to work in the loop about 1.2 miles. I really want to get a boosted board to cut down commute and enjoy the city. How long did it take you to feel comfortable to ride it in an urban area?

    • @JMontage
      @JMontage  6 років тому +1

      About a month I’d say! It can be intimidating but it always makes me feel better to think of myself as a biker because that’s basically how cars treat me on the streets. It definitely helps that the boosted breaks so quickly. And thanks man! Glad you liked it :)

      I just need to find the best route to my office. I think i have a few options of having a fully segregated path from cars. So hopefully that may ease me into doing it. • @JMontage
      @JMontage  7 років тому +1

      +Mark Martinez yo! Yeah we have the same model. Every ~400 miles you will need to replace your belts. Boosted has tutorials on how to do it on their website. Sometimes if you ride on really bumpy roads for a while you could find some of your screws to come loose. You can ask Boosted for new ones and they'll send them. Other than that there's nothing unless something weird happens to your board like what happened once to mine with the battery.

    I sold my Boosted Board 2 because of battery range ( 7 miles is useless) and I was sick of replacing rubber belts. They break all the time. I bought Acton Blink S2. It's way more useful board. The range is 14 miles (My record is actually 15 miles on one charge) You don't have to replace anything because it has 2 hub motors inside the wheels. It's fast (Around 20 miles).

    • @JMontage

    You forgot to mention you need insurance to use this on the street since it's mechanically propelled. It's at the cops discretion to take it off you or not if your caught. This is stopping me from buying one right now since who insures skateboards?

    • @JMontage
      @JMontage  7 років тому

      +Strange & Beautiful from all my experience I highly doubt that you will ever happen. Unless you put people in danger by riding stupidly, why would a cop take your board? Sure, they technically could, but would they?

      Of course it does, depends on the battery. Manufacturers guarantee 70-80 percent max charge after 500-1000 recharge cycles. In other words after 500-1000 recharge cycles your battery should still be able to hold 80 percent of the charge it used to have when charged to 100%

      +Ryan Nelson I think you missed my point. It’s fun anywhere, even a small town, but not practical. I live in a small town and have been riding it the past two summers while I’m there. Title suggests that there are reasons not to buy a Boosted Board. Video contains mostly positive comments and concludes with a suggestion that you should buy one.

    • @JMontage
      @JMontage  6 років тому

      I assume you’re being critical of the video and title combination. I think it is very reasonable for a product is well made, out performs most every competitor, and the company has good customer service yet it still doesn’t fulfill its purpose for the average consumer. Hence, you probably shouldn’t buy a Boosted board. I also say “maybe” in the conclusion which is the entire theme of the video. Thanks for watching!

      Josh Bauer I've had a duel plus boosted, and a meepo. By far, the meepo is way better, and especially for the price. Over twice the range if a boosted, same speed, and handmade.
