I wanted to mix up my content a little bit and I figured, what better way to use my unique brand of judgemental gaze than to read the top posts on one of the most entertaining subreddits out there: r/AmITheAsshole? Check it out!
Nothing feels quite the same as NL doing a pause, then a slow exhale and finally a "Look..." in reaction to AITA.
It tells me 50% of the next 10 minutes will be a painfully frank exploration of a thorny social topic, and the other 50% a deep dive down an anecdotally-related rabbithole that is otherwise completely irrelevant.

Maybe it's a cultural thing, but I don't understand why people are so territorial about their trash bins. It's a trash bin, they are going to smell whether you throw dog poop in it or not. I'd rather give someone the convenience of a place to throw their own trash into, rather than having them litter around the neighborhood.
I would get it if you live in the somewhat rare place with a private garbage service (not provided by the city) and they charged you by weight or something. They do have a lot of those in Florida, so maybe this was that? Thats why they get mad at you for putting stuff in dumpsters at like businesses and construction sites. They pay by weight.
Some people have more garbage usage than others. Sometimes, you have to push down the garbage deeper. No problem, because responsible people can handle their garbage. But if ppl are putting stuff in your garbage, you are now managing space you had nothing to do with, you don’t own dogs, and you properly tie your bags, but now there is dog shit on your arms when you push down your trash? Idk, seems rude to me. They throw loose trash and now it’s in your yard? It’s just the difference between considerate people, and degenerates

it depends on the nature of someone throwing their stuff away. Throwing one thing away in a trashbin that's going to be emptied in probably like 3 hours? Just fine, who cares. Throwing away purposefully rotten food in an empty trashcan after it's been emptied? That's kind of an asshole move. Some people keep their trashcans inside their garages depending on where they live, so having someone throw away something that's gonna smell up the garage for the week is extremely annoying. There's a reason why you do stuff like rinse milk bottles out before you put them in the recycling. And then there's the third type of person who uses your trashcan because they're too cheap to buy their own trashcan. My neighbors in our townhouse did this for nearly a month, used other people's trashcans to throw their stuff away without permission to avoid having to pay for disposal. It's just me and my mom and we fill up our trashcan full nearly every week, I can't imagine what it's like with a family of 4 having to deal with another family of 4 mooching off of them.
@@shadovars9477 you don't rinse out milk jugs because they might make your recycling smelly you rinse them out to avoid contaminating other recyclable products at the recycling facility such as paper and cardboard now that most facilities handle the sorting at their end. Tho given your prior comment I understand why you need a "me me me " attitude to feel the need to do a bit more extra work

They get a YTA from me. If you put something benign in my bin that's no problem but dog shit is unacceptable. The smell of it lingers after the bin is emptied, especially in summer. Making her pull it out of the bin is a little psychotic but I respect his commitment to maintain societal standards in his neighborhood
At the risk of sounding insane because I'm making up my own headcanon of the person... dude sounds like he has literally nothing going on in his life and his only hobby is peaking out of the blinds waiting for an chance to pull shit like this. It's a full garbage can about to picked up and emptied. It's a non-problem that will be fixed in like 10 minutes to a couple of hours.

One thing I haven't seen people mention about the travel one is that *it's not a vacation.* I'm not saying it won't *be* a vacation for him, I'm sure it will be a fun trip. But it's not like he just said "hey, I'm going to go party in another country for a few days and leave the baby with you and your parents", it's his friend's wedding. Moreover, a friend that helped him through shit in college. I know I have friends who helped me out like that and it can form a deep connection.
I think destination weddings are dumb. That's what your honeymoon is for, don't put out all of your friends and family because you want to be extravagant. That being said, that's not OP's fault, and it's completely understandable that he'd want to go to his friend's wedding.

Im a hopper for a locally owned garbage company. We hand unload the trash and we are charged by weight, so throwing dog shit into some else's can the the potential to make our days much worse. One of those things that if everyone did we'd be fucked so its best if no one does it. There are people sharing trash all over the place and they dont realise thay its literally stealing because we are charged by weight.

Yes you can own trash cans. They are not communal, private trash companies have to pay to remove the trash. We have people lie to us all the time about sharing trash. It is literally stealing as we are charged by weight. Not to mention that we hand unload so adding dogshit to a can, especially if unbagged, is not fun. If you have city trash where a big arm unloads the can then do what you like I guess.

I live in a house with a garage that backs onto the alley, I leave the garbage behind the garage, people can throw shit in my garbage can or any of my dozen neighbour's who do the same. It means no trash left in the alley and I can smell that doodoo. It's 50 feet away
This poop can story literally happened to me. The issue I've heard is that trash people sometimes take only the large bags out and the poop gets left in if there are only one or two bags. But you're not supposed to take the can to the street until it's full anyway, to save the trash people time. So if everybody "followed the rules", it would be a non-issue. Not to mention, I'd much rather it get put in a can than left on the street.

Edit: Where im from the cans are far enough from where anyone lives so its not obtrusive, and the trash gets taken out every day so it doesnt overfill and the smell doesnt reach the flats. Also, all the neighbours agreed to buy big ass bags on bulk to put on the cans so none of the trash actually spills out.
