I'm saying it......I LOVE BLACKPOOL! Yea it has massive social problems and most of it has seen better days but, like my hometown (Liverpool) the people are the place. The good, the bad and the ugly. Resilient, tough but genuine people that this country was built on. I hope it gets the investment it deserves. You and channell are ace! I love your realness, it shines through.
Interesting video Steve, we went all around the back streets in August also done the gay village and the other part you mentioned central way, very good around 2.00 am rather a lot of lad's get around their, anyway Steve all the best Dave
I remember going swimming at Cocker Street baths with school and the changing rooms usually had a cockroach or two lurking in the shadows. Also some of the tile edges at the bottom of the pool were sharp enough to slice your feet. Another memory was watching a film in the Princess cinema and there were three mice sat in the front row also watching! That is a true story as well 🙂
Many great days out and holidays there ,used to love Blackpool when I was younger 72 now ,and nothing seems to please me these days ,thanks for another great video ,bringing back loads of great memories
Hi market man , I’m 77 granny and feel the same , we look at things as they are now and realise the promise of our youth for a modern moral caring society has not happened , The obsession with phones has ruined generations , stopped them from critical thinking and they feel entitled ,
I have to concur with you the back streets of Blackpool are rather bleak, gloomy and rundown but no more than you will find anywhere else in the country.
I personally have fond memories of blackpool etc. I was very mentally ill roughly 15 year's ago and i started my healing process of visiting blackpool for a weekend away every summer in July month. The bars and clubs we're good and the fair and promenade i enjoyed. It is sad that this place has gone downhill but it remains fondly in my memories. ;)
An honest view of Blackpool. I visited Blackpool ever 2 weeks for years to see my parents who retired there. I stopped coming 8 years ago and nothing has changed.
I think its either the imperial or grand hotel has been filled with immigrants from somalia.A friend of mine and his partner and everyone were asked to leave on the same day and put up somewhere else .Nobody would tell him why everyone was being made to leave but a member told him on the quiet why. This was recently.Could have been the metropol but it was one of those hotels ive mentioned .
Thanks Steve for video. Many happy childhood memories. We used to stay in Gyn square with parents.Enjoyed the memory trip up Dixon Road.Remember a picture place facing the back of the Hotel Metropole. Can still remember it now.Paint your Wagon with Lee Marvin was showing(1971) Not been to Blackpool for at least 20 years....keep up the good work pal
Thanks for the update, New video, gloomy or not, merry Christmas to you, and all your viewers. Thanks again Mr walk on the wild side, look forward for the next one, bit of luck in the new year ♥️👍.
That was fantastic Stephen. Some of the places you passed made me think about Rigsby from Rising Damp 😂 I love how you show the more gritty side to Blackpool, every town or city has a darker side, but they are not always shown. Looking forward to watching the murder video again, once you are ready to release it xxx
I had happy memories of Blackpool as a child many years ago. It's so sad to see how the town has really gone down hill. I live in Australia now and took the kids for a visit on tbe trip to the UK a few years ago and they asked me if the war there had ended. To be fair it looked like a war torn city. It's so dirty and run down now, such a shame. At least I have my memories.
I still find Blackpool very magical as I still get excited (backside twitch) just like a young boy as I love the trams,Blackpool Tower, The Fairground despite the 60's rundown buildings. I am 60 now and it's like being on a cheap Holiday all the time when in the Town Centre ! I live in the countryside but the Stagecoach Bus 42 regular as clockwork gets me there leaving the car behind to save money. Your videos are addictive Stephen and very interesting !
We got ourselves a lovely apartment in hornby Road this weekend absolutely brilliant one final stroll around today and then back down south kid's have loved making memories
Remember staying at the Derby Hotel and the Bracondale Hotel, back in the seventies. Used to stay at the now Grand when it was owned by Hilton. Bad memories when staying at the Imperial back in the nineties, when the fire alarm went off, twice during the night, on a three night stay.
And think 50 year ago all those back street b&bs were full of nice holiday makers run by very prim n proper landlady's etc with no trouble no litter and everyone having a great time when England was a lovely lovely place to live
Eee was in Blackpool last week n walked past Metropol hotel and thinking exactly how I used to nearly drive on the tram track. (Lol) Lovely to watch these vids.
Was there yesterday Stephen, walked from Blackpool north to st Anne's pier and back. Walked back via Bond street and Foxhall and the atmosphere was incredibly sad, hardly anyone about. And that star flyer was massive, you're a brave man going on that
I actually brew up in that very area, on Carshalton Road (you just missed it at the top of Derby Road). My Mum and Dad had a B&B and the road was really vibrant and alive with similar businesses - everybody knew each other and all the kids played together. Went down there a few years back and it'd become very run-down, smack-city/bedsit-land. It's sad the way Blackpool's been allowed to go downhill so badly.
Hi Stephen thank you for another great video as such a shame the run down buildings they could be nice again hopefully one day they will be restored the huts are really nice looking overcast but still lovely take care xx
Another great video Stephen thankyou .I can't believe we're living in the same world when I watch your videos and then some more cheerful news seeps through on the news.Thankuou for giving us some pleasure in this crazy world 😁😁😘😘
Stayed in a b&b a few years ago, had to sleep on floor as mattress like concrete, drove through some back streets to get to prom , absolutely disgusting with litter everywhere, will never go back, best thing was the road heading south for home.
Used to work at The Park house hotel, lived in South shore, so got the bus to the bus station , then had to walk up dickson road to the Parkhouse hotel , I worked there for 7 years......x x x
Great video mate. I'm from Scotland and I consider Blackpool a second home. Spent a holiday in the hotel at the start 'The Grand' when it was The Hilton. The Airshow is back this year so we'll be down in August. All the best
New to your channel so watching a lot of videos before I go sleep for work, would love to hear some story’s of blackpools history murders etc haunted locations would be cool
I remember Feldman's. Spent years on holiday with parents in Blackpool up to mid fifties then as teens went by ourselves in later years. Sat nights in summer used to go by train from Stockport to go dancing in the Winter Gardens. Cost was 4 shillings return ( 20 p to you newbies ). Later in sixties and seventies regularly visited customers in the area and it was still a nice place. Sad to see it's decline.
I was in Blackpool on the 18th December.Hubby parked the car top of Lytham Road the Airport end.Walked into the Centre then back up on the Prom! Great Power Walk it was.
Nowhere looks good on a dull December day. The building above Woody's needs a thorough renovation it is very attractive. Middle walk looks really in need of some fresh paint.
Fabulous video Stephen loved the walk on Dickson Rd. I use to live in one of the B&B hotels on the prom and our back door was on Dickson rd so sad to see some of those buildings just deteriorating though, but those sea 🌊 views you showed us were Fabulous 😁 Thanks again & take care, Pauline from Blackpool living in Canada 🍁
Seeing the white high rise block of flats on the north shore bought back memories from years ago, I went to view one thinking I might buy it as a holiday home, superb views overlooking the sea, changed my mind as it was cash buy only. I was told the flats were used at one time to house the seasonal entertainers, don't know if that was true. Lovely flats mind you.
Very enjoyable little tour round the backstreets Stephen. I was intrigued to hear about the unreleased video of the murder you mentioned. I think it would be quite a popular watch if you decide to release it. All the best Stephen.
Thanks Padraic. I think I need to edit the video a little after hearing some more details, but you can watch it here ua-cam.com/video/yqQeHdrj1Ng/v-deo.html
Hi there Stephen, perhaps I can enlighten you as to the reason Derby Road seems a bit strangely positioned. Long before the Grand hotel was originally built and the Derby baths were still standing, that whole area was grassed. On the sea front side of this grassed area opp Derby Road was a sunken crazy golf and to the rear of that was ‘The Gardens of the World’ which were on Dickson road side. So that whole area was I imagine was land belonging to Derby baths, therefore Derby Road would have overlooked the Derby baths as there was no Hotel to break the land up .
