I've been following the development of this game for about two years now, and I bought it minutes after it came out. One of the first thoughts I had was "Tyler's gonna play this, for sure" and man, you didn't disappoint!
A few things about Squid :
Yes, the traps are places depending on where you are going
Squid has about 1000 voice lines I think?
I won't repeat the same voice line twice, so he can genuinely run out of things to say.
Sasly no, Squid doesn't learn from you, it's AI it's personalized (unlike mario 64)
Anyways, great vid as always! I hope you play a bit more of the game on UA-cam.
I'd suggest you watch some of the dev's videos on the game, at least the "X number of things you should know before playing Will You Snail" one

Squid does repeat voice lines, but it’s so rare that you probably won’t ever encounter unless you try and go back to previous levels to beat it on easy
@@Firefly256 well from what Jonas said he doesn't, but maybe he does repeat some simple lines like "ehe" or "gotcha". Tho there is a way for him to repeat stuff, but I'm not gonna spoil that just in case
@@noahabry619 maybe. In the 5th episode I heard squid saying “haha” twice, and in the 6th episode he repeated “hehe” which was said in 5th episode
I’m not 100% sure but I think he does repeat some long ones like the satisfaction he gets when he lands a perfect spike kill
Yes. It is actually predicting you and isn't random. The dev has explained it on his UA-cam Channel and what happens is something like this.
It takes your input and runs a simulation that asks "Assuming the input doesn't change, where will he be in X seconds? (I think it's one second)" After that it gets the simulated player's location and spawns a spike there.
so, in a way, it does actually know where you'll end up in one second if you don't change.
15:53 The game is programmed where squid won't say the same line more than once, so squid will just shut up once you've gone through them all

I physically couldnt beat any levels on easy unless they had insanely obvious solutions i could speedrun, 3 hours of my life well spent
You beat the first boss with less than half of my total deaths and my gaming confidence has plummeted
Ive watched like 6 youtubers playthrough this game, and so far I love watching your playthrough the most. :D finally someone who enjoys a high difficulty

This game is actually so funny to watch you play, mostly because instead of raging you just argue with the computer

Surprisingly fun, I got about 27 minutes on my best run.

Wow you actually are a platformer god. beating A14 on easy almost first try is insane. I had at least 900 deaths before I got through
if i remember correctly, 1347 voicelines, and special code to make sure he doesnt repeat a single one
This seems like it will be a great stream game when you get into the stupid hard levels

The bosses are really creative overall. ...and super hard of course. My favorite may be the third one.

Been following development blog for a while, I do be happy for this being a series
There should be a voiceline where if you die a lot in the same level (With speedrun timer off) squid says
"Come on, Just change the stupid difficulty already!"
And if you don't and you die again
"How much times do you have to die before you change the difficulty?"
And you die again...
"Screw it. I'm changing the difficulty."
(The difficulty is locked to a lowered one and you can't change it until you beat the level)
Then if you try to leave the level and go back in it
"You have too much confidence. Do you really think you can cheese the system like this?"
woah, you beat that on the hardest mode of the game. And while not sounding so mad and without rage quitting. wow.
tip: you can mute squid in your settings
tip 2: you can also skip the voice lines with a certain button
Some IWBTG fangames are also pretty good and hard.

I think a snail was chosen for this game because it is literally the opposite of fast and agile, something that a person needs to be in order to beat this game.
