    ATTENTION: The electrical problems seen in this video were resolved about a week after filming. To find out what was going on and how it was fixed, watch this video: ua-cam.com/video/CKgj6boQGQQ/v-deo.html

    Being out on the road and then having the bike not start is a sinking feeling I've experienced before, and in my case the battery was also the culprit. My Triumph is a 2005 model, so it has a carburetor and doesn't have all the electronics your bike has, but the battery got me all the same. I enjoyed watching the No GPS series and look forward to seeing more.

    Just found your channel today and watched all of your “no gps” adventure…thank you very much for making this available. I really enjoyed it. Video footage / commentary are excellent and the speed twin is beautiful. Getting ready to consume more of your content. Thanks.

    Simply amazing! This is the second time I watch the No GPS series. I have a Speed Twin and recently replaced the battery.

      Thank you! I'll be replacing this new one precisely at the two-year mark (July 2023). Not taking a chance on repeating this experience.

      @@VanBlamm I bought a multimeter and a charger. My intention is to verify the battery voltage frequently and keep it charged. Maybe this new battery will last more than 2 years...🙏

    That melted battery boot means a poor (and hence hot) connection somewhere, either loose battery lug, or bad crimp, corrosion, etc.

    • @VanBlamm
      @VanBlamm  2 роки тому +1

      It turned out to be the wire for my heated grips fraying where it meets the battery terminal. Same current through less copper meant more heat. I don't think it was ultimately the cause of my battery crapping out (that was probably old age), but it did confuse the hell out of me until I could properly figure out what had happened. I have since re-wired the grips with a relay, like I should have in the first place.

    Just finished the whole series (I'm a bit late) and subscribed. Your videos are up there with the absolute best on UA-cam, can't wait to see what you have in store in 2022. :)

    Great video thanks. I can relate to the frustration of having a weak battery on the ST and worrying if it will start everytime instead of simply enjoying the ride.
    I resolved this by starting the bike while the fuel pump is still priming and it starts everytime until I get a new battery.

    Great series! thanks for documenting! I agree with your conclusion on tech. I use google maps to plan routes, I have my service manual on my phone and I have Bluetooth communicator. Its all very handy but I don't need or rely on any of it to have a fantastic trip.

      Thanks! It's just a generic lapel mic crammed into the cheek pad of my helmet, but I was careful not to expose it to any airflow. I also run a "vocal presence" filter on it in Premiere Pro for the parts that are at freeway speed.

      @@VanBlamm Awesome! I will give it another try soon. I Tried it previously with my Tascam dr-05x and a lapel mic with a deadcat but must've had my gain way too high or something and it was pretty unusable lol. Gotta love learning new talents for our UA-cam adventures. Love your content by the way. Been binging on it here at work and already want to go over Beartooth Pass so what you're doing is working friend!

    At about the 4-minute point I hear a familiar theme song . . . "The perils of having dealt with M of D" yes; the trouble began at Northern Virginia's Worst BMW/Royal Enfield/Triumph dealer, bar none. Buyer beware!

    • @VanBlamm
      @VanBlamm  2 роки тому +2

      Pretty sure they're Northern VA's only BMW/Royal Enfield/Triumph dealer, which when you think about it technically makes them the best one too.

      @@VanBlamm my location in Virginia puts me equidistant between M of Dulles, VA and Select Cycle in Greensboro, N.C. These are the worst 2 dealers in this area without a doubt; I have bought a bunch of different bikes since 2013 (2 ninjas, 3 Triumphs and getting ready to buy another Enfield 650) and have extensive experience with dealers in VA, PA, Ohio...just saying

    How did the TEC suspension hold up on your touring?

    • @VanBlamm
      @VanBlamm  2 роки тому

      Pretty good! I confess I have never properly dialed it in, and I don't adjust anything when adding luggage. I definitely know when I hit bumps, but it's not any less comfortable than stock, and it's competent enough for the kind of riding I consider to be sporty.
