- When Paul Porter takes the mic, no one forgets.
"Someone once told me, and I will never forget it: You are the voice of excitement," he explained.
He's been that voice for 27 years with the Tampa Bay Lightning, and 31 years with the Orlando Magic.

25 years ago when I started following the NBA as a kid, I thought this guy's voice was so cool. Made the biggest impression of all PA announcers in the league.
He's such an awesome guy.. I saw him while on vacation in the off-season and I called out loud while walking behind him

I dont think he's ever gonna willingly retire but instead work up until he can no longer do the job or he passes away, either way it's really gonna suck for you Lightning fans since he's the only PA guy you've ever had

What does he do when the magic and lightning are playing on the same day at the same time
He does one team and the other has a back up for the night.
He's done both games in one day... But I know the Lightning come first. Both teams have a backup announcer.
And one season doing Toronto Raptors games, if I'm not mistaken.
