I had the 1994 93 xcr special racer that did like 110.. fast little shit! And I have a 1997 xc 700 with 220 jugs that get like 115, 120 all the time. Beast! The kids these days die when I come up behind them, or just hear that 700 sound. Love seeing the people turning around wondering what's coming behind them. Lol

I can relate. Sometimes it feels like you’re taking one step forward only to take 3 steps back. What’s even worse is that the part you need is holding up everything else and progress grinds to a halt.

    Thinking about getting a 650 1958

I got a 2003 Yamaha RX1 that goes maybe 25% of what it can do. Only runs if choke is on. It seems to flood out or bog out as some would say. Cleaned the carbs out and messed with the idle a little bit and ran a bit better. I think it’s the TORS system. Anyone got any ideas?

Mag side requires a book as I'm not familiar with yamahas clutch side is as simple as pulling the clutch. Also check your carb boots. They can crack and suck air. Spray starting fluid around the areas and if it revs up that is your issue. Or for 2003 yamaha rx1 you have a 4 stroke. I would check your valve tappet clearance and set them to spec. Followed by having the injectors cleaned.

She's a beauty Todd! I know the problem with tracking down vintage parts, can be a pain. Vintage Sleds, and Ebay are good sources, and of course a good snowmobile junk yard is good to have too.

Why'd the chaincase have to come out? I've never had to remove one to change a track.

    • @toddclyne3493

When there is 4 drivers like on a storm you need to remove the chain case to get the drivers out.

Todd, Nice job. I had a 1990 indy 650 back in the early 90's and loved the sound of that motor. I just spent over 200 hours restoring the 2004 Redline Revolt 800 Black Max that was featured in the Maximum sled article, march 2004. I feal your pain on running for bolts and things to do the job.

Seen 119 mph on an old 95 stone on radar jetting and clutching ... they worked good when they weren't eating pistons. Fun sleds

What we have figured out with our 94 and 95 with the use of a egt . They are jetted way to lean from the factory. Jet them to the 96 specs and your golden.

I feel your pain bro! I restore old cars/ trucks also! If it was easy everyone would do it. In the end, it will be so worth it. There is a reason the factory snow covers for those sleds said "worlds greatest snowmobile" on them! I was there when the indy chassis took over. So were you. I know you remember when the indy XLT came onto the scene...... Those sleds were so hot that polaris invented the sno check program back in '92-'93 you had to buy the sled. / finance it based on pics or a high end dealer who had one to guarantee you were gonna get one. Even year old sleds were being sold for more money than they were purchased new. Supply and demand. My point? I had a guy bring me a 1990 ski-doo formula plus 583 to restore recently, then he saw my 1986 indy 600 turned 650 .... The ski-doo went bye bye and he bought his own 1996 indy XCR. Once these sleds get in your blood, it never leaves👍👍

I bought a 92 xlt off the show room floor. Loved that sled so much I then snow checked a 93 xlt sks. They where an incredible sled in the 90s. Thanks for your awesome comment. Many can relate with you I'm sure.

Wow i was gonna say composite skis but I think they weigh more than 3-1/2 pounds. Way to score those skis. Would not want to risk bending them cause they are so rare.
