And this, I say, is the true heart, beauty and strength of India. Two Muslim musicians singing a Bhajan with such devotion that it brings tears to one's eyes. One feels a little closer to God on hearing this jugalbandhi. Where is Hinduism and where, Islam? All mingled into one love for the Divine.
@@anjan1970 Yes but that’s doesn’t mean there’s any element of Islam in this. Hindustani Classical is Hindu coming from the Samveda and later shashtras and traditions, the bhajan is Hindu, the author was Hindu. They may be Muslim in their personal lives but it that has nothing to do with their performance or what they’re performing. In fact it’s the Hindu influence on them and their practise that they are singing this, orthodox Islam doesn’t allow music, esp not that which venerated a non Muslim deity.

This bhajan’s inherent spirituality, its compassion and humanistic pain used to bring tears to Gandhiji. This brilliant duo has exquisitely and sensitively brought out the song’s soul.
I felt all that essence of devotion humanism and devineness while Adding a suitable comment after listening to this Bhajan as my prime responsibility, and a chance to remember our father of my nation Mohan karam Chand Gandhiji. The voice and the Sitar combination was very very fabulous.Thank you dear Music geneouses.
Pratyush is correct, this song (could be called a bhajan, but it is actually a song, it is not singing any praises of God, or asking God for anything) is the creation of Narsinh Mehta, a Krishna bhakt, a poet, a writer of great literature, and someone who understood the concept of Social Justice back in the 15th century! He clearly expresses how we are all God's children and that all lives matter! His writings in Gujarati (as is this song) are created in a very high-level Gujarati language and are indicative of his mastery of the language.
Ustaad Shujaat Khaniji - I'm a big fan of yours and always love to listen to your ghazals. I live in London but would consider it a blessing and realisation of a dream to meet you in person in Delhi. Thank you 🙏🙏🙏
Best of all the versions of the same song, without any doubt THE VERY BEST. I am speechless, can listen to this a billion times with the fervor of the first time.

Very difficult to sing in this style. The starts often happening from 'faank' or zero beat, and to combine with this raga, I don't know how he managed to pull it off so beautifully.
