I just read the caption and I am not sure if it is necessary to watch the Video after Cailer Woolams 432.5kg Sumo Deadlift with hookgrip. But it is always a good thing to watch jujis and toms Videos. They are the best entertainment on UA-cam.

you guys should get some gripping jars. its a ceramic jar ther had a stubby wide bottle neck with a small lip. you lift the jar by gripping the bottle neck lip and gradually fill it with what ever you want

Hey dudes. I am having shoulder surgery this Friday. Wondering if you could recommend 1 or 2 grip strength tools that I could use during recovery to limit muscle loss.
Is it just me or does Juji seem really tired or burnt out the last few videos. One thing is for sure he is never faking that enthusiasm for other people it's always there.

Juji & Tom Juji you’re attitude is great. It’s this passive aggressive tone you have mixed with laughter. This video you said “well he deadlifts 950 with hook grip seems to be working good for him” while laughing and another one video this guy deadlifted with a very wide stance, and you joked how he’s just making it harder on himself. Most people I know just dig in on people when they are logically incorrect, juji laughs it off and doesn’t make it a big deal, but opens the door to maybe help someone and discuss what they could do better
There was Oliver Orok - old school Nigerian weightlifter - who didn't use hook grip at all. He was built like a bodybuilder

Do grip strength pull ups for a new video, either Magnus or Devon would kill it!
I think one of the best ways to test regular vs hook grip is to do a max deadlift hold for time at like 225lbs with both grips and see which one holds longer. Think you’ll see a huge difference with the hook grip.
thats slightly unfair though because sustained pressure on the hook grip leads to pain. Which will lead to premature failure. Hookgrip is better in short bursts. One reason why its better for low rep movements like snatch and cleans. I dont really recommend it for large rep workouts with heavy weights. for deadlifting.

Hook grips in weightlifting are much more demanding than such in deadlifting, though. I've lost a couple cleans but only ever lost a single deadlift due to grip.

Great video! Just a note that the injured weightlifter you reference was married at the time of the injury, so his wife was helping him out, not his girlfriend. Also, the clean and jerk you show was 22 months after the injury, not six, although that would’ve been nice! Thanks for the shout out! This is great stuff!

I'm barely at intermediate level for deadlifts so my opinion doesn't mean all that much.... but, for me personally, hook grip has been far superior to mixed. The first time I tried hook grip I only felt slight discomfort and I was able to work my way up to my previous 1RM right there and then comfortably using hook. I feel like the adrenaline rush from deadlifts helps to offset the pain, and it's really nice to get that sense of symmetry and safety from hook when compared to mixed. That said my thumb is freakishly large relative to my fingers so that might be why.
