$1, $5 and $10 boxes were the money makers back in the days when I used to set up at card shows. Not everyone can afford a thousand dollar card, but 99% of the people at a card show can afford $1, 5 and 10 dollar cards.
I do the same thing when I go to card shows. I never look into any of the showcases because the cards there are usually priced much higher than what they should be. It's hard to get someone to sell for less than comps.
Don’t know how I feel about guys on your level doing this. Kids can’t always get to the shows right when they open. People who have a limited budget that’s where they thrive and you are already there taking all the affordable good stuff. You’re already a millionaire with one of the best collections, a full team of card employees, an app and opening one of the largest card shops. Maybe leave some for the people actually trying to get into the hobby.
100% agree. Geoff is just an example of alot of money hungry, greedy people infesting this hobby. At least the bubble has burst. Hell lose it all soon enough.
Sound like a crybaby to me. TBH I doubt this is a normal routine, just a video to showcase the type of finds you to can have if you get out and do the the work to look... Anyways just my take. He certainly didn't make his fortune and build his empire by doing this... If anything you should feel motivated
Awesome seeing Joe in the video! He owns the card shop I've been going to since I was a kid and I just caught up with him yesterday after about 15 years away from the collecting scene. Great video!
Those cards were way overpriced in your $225 deal and then it's somehow $275. Everyone knows Geoff and those two goofs he has as partners for the shop are going to price out all the Deion Sanders for $3-$5 and say that's a good deal, check market movers lol
So the guy at the 4:20 min mark he used to set up at a local show in Louisville. About a year ago out of his $1 box i found roughly 10 $50+ cards including a very rare Shaquille O'Neal metal linchpins insert and sold that card alone on ebay for $210. Last time i saw him set up at any of the shows i go to was in October 2022. I keep hoping to run into him again
I have a question when setting up a $1 box about how should the cards be worth should they be $1-$4 and $5 be $5-$9 then $10 be $10-$14 or should would a box for each dollar amount $1-$10 be better
I only partially agree that all the good stuff is gone early. I set up in Allen, TX with great dollar boxes, but people walk right by, so I end up with good stuff on Saturday or even Sunday!
No doubt, those Hoops rookies were hot during Covid but now you’d be lucky to get $5 for them because everyone was sitting on base cards and started pulling these out of their collections flooding the market. $12 for an Anthony Davis base Hoops rookie smh.
@@carolinatarheels7903 just think some people actually pay HIM for advice , it's bonkers , there's like 100+ card collectors on YT who know more than he does easily yet he gets the views
It used to be where you hunt in the bargain box for a cool card of your favorite players, now has turned into hunting for cards that you may be able to flip for a profit. Nothing wrong with that since I do it too, but flipping and grading/reselling for profit has seen significant declines with multipliers for graded cards going down. Plus you have all these kids, that would normally be ones to hunt in these bins, looking for, trading, and flipping high-end cards more and more. Value boxes are quickly declining in popularity and "cool looking" value cards are being substituted with "shield 1/1's", etc. Things we as kids never even considered.
While searching Griffey, he skips out on George Brett and Mike schmidt peaking out at him from stacks, then says he needs Dale Murphy for his store? Some good cards missed!!! Hard to go wrong with Schmidt and Brett. Im still having a hard time following this strategy.
He's buying inventory for his Atlanta location hence the heavy focus on Braves , he'll likely put those dime cards in a top loader and put in $1 boxes and flip for 10x cost
@@jonlavezza2364 Even if he is, he's missing deals. Schmidt and Brett always sell, regardless of location. I will give him credit on having Aaron on his radar, though.
yikes. paying 5 bucks for Bo Jackson baseball rookies that are regularly a buck or less in multiple boxes at every show I attend, a base Bowman Jeter that's not even a buck, 2nd year chrome base Manning that's worth a buck. And he geeks on a "Promotional Sample" that most of us know has no value because they were printed as a gimmick. The relic stuff at 5 is ok, top dollar, but, the rest of these picks in a 5 dollar box screams "noob". Granted, a noob with way more $ than me, but noob. especially regarding the junk wax era stuff. Glad he gave the dollar boxes some love, and that era some love, but a little too over the top. At least the stacks table was more in line with card values at 10 and 15 cents.
I just don't understand the appeal of buying $1-$5 value cards other than for collecting certain players. It can't be for making profits, right? These type of basic cards don't go up in value.
I don’t think I’ve ever seen any dealer that actual knows what they are doing, not using at least penny sleeves on cards. Who the hell just stacks a bunch of worthless cards with no protection on a table and charging ridiculous prices for stacks.
Well he made a bunch of sales lol. And it looks fun, $10 for a whole stack of cards is not ridiculous at all. Lighten up theres worse things to hate on in the world lol
How bout teach the kids a valuable lesson….early bird gets the worm. If my son misses out on some steals because he stayed up late or didn’t want to rush over at 7-7:30 am that’s his fault. We are waiting for the kids first. Maybe they want those.” 😂😂😂😂
Yeah he is trash 🗑️ cost me 200 dollars today I had patty and him both to get 2 TDs or more and he only got 1 and throws a interception on there final drive and they also lost by 14 so yeah

Goof Wilson buying $5 Rookie Sensation Admirals. Lmao.
