  • When looking for details of the noise levels of different silencers/mufflers and how effective DB killers or baffles were, I struggled to find a lot of content. So I made this hoping it helps someone else.
The bike is a 2017 Yamaha MT10. It is fitted with a Leo Vince decat pipe. Notably this pipe has a very small inline silencer that may make it a touch quieter than other decats that are straight through pipes.
The dB levels are measured using an iPhone app called Decibel X. I have no affiliation nor do I know how accurate it is. But I felt that as long as the volume was measured consistently it would be comparable. The measurement was taken from a 1m distance (3ft) at around a 30 degree angle from the rear.
    The silencers tested were:
    OEM
    Leo Vince LV10
    Scorpion Serket Taper Carbon
The last one is test with and without Scorpions own dB killer. It's a short open ended narrower pipe. I tested these as I had them all. No other reason.
After fitting the dB killer baffle the bike is still noises, but much more manageable on longer rides. It also has reintroduced back pressure which has made the standard map more responsive. It will be tuned on a dyno in due course.

Thank you so much for this!!!!
I"ve been on the edge trying to decide if the Leo Vince would be too loud.

@@CharlesAlexanderJr I ended up getting a Dan moto mid pipe for really cheap and paired it with the stock muffler. It sounds perfect without being obnoxious loud.

Thank you for this video. I have a straight through pipe with my scorpion exhaust right now and was thinking about going for the Leovince link pipe. Just what I needed thank you. Great vid.

Thanks for this, like you I struggled to find it elsewhere. For reference for others wondering I recently used the same app for the standard cat and exhaust set up and values were 78-80 db.

Nice but you might want to show the result @ 5700rpm as they show on the sticker on the frame. ;-)

    Hello from Barcelona,
The Leovince suppressor is compatible with any exhaust?
Without making modifications to the connection with the scorpion exhaust?
    Thank you very much!
    Cheers.

Hi mate... thanks for the test..... I'm interested what you thought was the deepest sound rather than the volume ? Its hard to tell true sound after youtube download !!!!. Thanks ..... Appreciate the effort

Im struggling with the same problem... I dont want it to be stupidly loud but deep. Right now i convinced that the best might be the AustinRacing one. Did u find any better?

So the db killer definitely took the edge off it.

Sound test is more like held at 3 thow and then at 6 thow as mot or race track tester would 🤔
