- The animated short film on the Battle of Bukit Chandu was first created by a group of passionate animation students in 2005 at Nanyang Polytechnic (NYP) School of Interactive and Digital Media (SIDM). This year, in-conjunction with the Battles of Singapore Exhibition, the animation clip was further edited and re-mastered to Full HD with the addition of a 3D Motion Title Sequence and an interview with one of the last surviving soldiers from the Malay Regiment that fought at Bukit Chandu. The interview not only adds authenticity to the animation but also brings honour to those who defended our nation at that time.
Although it is an animated short film, the story is based on factually-accurate events that took place in Singapore during World War II. The purpose of utilizing animation as a medium was to present what is traditionally a serious and terrifying subject, to one that would make the narratives of such events more interesting and accessible to our younger generation. The intent was to capture their attention, and at the same time maintain the tone and accuracy of the events that transpired, and in the process show the viewers the importance and necessity of defending our nation.
The additions, which were created by a new team of SIDM students from the Diploma in Motion Graphics and the Diploma in Digital Visual Effects, have enhanced the original animated clip to have a stronger visual emphasis and impact.

Rest In Peace to Lieutenant Adnan and his men and the entire Malay Regiment for their sacrifices and virtue in battle against the Japanese invasion of Singapore. May their heroic sacrifices and bravery be never forgotten in the history of Singapore and Malaysia.

There were survivors who were in the battle known for abbas he and the rest of one british soldier and 3 malay men retreated as they went to safety before the japanese could capture them.

Betul tu. Walaupun saya org Singapura, Allahyarham Lt.Adnan org Selangor. Masa tu pun Singapura masih milik Malaysia. Jadi tak salah jugak Lt.Adnan dinamakan pahlawan negeri Singapura, Negara Malaysia. Cuma dilahirkan di Selangor.

Ada sedikit blooper. Tentera Melayu menggunakan Lee Enfield model No 4 yang anakronistik pada tahun 1942 kerana Lee Enfield No 4 baru digunakan oleh tentera British di Eropah pada tahun tu.

@@josephdonnluna4483 Exactly. The Lee Enfield model in the video was first produced around 1941. Around those time, UK was under German bombing, which makes it not possible for the new models to reach Malaya in a short time.

You must notice that the part where they say they were out of ammo was like a joke when in a building in Alexandra Hill, there was a lot of ammos reserved there. If only they were delivered to them and considering the fact that multiple small victories were achieved from Leftenan Adnan's battallion and defensive positions. ~_~

Jen Chi No - the British army were busy running away rather than helping company C platoon lead by Lieutenant Andan and Lieutenant Abbas...the main reason Adnan's platoon defeated was the Brits suddenly stopped aiding firing artillery shells when requested by Adnan's platoon defense...if the artillery guns kept on firing...1000 japanese troops will never be enough to penetrate Adnan's well bunkered defense because of the uphill strategic defense bunkers.
