This place is definitely my virtual home, I´ve been playing this game since 1999 and I still dont get tired.
I played it so much I forgot where to go to continue the story so I was just lost.
When I was a kid I wished I could visit and sleep in Balamb garden :)
I always stopped before going on the train mission... I just want the quiet atmosphere of the balamb garden.. training with the trex..

while some of the mechanics could be improved the mood in this one was perfectly captured. it was the perfect modern rpg
Still my favourite Final Fantasy ever. I will remember my Christmas 1999 for the rest of my life, thanks to this game.
im 39 years old..and this music brings back sooo many memories. I wish i could go back and appreciate these games more knowing how much they'd mean. Back in the day i was hooked on this game..thinking it was so amazing. It still is. Us 90s kids had it amazing and we didnt even realize it.

I played this when it came out! I've always wanted to live and go to school in Balamb Garden. I would fall asleep to this music a lot.
Yeah I was the same. In fact when I went to university I would have the Balamb garden theme playing a lot. Haha

Ikr it just looks so beautiful and peaceful and calming same with certain areas in ff7 as well and also taio high school from rival schools

The music, the world, the ambience, the events. It's SOOOO good!
I don't hate it, but it's my least favourite out of the PS1 FF games, FFIX being my favourite. I still absolutely love the music in VIII though.

people hate the junction system so much that they hate VIII entirely and went to VII is the reason I have a minor antagonize at VII...
If they disregard the junction system, this game is solid, same as IX.
But VII overshadowed them both (VIII and IX)

The junction system is not that hard to understand!
And you can just auto-fill it if you need!

I realized that FF8 actually wants their players to play in exploration and farming instead of grinding. We farm the magic from monsters and quickly ran away. And if we're lower level with powerful magic equipped, we're actually stronger than the bosses because all of them scaled to our levels.

Ah yes, the save point you kept going back to whenever Quistis' card wouldnt show up or you get beaten.
FF7 is my favorite, but there's something so cozy and comforting about FF8. Definitely a treasure.
This was the game that got me hooked on Jrpgs and turn-based combat. I've played through it countless times and I'll keep returning to it for long as I continue to breathe.

Non-ironically one of the most original settings in a Final Fantasy game. I wish we could go with the Board School thing in later entries of the series. Oh, FFVIII, how much you need a Remake...

it's just a difference of taste. Also most have yet to try this game because of the negative reviews. But we homies who have finished this game repeatedly knows how awesome this game is and that's what matters :)
Draw system for me and scaling on leveling up, music is lovely though!!
@@McKeever1990 The draw system can be cheesed when you have high enough MAG. For leveling, it takes a while but once you get the Tonberry GF, you have full control over the game's leveling system.

I didn't get to play FF8 because I play FF9 during my childhood, but my big brother played FF8, and I still love this song when he was playing FF8. One of the best FF city/lounge themes.
