A great event! Thanks for sharing this for the railroad family all over the world! Track laying and telegraph wires were the internet of the 19th century. Thanks to our ancestors, you are unforgotten!
I enjoyed visiting the National Monument site a few years ago. They had volunteers doing a re-enactment at the time. They even asked members of the visiting audience to put on old clothes, and join in the "crowd" for the photograph ... I'm thinking it was during September of that year, and that's where I got my "golden geezer" senior pass for the National Parks ... it was a good deal, and back then, it was an even better deal ...
Thank you so very much for being there and recording this most beautiful ceremony, it brought tears to my eyes and and lump to my throat watching the re-enactment. It actually made me feel as though I was there when the Golden Spike was driven, it was such a Monumental occasion for the United States. It's wonderful to see the efforts of so many who helped to build the rails have not been forgotten. God Bless You. 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏. 🎉🚂🚂🎉🎆🎇🎆🎇
It’s very nice to see the beautiful models of the 4-4-0 general after 150 years of celebrating this day it’s always been a nice time for railfans and even more!
Wonderful! I wish I had been on hand to witness this momentous occasion. Thank you for documenting it! One day, I hope to make a pilgrimage to this hallowed site that truly represents the culmination of a monumental effort to unite a continent and a nation by fledgling members of this nation who sacrificed so much for so little.
It's fairly clear that this was the practice, given that there aren't seething mobs of people involved. Anyway, I'm sure it all led to a better presentation.
Hello to everyone. Congratulations to the history of railroading. I wish I could have been there.
