  • Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power reviews are out for season 2 and while many love the new series, many Rings of Power season 1 fans are not keen. Would J.R.R. Tolkien be proud of this adaptation? Sophia Nomvete is praised as Disa while many of the rest of the cast, and their dialogue is similar to Rings of Powers first season. And as 37% of the audience of Rings of power finished that first season, how many will remain to see the Season 2 finale? Is Rings of Power worth watching?

Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power season 2 reviews are here and while some lesser known critics are big fans, many of the larger media platforms have had enough. While they praised the first season, after completing it and then having to sit through all 8 episodes of season 2 in one go, they've had enough. Calling Rings of Power season 2 everything from pure torture to unendingly boring, it seems like we're getting more of the same. Awful dialogue, meaningless philosophy for faux depth and more destruction of the lore. The real question at this point is how long before they sick the dogs on the audience and start with the slurs again? But what did you think of the reviews? Let me know your thoughts down below and as always, thanks for watching :)

In most cases as they can't do 'men' they come across as bitchy entitled moaners who are worse than what they claim to be toxic men and who we're supposed to believe are also physically superior. Men must be portrayed as stupid, weak or bastards who can never either physically nor mentally compete with any woman. I can't recall in the last 50+ years of films/TV men involved in making them ever portraying women on screen in an equivalent derogatory way and when I think about even older films, not even then.

I cannot agree more. Tolkien was (and still is) one of the very (very) few writers that literally had ZERO sexualisation in any of their works. There is absolutely not a single hint of that. Check some his lovestory moments (Beren and Luthien, Aragorn and Arwen, even the horrific story of Turin and Niniel). You only see the most pure love there. Nothing more. Absolutely pure heavenly love, they barely ever touch, even in movies. Scenes with Aragorn and Arwen in movies are so damn romantic, so idealistic, you literaly want to cry wishing for something like that to happen to you, something otherwordly, greater than life. Tolkien was very religious so it is no wonder he wrote like that and he reflected all of his eternal love for his wife in LotR and Silimarilion lovestories. How the hell can someone disrespect something like that by claiming that he wrote about lgbtqxyz??? That is INSULT pure. Toliken created to most perfect form of fantasy and everything after that is, for me, fanfiction. No sexy titty elves in tight outfits in Tolkien books. He did not need cleaveage to captivate his readers. His works are an ideal, a scale to measure the quality of everything else.
How can someone be that arrogant to claim he or she can do better, rewrite what he did, claim to find "inspiration" for something Tokien himself would consider (i cannot say it, might get banned)? They literaly smear shit on his creation and legacy.

So from what I recall, Tolkien based Galadriel on his wife. The love of his life, the reason she's so influential, powerful, and beautiful is because that's how she was to him. And now, the writers are making her sleep with Satan. I cannot begin to think of a more vile, disgusting piece of "updating" lore than this. I don't know how to finish this comment off because I'm so angry, someone say something good beneath for me

What do you mean sleeping with Satan? You mean Sauron? He is not that bad at all, a bit misunderstood if anything else. You see, there is no thirst of power that doesn't involve making sacrifices. At the end, there is always someone that must have the power to control. If you think those peasants are going to have a better life under their hereditary kings... well then you don't know feudalism... 2nd age lasts 3,441 years
Galadriel was born in 1362 in Valinor in the Year of the Trees, before the First Age.
Galadriel married Celeborn at the end of the First Age.
Celebrian was born in 300 of the Second Age.
Sauron rises again in Middle Earth in 500
Mordor, which has existed since the First Age, Mount Doom, being the original fortress of Morgoth, had been chosen as Sauron's stronghold, as Sauron constructed the Black Gate in 1000
Sauron deceives the Ñoldor in Eregion, but Gil-Galad distrusts him in 1200
Celeborn and Galadriel, together with their daughter Celebrían, emigrate from Eregion to Lothlórien in 1350
The Ñoldor under Celebrimbor are instructed by Sauron, beginning the forging of the Rings of Power in 1500; Galadriel has been in Lothlórien for 150 years by this point, in no way involved with the forging or any of the events to come...
The One Ring was forged, and the Black Gate was completed in 1600. Celebrimbor also perceives Sauron's treachery at this time. Galadriel is still in Lothlórien...
War of the Elves and Sauron began in 1693
Eregion was destroyed in 1697, Celebrimbor died, and Elrond established Rivendell.
Rivendell and Lindon were besieged in 1699 but held off the sieges
Sauron's forces, nearly entirely destroyed, retreated from Eriador in 1700
Miriel was never Queen of Númenor. Ar-Pharazôn the Golden seized the phone by marriage in 3255
Sauron was taken hostage by Ar-Pharazôn the Golden, not Miriel, in 3261
Sauron was taken prisoner to Númenor and further corrupted the Númenoreans in 3262
Sauron becomes Ar-Pharazôn's court advisor in 3265
In 3310, at Sauron's instigation, Ar-Pharazôn begins building the Great Armament, a massive fleet to assail the Valar across the Sea and wrest immortality from them.
In 3319, Ar-Pharazôn set foot on Aman, drastically changing the world; Aman and Tol Eressëa were removed from Arda, Númenor was drowned, and the world was round. This was also when Elendil arrived with his sons Isildur and Anárion.
Umbar becomes a stronghold of the Black Númenoreans in 3320
Sauron surprise attacks and seizes Minas Ithil in 3429 and burns the White Tree, beginning the War of the Last Alliance.
The Last Alliance of Elves and Men formed in 3430
Sauron's forces are defeated in the Battle of Dagorlad, and the Siege of Barad-dûr begins in 3434
    Anárion is slain in 3440
Elendil and Gil-Galad died in combat against Sauron in 3441, and Isildur finally defeated Sauron by taking the shards of his father's sword, Narsil, and cutting the One Ring from Sauron's finger. This destroyed Sauron's physical form and won the war.
Why is Galadriel involved in anything beyond 1350? She is supposed to be in Lothlórien.
Did anyone on this garbage show know anything about Tolkien's world and Middle Earth?!
When are the events of Rings of Power supposed to take place? The Second Age? Galadriel can only be involved up to 1350. Isildur was born in 3209 but is in the show.
Ar-Pharazôn weds Miriel in 3255, so again, Galadriel can't be involved since Galadriel HAS BEEN IN Lothlórien SINCE 1350!

I found out they don’t have the rights to anything except what’s in LOTR and The Hobbit. The Tolkien estate refuses to licence any other parts of his works. The only reason they can do Rings Of Power is because they bought the rights from the current rights holders. The appendices of LOTR contain a brief sketch of Middle Earth history. Sufficient to get some key points to seem significant. But basically ROP is fan fiction written by people who liked the glittery bits, but have their own agenda which doesn’t fit in any way with the legacy of Tolkien.
I was 45 minutes into the first episode of S1, about at the point where the “Hobbits” turned up, and the sulky elf (yes, the black one) had made his appearance sneaking around. It was at that 45min mark that I discovered they didn’t have the rights to the Silmarillion, and I just turned it off. And never watched any more. I’ve been tempted to go back a few times, but I just look at my Peter Jackson box sets, and illustrated Lord of the Rings and Hobbit books and decide I have less wasteful things to do with my life.

Was it always easy? of course not, she was called Paddy because that what she'd write on the call sheets so there would be less trouble if someone took exception to being directed by a woman, as Paddy is generally a short form for Patrick and not Patricia. she butted heads on occasion, but her work spoke for itself and she worked regularly at the BBC for over 40 years.

If Amazon doesn't cancel the show before the writers reach "the end of their story" then Galadriel is going to turn Sauron into a "redeemed bad boy" but for some completely contrived reason he has to "keep playing the bad guy," completely changing the entire plot of Lord of the Rings by casting them as star-crossed forlorn lovers. @@MrCovi2955 that was sarcasm my dude. It’s the obvious lack of morals that’s so apparent. I’m saying that so many people in writers rooms completely lack a moral compass as to why they try to justify the bad guys. Watch the directors for the Acolyte bragging about how they’d be Dark Siders because ‘it’s cooler’, completely ignoring all the atrocities they commit on the regular. How much more obvious can you get that the Sith are evil when their whole shtick is hatred and power hungry? Unless of course they actively identify with and desire to be such. Same situation here: nobody involved has a moral compass as seen with them trying to make Sauron the ‘misunderstood good guy’ here.

I honestly think, it doesnt matter how poorly written and poorly produced the movie/show is, as long as "THE MESSAGE" is in full effect. And with that being said there must be a deeper meaning behind all of this, a forced subversion on ideology. Clearly money is no issue with hollywood as long as "THE MESSAGE" is constant. Very doubtful this gets seen, but I just want to say that your videos and channel have been a godsend to me. I am an assistant director in Vancouver, and I've had to watch the absolute idiocy and failure of those above me writing garbage, attacking fans, and then wondering why our industry is failing. Hollywood is one of the few service industries (that's really what we are) where we do not ascribe to the "Customer is always right" mantra. If I go to a Japanese restaurant and my food is done wrong, and I complain/return it - they don't go "You're a racist" they say "We're so sorry, let us fix that." Hollywood does the opposite.
Because I grew so fed up with these failures I decided to write my own original IP television series. Having worked on Lost in Space, Shogun, Monarch: Legacy of Monsters, and quite a few others I have an idea what goes into productions of big value. I have basically used your videos as a "How to not fuck up" a story while writing the first two episodes. I'm currently through round one of pitches towards Apple Plus (They did Foundation, I love that series) - and I am hoping to get moralistic characters, women with flaws and growth arcs, and so on through the DEI gatekeepers - something I am very against.
And unlike my colleagues in the industry, if my series gets produced and ends up on your channel, I will be both disappointed that I failed, and excited to see feedback! Keep it up!

Many years ago, I ran a middle-earth rpg set in the east, that I named The Untold Trilogy. One of my players wanted to be a wizard and so played as the blue wizard Pallando. Along with a human knight, a wood elf ranger, a werebear rogue, and two dwarven brothers who occasionally fought inbetween drinking homemade dwarven ale.
The campaign had the Easterlings as the main protagonists, the evil faction led by Alatar (the other blue wizard), who had been corrupted by the influence of Morgoths spirit. Alatar rode on a blue crystal dragon and had two balrog bodyguards.
The party aided in the Easterlings civil war, and eventually succeed. Through many adventures the party travelled through enchanted forests filled with kaukareldar (evil fey), the keep of the frozen barrow king. The underneath, deep below the earth where the city of deep towers lay, ruled by the Nauglath (evil deep dwarfs), who tended the vats of Umalar (where Morgath created monsters). Through the swamps of cragmire barrow filled with mirelurk spiders, huge fell beasts, crebain and the great hag with her oloh-hai (trolls).
The party learned how to free the good easterling from Morgoths influence and how to fight for their freedom.
One of the most profound moments was when the players sought refuge in the elven city of Ithil-Rana (moon spirit) and found it empty and ransacked, only to learn that Morgoth had turned every man, woman and child into orcs for Saurons army. Also here, were the calcified remains of treants, one of the last known refuge for the entwives, as Pallando summarised.
In the penultimate final battle on the Steppes of Hithlum, below mount Kratos, the fifty thousand strong easterling army and their oliphaunts fought against the now free easterlings, and their grizzly bear mounts.
The party, along with the stone giants of Kratos, fought Alatars forces in Castle Azure, high up upon Mount Kratos. In an act of selfless sacrifice, the player of Pallando, frees alatar from the grasp of Morgoths spirit.
Like Gandalf, Pallando is sent back to complete his task, to the surprise of the other players mourning from his death.
The two blue wizards, now reunited as brothers, control the elements from high upon mount Kratos, to change the course of the battle below. While the rest of the party charge onto the battlefield, flying down on the backs of the giant falcons of Freya, who were summoned by Alatar.
The battle is finally won and the players are exuberant with the victory. I ordered pizza for everyone as they sat back, taking a break for a bit. They really felt like they'd been fighting for their lives for the 3 hours that the battle had lasted. I then read the final monologue describing the end of the campaign, as they ate their pizza.
As reward the players learned that the number of Easterlings that aided Sauron during the war was greatly reduced and Pallando earned the name East-helper, as referenced in the wiki.
Everyone felt like they had actually played a part in the movies, it was such a wholesome ending.
This would make for a better story than what these people are creating on Amazon.

They totally went the wrong way with this. What they should have done was shift over to Hardwaith and the Haradrim. They were IN the Appendices, and it would have given us a lore look at how Sauron convinced them to come over to his side as the Lord of Gifts. It also could've been used to demonstrate how the Haradrim were less enticed by Sauron, so much as having suffered years of suffering and war at the hands of Gondor, who were not only demanding heavy tithes that included people, but even built a great fortress on their lands, and AGAIN, in the Appendices.
For all that we see Gondor at its height, we would also see how Sauron was able to rally other humans to his cause. We could've gotten to see the founding of Lothlorien, and Galadriel trying to get the lords of Gondor to see what was coming, but that falling on deaf ears, even as we see Sauron advancing his cause in Hardwaith, but because it's out of the way from Gondor, they don't pay it any mind.

It's not his son. It's the rest of the family. Christopher had been protecting LOTR for his whole life. He died in 2019 at 95. The only reason the movies (which I love btw) even happened was because of pressure from the family.

If I was the Tolkien estate from here on out I would demand a clause saying if you want access to this material every creative decision and casting has to be approved by me. The actors would need to demonstrate an understanding of their character and the writers would be whipped by me making sure shit like Rings of Power can never happen again. I'm so fucking sick of these inept clowns ruining the opportunities of these new entries in beloved franchises.

The massive issue company's have now days is that they try to take franchise that was aimed at men and try to make them more "welcoming" to female, sadly that removes allot of what men like about the story/lore.
I'm tired to see political dilemma's and gender politics in shows that was mainly aimed at male viewers before this growing culture of PC.
So when they are surprised to see there paying fan base leaving to find something more in there taste cause they feel betrayed they should not be surprised and when the few that want it to change back try to voice there opinion they get yelled at called racist, sexist and other things rather than taking any criticism.

I’m a massive Tolkien fan. I own over 20 Tolkien books, art books, and much much more….
When this show was announced, I WAS IN HIGH SCHOOL!!!2017
I knew from the start it was going to be a disaster…
Characters like Gandalf and Galadriel being recast for WHAT REASON??? These beings are thousands of years old. Gandalf was literally sent to Middle Earth as an OLD MAN!!!! why recast Ian ????? Because of the casting I was not very interested in the show to begin with. Aside from the fact that it took NEARLY. 10 years to finish…..
After watching the first episode (in which I couldn’t even finish) I was extremely underwhelmed and disappointed! What a waste of time….

@@BrandonDenny-we1rw Ian’s issue with it was working with green screens. He still had passion and love for Tolkien’s work he just got tired of being on green screens. He didn’t use them as much in the LOTR films there was still a ton of freedom back then. But after X-men and the hobbit he realized sci-fi and fantasy film were only headed in one direction.
That wasn’t really my point tho. I was just saying the new show doesn’t pay any homage to the original series’ or even Tolkien’s written work himself. There are so many beloved characters that are just ruined in the show. And I’m not only talking about the characters we already know from film. I’m also talking about characters we never really saw or heard speak in the films! They ruined them too 😂 their casting choices are just abysmal.
And it was clear from the beginning they didn’t really care about respecting the die hard fans
