"you hate the show because there is representation" no karen, we do not hate it for that, we hate it for being mediocre representation. THIS is how do it.
I heard of a very plausible reason why the side and antagonistic characters ended up being the better written characters overall, and it's because the people that the creators hate are just... people with actual fucking depth, that it very much seeps into their writing, making the protagonists one note and annoying as all hell if you look at them with a sane mind and the ones we are supposed to not like are just... actual people with actual depth.
Not entirely sure the original scene really, truly portrayed Snapdragon as trans. It just seems to me he liked female clothes. A guy can in fact like and/or prefer female clothing without being female though. That being said, in the context of this scene, you make a wonderful storyteller. Please keep making these scenes. I'd love to see a full on rewrite of High Guardian Spice.
I think a few of the writers might not have liked trans women, so it wasn't mentioned directly. A complete rewrite could explore these themes in better detail without worry of "disagreement" from other team members.
@@charliekahn4205 The whole reason snapdragon WAS trans was because their VA was Trans and wanted their character to be like them, but the writers didn't bother to write the rest of the character around it. Sounds like the worst ever to much responsibility and if something were to happen to me they would probably not take it as seriously depending on what it is.
"The same reason you want to be a girl you little shit!" This is a really well done and emotional moment, and the direction in the animatic is so spot-on for carrying the visual storytelling. But I *lost it* at that line, oh my god.
And unlike the only swear word we got in this show, this felt nessasary. When the purple hair girl did it, it felt forced and should've been removed to make this a kids show.
"It's NEW and experimental" THANK YOU! The whole show, there was always the obvious answer of new magic, which could just do anything. Introducing transformation magic as something even more new, as something experimental which also might be risky, is a great choice. Why doesn't every trans person go to magic? It's the newest magic, which until very recently wasn't possible. You would have to repeat the procedure as we know in the show, and new stuff is expensive. And it might bring risks with it. Perfect explaniation, which makes a "Well, duh" a realistic plot point.
The fact that this isn't even colored, animated, voiced, and you still managed to make this scene much more touching and powerful than the real scene in the series. Really shows your talent and craft as a writer/director, you have skill in telling stories, and I really wish you could bring this into the big screen one day. Thank you very much for making this, and I hope to see more of your work!
This animatic has more GENUINE emotion, heart and soul in it than most of the actual series.( I haven't finished watching the series so I can't say for sure about the whole series.) It is definitely quite a piece of quality...
“Why would you want to be a boy?!” “The same reason you want to be a girl you little shit!!!” Yknow how teachers talk to kids? But fr I wish you had made this series, just the love you put into these two scenes makes such a better story. Great work!
This interaction is technically outside of the teacher-student dynamic, since it's outside of the school environment, so the characters have a little more freedom.
I remember one of my English teachers in high school told us about how he recognized a student outside of school. The kid didn't hear him calling his name, so he went, "Hey, you little bitch, get over here!" So I can suspend my disbelief here haha.
"Why would you want to be a boy?!" "The same reason as you want to be a girl you little *shit!*" I swear to god that cracked me up. That little bit of comedy there was refreshing and I loved it.
It made me feel that in a certain way they were close. I don't know, like they're family and they have an emotional conversation but they certainly say something and it alleviates the issue
The fact that this is neither colored, voiced, or animated and still brought me to the verge of tears shows me how amazingly well this is written. Edit: I’m stupid. This makes way more sense now.
I literally cried. Whoever disliked this must've misclicked. This was so good. Please just write the show. Start it from scratch crunchyroll! We have a better writer!!!
I swear, when I watched HGS and found out about Snapdragon being a trans women, I was not convinced. They wrote him off like he's a femboy and "Therefore he's a trans woman because no men can like feminine things!" But when I watched this scene that you re-wrote, it felt convincing, in some way, that Snapdragon, is a girl, that she likes these girly things because she's a girl _too._ And you can really feel her frustration in this storyboard about how people would often tell her she's confused and whatnot, that felt real. Edit: apparently ppl are still commenting on this so let me clarify. “Why did you misgender her in the first sentence?” cuz i don’t recognize HGS writing teams effort. I don’t recognize their bad world building and gender struggles and representation. This is why i misgendered her the first half and not the second, because I recognize effort this creator made to write Snapdragon as a clearly struggling trans girl. I’m nb, I’ve struggled the same way Snapdragon has here and can relate to her, yet i can’t find any of the same kind of solidarity with the show’s portrayal of her. Speaks to how poor HGS writing is. “But that doesn’t change the fact that she’s trans!!” yeah, then convey it. This is like making a non-human character that you just assumed white until the creator comes out of nowhere and say ‘they’re black actually!!’ when theres literally nothing in the writing that says they’re black-coded. ‘black-coded’ don’t mean stereotypes btw, look at Darwin from TAWOG, a fish with legs and yet the writing was able to clearly distinguish him as black.
@Oblivion 1 no, i know she's suppose to be trans. But the way they wrote her off just doesn't feel convincing, it doesn't feel like Snapdragon is a trans woman struggling with her gender and identity, they wrote her off as sort a femboy that everybody confused as being trans. That's why i said "The show's writing Snapdragon as a struggling trans woman doesn't feel convincing, but in this rewrite it does.". That's just my personal opinion tho, which i'm not suppose to share (jk jk)
@@thenamed1641 wait, actually? Should I refer to myself as a roseboy (I previously used femboy when referring to myself), then? I never heard someone use that term before.
@@yesouioo it all depends on what you're comfortable with! I am a trans Femboy, and I'll never stop calling myself that- a lot of people don't like it because "Femme-boy" is an old insult, but hey! So was queer. and others *think* it's a slur because some assholes like to call trans women femboys, which they are not. Femboy means "feminine boy" and that's what I am. Roseboy is a very cute term imo, but I don't think either is wrong
Seeing both of your animatics has made me cry tears of joy as a transmasc person. I wish these were the actual scenes in the show instead of what we actually got, because this is the kind of representation and discussions I desperately want to see more of. Both the art and dialogue are wonderfully done! Thank you for making these, it means a lot to me. ;w;
YES! It actually captures the dysphoria more than “I don’t like how I’m treated as a boy so maybe should be a girl”, canon snapdragon doesn’t feel trans, he just feels like someone bullied into thinking guys cant have feelings and the only way to be feminine like he wants to be is to become an actual girl. THIS says “Snapdragon is trans” and not “Snapdragon is sick of being bullied”
the fact an entire team, with a full staff and backed by a company, couldn't make me feel even an ounce of what you have with a simple animatic, shows how little the creators of HGS cared about telling a good story, over spreading propaganda. My hat is off to you good sir/lady....as is my subscription and likes
As if their twitters weren't enough proof of what the show was going to be all about. I have gotten quite a big survival instinct and whenever I find that some movie/serie's directors spread toxicity in sites such as Twitter, saying that "all men should die" and things like that, I automatically avoid their works as if they were the Pest, because this type of people project their political ideologies into their works
genuine question: what do you mean by _propaganda_ here? Do you mean that the portrail of LGBT-people is a caricature which one would expect coming from far-right people? Do you mean some other agenda with is more subtle? I've seen this comment often and don't know what exacly is meant.
@@keviren6443 One thing is representating a person who is trans in a cartoon and another thing is to make political propaganda, which is used to influence in the viewers so they will cooperate with the political side who makes the propaganda, in this case, to try to make people adapt left side + LGBTQ+ political beliefs.
it's killing me to know that this isn't actually in HGS. the amount of love you put into this animatic and the pure feeling of every single beat of this scene was just AMAZING! you did a seriously good job at re-writing this scene, and i'm actually in awe at how well you juggled the serious part of this conversation while also including a bit of humor with the "the same reason you wanna be a girl, you little shit!" line. it's perfect for a show like high guardian spice and just UGHHHH i'm obsessed!
Genuinely feel like they should re-do the whole show. It felt forced when they were talking about the problems the character had when they said it out loud. I like your way of stating Snapdragon's problem. Instead of the mouthy explanation they did with the professor, you made them state the struggle through emotions and made the characters be more 3d. From seeing the comments as well, you've made people relate to those characters in this one scene. This is definitely what they were missing in the show. Compassion, understanding through feelings/emotions, not being perfect as they are only human beings and not to straight up state what's happening like a children's show.
this is just. so perfect. I really love when snapdragon starts ranting and interrupts Caraway with "NO I DONT!!". Its pure emotion and displays the pure pain of dysphoria he holds in, the original writers could never do that. I really want to hear this voice acted now.
as a trans woman I feel very represented by Snapdragon character it was the one that really get my hopes with this, the scenes of her were the best ones and then I've never expected to see your animatics with her too, in the show she's already a pretty good character (tbh Amarylis and Snapdragon are the backbone of the show) but damn this animatics, you got it the best way possible, it was something that I feel deep in my heart and got some tears, the same ones I had with snap scenes when she was finding abot herself, but then this one, you nailed even better, this is really a gold scene
I may be cis, but I find this scene heartwarming. And I think I learned a little bit more of what trans people go through that I wasn't able to understand because of this & the other video.
See there's a big Distinction on how this right here was written and how it was portrayed in the show. The biggest difference is the level of emotional connection between the audience and the characters. You've more or less said the same thing as the original scene but you didn't have the words talked at the audience but had the audience sit down with the characters. It was far more emotional and far more personal because at the end of the day, people want to watch shows with good characters not stand-ins.
The fact you actually made the characters feel human was already cool as hell, then you just went out of your way to make the scene have impact (can i just say how much i laughed at the "Because of the same reason you want to be a girl, you little shit!" part? I can? Jesus i laughed a lot) and depth. THIS. IS. CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT! Honestly, mad respect.
I'm glad this show is what led me to finding some pretty creative and skilled UA-camrs such as yourself. You're showing them how it's done and I love seeing small UA-camrs grow, good luck in the future with this channel because it seems like you've got a bright one ahead :D
for fun i synched a bunch of UA-cam tabs of thunder, door knocking, and saddass music for a couple seconds, in 5 minutes and in the process making me tear up and it was still better than any high spice episode
*I started to have tears jerk out of my eyes when Snapdragon started saying one line of denial after the other. Most of what you had them say struck so similarly with what I would think to myself when I was still heavily contemplating my own gender identity. You once again did what HGS couldn't and I applaud you!* 💕💕 However if I were to give a brief critique I think it would be better if the characters said "Think of yourself as a girl" and "Was born female" instead of "Want to be a girl" and "Was born a girl". Snapdragons statements of "Wanting" are absolutely realistic because that's usually what many Trans kids think before realizing they've always been the Gender they think to be, but if the Professors words were worked up a little differently it would do justice in driving the message that Trans Identity is birth-bound and one's biology isn't the same as what they were assigned as. Not meant to bash at ALL! Just that I'm extremely thankful for these animatics and as a Trans viewer seeing these clips expand on their potential would be really moving! Other than that, it's overall a lovable animatic and you very much show much care to the topic, much love with this! (^^)
This. All of this. This interaction, the dialogue, the understanding, the "for the same reason you want to be a girl you little shit". I adore everything why can't it be like this.
I've never watched the original but this actually mesmerized me. halfway through the video my brain was filling in the voices, the sounds, the music. this was very well done!!
100% deserved to be redone, considering this seems like a pretty big part of snapdragons life in a way that it’ll affect their life it definitely deserves to have it’s own pace rather than being in between a fight. Amazing work 😁
This brought me to tears. As a trans girl, I felt everything Snapdragon was saying deep in my core. It just... It felt so visceral and raw. I refuse to believe this isn't canon.
Snapdragon is my favorite character after having watched a few clips I honestly think that them just being a femboy would have been more fitting, even more considering the lack of boys around the main cast, and it would've been a point for Sage to not be sexist, since they get along. But you made this scene so emotional, that them being trans seems less like pandering and more like another feature of the character's life, well done
it shows that this character is in pain. it was done in a way that everyone, to some extent, could relate to. that's what makes dysphoria something you _can_ understand on a more deep, personal level. i have body dysmorphia. sometimes i stare in the mirror and cry because i see someone that no one else does, and when i'm told nothing is wrong, i almost feel insulted. like, i see what's in the mirror, why are you telling me nothing's wrong? why are they lying about me, telling me i'm not fat? it might not be dysphoria, but my dysmorphia is why i understand how painful dysphoria must be. just looking in a mirror hurts on an almost physical level.
@@yourbootyholeisyourbeautyhole I repressed my feelings really bad for a long time. For around 14 years I'd look in the mirror and feel nothing at all. Like I didn't like my beard or my body hair, or my thinning hair, but I couldn't be assed enough to actually care about any of it. It was just how I was and it couldn't be changed is what I told myself. Theres no point in getting upset. When I finally confronted what I actually felt, when I realized those things I hated could actually be changed, it was like all 14 years of pain and hurt that I pushed away hit all at once. That was an absolutely horrid week while I processed everything and caused a deep depression thats still going on now over a year later. Now I do feel the pain of dysphoria because I can't just push it away like I used to. And its not just mirrors that cause it. Any realization on my masculinity can trigger it. I'll just be walking in the house, become aware of how male my body shape is and just need to stop, tense up, and just breathe for a few minutes like I was just punched in the gut. When its really bad, I just need to lie down and cry for a bit. It really is like physical pain sometimes even if it doesn't literally hurt.
Damn, I'm not even trans or a member of the LGBTQ+ community, but you really made me emphatize with both Snapdragon and Prof. Carraway with just two animatics, without the usage of music. Please make more of this! They are so good!
these made me wish there was more trans representation in cartoons. Gay representation is going great, but there's literally nothing for trans people except for maybe She ra MAYBE Steven Universe but it's not too in depth. Kids could use learning about these things.
Didn't expect my eyes to get a bit moist. Normally in media trans characters at least for me elicit a reaction like: "I guess they also exist." This is probably the first time in media (that I have consumed) that the weight and gravity of such a situation is conveyed to me. I think you really did a great job building a connection with your audience. Btw: How do you call the process of Trans-people coming to terms with their feelings and situation. I know that transitioning is the actual uhm Transformation ? and coming out is the term used for sexuality.
Transmasc here! There isn’t like a scientific term (I think) for coming to terms with the fact that you’re trans, but lots of us call it ‘cracking the egg’ in terms of the ‘egg’ being a trans person who hasn’t realized they’re trans yet
@@jazzz7220 Thx for the explanation! I think the egg metaphor is really cool. I'd assume that the Shell stands for the Body and the yolk and white of the egg for the "gender they really are!? I don't want to speculate but does the phrase "coming out of the closet" in the aforementioned respect also apply for trans people? Sorry for making questions but I now find out that I am severely underinformed.
@@luthient2605 There is a difference after all between knowing and being aware about something. Both of your animatics give so much life to the characters and these scenes that is practically nonexistent in the show. From the facial expressions, to the powerful dialogue, the right dose of humor (Sassy Caraway is not something I thought I wanted to see but now I want it like chocolate), and even the scene composition, and how you shoot the scene from so many different angles, or the little touches like when the lightning struck in the background when Snap was shouting. I knew the show was a slog before, but I never knew how stiff and bland the visuals were before seeing your animatics, and how much passion you put into every frame. I do hope you keep making more of these.
As a cis person who has only heard stories from his friends about them coming out, this has got to be the most emotionally touching way I’ve seen anyone tackle gender dysphoria in any sort of story. It’s not some shoehorned in scene to get brownie points from the queer community, it makes you resonate with this character and what they’re going through, even if you’re just some dumbass cis chucklehead like myself who could never possibly understand that feeling in real life. I’ve never seen the original scene, but I’d rather not anyways because this is just so beautiful. Phenomenal work!
This was so good! With no voice acting and no music you still managed to make me tear up a little. I don't even know the show and still I felt so much sympathy for those characters.
Okay I replayed the “Why would you want to be a boy?!” “The same reason you want to be a girl you little s**t!” and laughed every time more than I like to admit, but overall this entire animatic was really well done! I haven’t watched High Guardian Spice, but your animatics still manage to feel hardwarming despite me knowing the barest of minimum about the characters.
You know what?Saberspark is having a remake of the movie named Joshua and the promised land with wonderful animators and I hope one day that a group of animators can recreate High guardian spice just like saberspark's because apparently there are more talented and imaginative animators like you than the original creators
"How scary it can be to figure out who you are"... That is so powerful. If I had given into that fear so long ago, the me you see right now wouldn't exist. I would never be able to build myself an escape hatch to come down here and speak on behalf of what's important to me. I'd just be trapped, alone in a closed-off, half-formed place of pain and dissatisfaction that nobody deserves to suffer. And I know that what I went through is unique, but I'm able to tell that gender dysphoria inflicts the same underlying emotion. So I want trans people to be who they feel comfortable living as, without anyone invalidating or persecuting them. I just wish the media and other establishmentarian powers-that-be didn't anoint the kinds of people like the ones behind High Guardian Spice as the be-all-end-all crusaders of the battle against that hatred, because they're doing a REALLY shitty job representing the communities they fight for and even go as far as to springboard for the communist racket.
If they actually do that Over a longer time of course cause that's difficult I would personally make 1M extra accounts and bring the views on that vid to 1M
Never even watched the show but I can tell this is better than they could make it. The desperation and tiredness of snapdragon, how understanding caraway was, this is gosh dang beautiful and that’s not even talking about how it’s silent and not colored and stuff.
For someone who has trouble processing emotions sometimes. The fact that this made me cry is amazing and I fucking love you for that! I hope you do great and amazing stuff in future.
What makes this good is that it's relatable. Even though I'm not part of the LGBT, I still felt the sadness and confusion that they're going through and connected with them. Even though each person's problems may be unique to them individually, I can sympathize with the character in this scene. When LGBT scenes were done in the official show, it felt like it insulted the intelligence of anyone watching it straight or otherwise because things happened _just because._
AGAIN! You gave the scene more emotion, better dialogue (that didn't sound like grooming) and you made it feel real even in a fantasy world by using their terms and rules! Seriously! If you ever make a show of your own one day i hope to watch it! You clearly have a better grasp on the struggles of identity crisis then the actual show makers did for High Guardian Spice!
The reaction i would’ve given the original if it was actually good “Damn... I actually feel horrible for snapdragon” All seriousness though, this scene is x100 better than the original and it’s doing what the original couldn’t do, that’s make me feel bad for snapdragon. You could really save this show if you become a writer. You also gave Caraway some personality with the “little shit” piece. The dialogue is more engaging, the characters seem more human, and I could hear the voices as the subtitles read. As I said, you did a fantastic job with this 👍🏻
Although I am not someone who can relate to the struggles of gender dysphoria I felt like I was able to empathise and understand some of it through this redone scene. It's a simple scene but it has some of the emotional storytelling that just isn't very well executed in the show. Accompanied by elements that can be appreciated by both younger and mature audiences. I don't ever really get this from most media about lgbtq+ representation. My only criticism might be that some pieces of dialogue are cut too short to be read all the way through, but otherwise I really enjoyed it!
Dang, this actually made me tear up a bit. I love how emotional the dialogue is, the shots and facial expressions help amplify it even more. Great work!!
"The same reason as you want to be a girl little shit" I loved that part, it killed me 💀 I love your animatics and damn, that was really accurate to the way that i feel ;w;
A single person, no voice acting, no color, 1 fps and so charming. Feels as if I am actually watching somebody have this realization. 100x better than crunchyroll’s 👍🏼
Gosh I started crying so much, I'm not trans but the emotions here were perfectly transmitted, the struggle Snapdragon has probably faced every day against the mirror and identity... Thanks for doing this
"You also want to be a girl?!" I don't know if it was intended, but it made me laugh so hard. I haven't watched the original episode. But this phrase seems to give the scene and the characters some more personality. And the rest of the scene looks pretty good as well. You did a very good job rewriting the scene, keep it up!
Why are your animatics so good oh my god how did the hgs creators get a show instead of you??? Like seriously, I laughed, I cried, this is everything a scene should be
From what i've seen, HGS has so much WASTED potential and missed so many marks. It makes watching all of these 'what if' scenes hurt so much. Because Why couldn't they include something as poignant and heartfelt as this!? Still blows my mind!
Now this was a great read, they should have done something like this because it get the point across rather being forced this just flows easily while giving us more information about the characters.
1:33 damn, that line cut me deep. It brings me to tears that something I’ve said and thought to myself is reflected here, grabbing at my heart and bringing me to tears. I’m still very early into my transition, but I won’t ever be able to return the gratitude at you showing me that I’m not alone and that others have gone through the same thoughts I have.
When I said that I was really hyped for your next works,I wasn't kidding, but I didn't expect this next one to be the second best animatic I've ever seen in my life, the emotion and atmosphere it has are simply majestic and the scene itself is so relatable to me as it is wonderful in a general way,I simply loved it and I can promise to ya that,if ya ever do a full animation about these types of topic or any other stuff in general,I'll be one of the first to watch it surely
That stood out to me too because it's encouraging Snapdragon to take time and explore without repeating the invalidating "but maybe you're just a boy who likes pretty things" phrases that Snapdragon mentioned earlier. Snapdragon might live as a girl without using the same transition magic, and that's an option too. Caraway offers validation without implying that his path is the objective correct path.
Literally was gonna start crying. They should’ve just handed you the job for making these scenes because they are so much more impactful and meaningful than the originals. 😭😭 Both of your rewrites for this were so good, Literally commend you because just wow it was so nice.

OMG THIS WAS SOOOOOO GOOD!!! Like omg, I just saw the original clip yesterday and it came off so cringy and creepy. And to be honest from all those clips, I figured he just wanted to be a femboy without all that judgment. Your rewrite felt so natural and shows clearly that Snap isn't a femboy and professor actually felt like a mentor who has been through similar experiences and is able to relate and help Snap through her breakdown, showing her there are options. Also transformation magic is soooooo much better than transition magic and it being new and experimental is good reason for people to not know about it. I love it! Also today I am getting my first dose of transformation magic! X3

TRUE
Yeah, props to who did this, but I think that Guardian Spices VA's tend to subtract rather than add most of the time.
Exactly this made me cry a little even it was so good
This animatic has more GENUINE emotion, heart and soul in it than most of the actual series.( I haven't finished watching the series so I can't say for sure about the whole series.) It is definitely quite a piece of quality...
yeah
“Why would you want to be a boy?!” “The same reason you want to be a girl you little shit!!!” Yknow how teachers talk to kids? But fr I wish you had made this series, just the love you put into these two scenes makes such a better story. Great work!
This interaction is technically outside of the teacher-student dynamic, since it's outside of the school environment, so the characters have a little more freedom.
Actually, this tracks pretty well with a lot of my professors that I had in college. Some instructors are just way more casual than others.
Considering that one of the professors poisoned their students on the first day, I wouldn't be surprised if this is how they interacted.
I remember one of my English teachers in high school told us about how he recognized a student outside of school. The kid didn't hear him calling his name, so he went, "Hey, you little bitch, get over here!" So I can suspend my disbelief here haha.
To be fair one of my teachers talks to me like that in a jokingly way.
"Why would you want to be a boy?!"
"The same reason as you want to be a girl you little *shit!*"
I swear to god that cracked me up. That little bit of comedy there was refreshing and I loved it.
I love when comedy is used to make heavy scenes hit harder but also puts contrast with the more light hearted stuff
This is how you do comedy
That was my favourite part
It made me feel that in a certain way they were close. I don't know, like they're family and they have an emotional conversation but they certainly say something and it alleviates the issue
Imma go into Swiper Mode for that
It´s so fucking good. Good comedy is when it compliments the story, true ESSENCE is when it reinforces the story´s message
The professor has personality! This is too much power for a mere mortal!
There was no audio and I could FEEL it all, the tension, Snapdragon's sadness, anger, desperation, you're wonderful!

I swear, when I watched HGS and found out about Snapdragon being a trans women, I was not convinced. They wrote him off like he's a femboy and "Therefore he's a trans woman because no men can like feminine things!"
But when I watched this scene that you re-wrote, it felt convincing, in some way, that Snapdragon, is a girl, that she likes these girly things because she's a girl _too._ And you can really feel her frustration in this storyboard about how people would often tell her she's confused and whatnot, that felt real.
That's just my personal opinion tho, which i'm not suppose to share (jk jk)
hi! please don’t use the term “femboy “
it has been used to invalidate and sexualize trans women in the past.
use the term roseboy instead!
@@thenamed1641 wait, actually? Should I refer to myself as a roseboy (I previously used femboy when referring to myself), then? I never heard someone use that term before.
Snapdragon honestly is wasted potential, they could’ve been amazing trans representation (it’s been lacking lately) but no they had to make it suck.
@@yesouioo it all depends on what you're comfortable with! I am a trans Femboy, and I'll never stop calling myself that- a lot of people don't like it because "Femme-boy" is an old insult, but hey!
The fact the whole HGS was even a thing to exist just genuinely pisses me tf off, double standards are the new standard for many a people.
genuine question: what do you mean by _propaganda_ here?
Do you mean that the portrail of LGBT-people is a caricature which one would expect coming from far-right people?
Do you mean some other agenda with is more subtle?
I've seen this comment often and don't know what exacly is meant.
@@keviren6443 One thing is representating a person who is trans in a cartoon and another thing is to make political propaganda, which is used to influence in the viewers so they will cooperate with the political side who makes the propaganda, in this case, to try to make people adapt left side + LGBTQ+ political beliefs.
@@ItsTanuki0_Clock I think I get it now. Thanks
it's killing me to know that this isn't actually in HGS. the amount of love you put into this animatic and the pure feeling of every single beat of this scene was just AMAZING! you did a seriously good job at re-writing this scene, and i'm actually in awe at how well you juggled the serious part of this conversation while also including a bit of humor with the "the same reason you wanna be a girl, you little shit!" line. it's perfect for a show like high guardian spice and just UGHHHH i'm obsessed!
Why wasn't this guy on the team? Because if he was, this show would have been a thousands times better.
The show was shelved for about 3 years and the creators & staff didn't even bother to make revisions.

I really love when snapdragon starts ranting and interrupts Caraway with "NO I DONT!!". Its pure emotion and displays the pure pain of dysphoria he holds in, the original writers could never do that. I really want to hear this voice acted now.
as a trans woman I feel very represented by Snapdragon character it was the one that really get my hopes with this, the scenes of her were the best ones and then I've never expected to see your animatics with her too, in the show she's already a pretty good character (tbh Amarylis and Snapdragon are the backbone of the show)

Honestly, mad respect.

for fun i synched a bunch of UA-cam tabs of thunder, door knocking, and saddass music for a couple seconds, in 5 minutes and in the process making me tear up and it was still better than any high spice episode
wow you single handedly managed to absolutely DUNK on the HGS writing team with just two short very well done animatics in every conceivable way.
*I started to have tears jerk out of my eyes when Snapdragon started saying one line of denial after the other. Most of what you had them say struck so similarly with what I would think to myself when I was still heavily contemplating my own gender identity. You once again did what HGS couldn't and I applaud you!* 💕💕
However if I were to give a brief critique I think it would be better if the characters said "Think of yourself as a girl" and "Was born female" instead of "Want to be a girl" and "Was born a girl".

I've never watched the original but this actually mesmerized me. halfway through the video my brain was filling in the voices, the sounds, the music. this was very well done!!
Ngl I almost cried halfway through.
Snapdragon is my favorite character after having watched a few clips
I honestly think that them just being a femboy would have been more fitting, even more considering the lack of boys around the main cast, and it would've been a point for Sage to not be sexist, since they get along. But you made this scene so emotional, that them being trans seems less like pandering and more like another feature of the character's life, well done
Is too bad is not like that in the actual show
I’m not gonna lie I started watching the show because of Snapdragon (and Slime Boy)
it shows that this character is in pain. it was done in a way that everyone, to some extent, could relate to. that's what makes dysphoria something you _can_ understand on a more deep, personal level.
i have body dysmorphia. sometimes i stare in the mirror and cry because i see someone that no one else does, and when i'm told nothing is wrong, i almost feel insulted. like, i see what's in the mirror, why are you telling me nothing's wrong? why are they lying about me, telling me i'm not fat?
it might not be dysphoria, but my dysmorphia is why i understand how painful dysphoria must be. just looking in a mirror hurts on an almost physical level.
Oof
I like how this roasts the original writing with such subtlety.

Thank you so much!!

I'd just be trapped, alone in a closed-off, half-formed place of pain and dissatisfaction that nobody deserves to suffer. And I know that what I went through is unique, but I'm able to tell that gender dysphoria inflicts the same underlying emotion.

All seriousness though, this scene is x100 better than the original and it’s doing what the original couldn’t do, that’s make me feel bad for snapdragon. You could really save this show if you become a writer. You also gave Caraway some personality with the “little shit” piece. The dialogue is more engaging, the characters seem more human, and I could hear the voices as the subtitles read. As I said, you did a fantastic job with this 👍🏻
Lol “Same reason you want to be a girl, you little sh**!” I had a trans friend once and could absolutely see them reacting like that.

Snapdragon might live as a girl without using the same transition magic, and that's an option too. Caraway offers validation without implying that his path is the objective correct path.
i like how this show is able to bring out both talented artists and writers alike
That “NO I DONT” and the lighting strike- I felt that in my *soul*
Literally was gonna start crying. They should’ve just handed you the job for making these scenes because they are so much more impactful and meaningful than the originals. 😭😭 Both of your rewrites for this were so good, Literally commend you because just wow it was so nice.
the way i GENUINELY flinched at 1:43 even though there was NO AUDIO…. jesus thats good storytelling and writing!!!! gosh… snapdragon snapping at that moment felt so REAL- this whole scene did! i applaud you for doing this so well!!
While I watched this, I almost cried. It was so sweet and so well done, and you put life and genuine emotion into these characters that are so flat and 2D in the original.
Love the work, keep it up!!
ive never watched this show and now im sad that this isn't the actual show because shit, I'd binge it in a heartbeat.
This actually brought me to tears. It was so so relatable it’s like I could see myself in snapdragon. I love what you’re doing to these scenes, bringing them to life and showing what would actually be said in these scenes. Idk I just really enjoyed it. Thank you
OMG THIS WAS SOOOOOO GOOD!!!
How exciting! Good luck!! :D
YOU SHOULD HAVE BEEN A WRITER NO ONE CAN AGRUE AGAINST THAT
As a trans woman myself, this really resonated with me!
ff both animatics breathed so much more character and life in the dialogue and the art style is absolutely gorgeous, thank you for your hard work
Yo you wrote this so good that I nearly cried man. Their show could have never done that for me. You did amazing
You actually got me to care about Professor Caraway by giving him traits outside of "Teacher" and "Trans"
This has way more effort and love put into it than the show this video is based on.
I love the emotion here!
holy shit you even did the hair ruffling thing. You're not just making the show better, but actually have more of an anime aesthetic
This is a very real thing we all go through. You're not alone, and you're valid in every way. Stay strong
I don’t usually cry at movies or series but this almost got me, I’ll be honest. You can feel the emotions so clearly! Props to you!
I cried, I had tears running down my face, this proves that these animatics are well written
This character writing can open my heart.
Ahhh... I could wish i could start writing something.
That feels like a real characters in a reality.
This is so sweet. It's got the emotional impact with a few funny one-liners that make me laugh between the feels and tears. It's the type of scene I'd watch over and over again, honestly. You did good!
