- The Blazer Remus 1.5x Anamorphic lenses are some of the best budget anamorphic lenses on the market today! I haven't had extensive time testing these lenses but after only one shoot I can already tell that they will be in my kit for a while!
If you have any questions, feel free to comment them down below!

Have em, love em. This are literally 1/10th the price of the Mercury lenses, and offer similar build and image. It’s a no brainer. Enjoy!
I agree!
The 1.8x have their place though!
@@AnthonyRodriguezzthe Mercurys are 1.5x as well.
I agree that they Are Not a tenth as good as the mercuries but saying that they Are Similar Build and Image is just so far from the truth mate. I do agree they Are absolutely worth though for the Price!
@johannm7794 have you used both?
You need to rent both and then come back here and post your findings. I’ll stand by my previous comment. And FYI: I had a set of Mercury Atlas lenses on preorder for over a year. I’ve personally met with the folks at Atlas. There’s nothing between the Mercury lenses and the Blazar lenses... And definitely nothing worth 10x the price.
would love to see that behind the scene stuff. Especially the Ronin 4d and the Lumix with the Blazar Remus
It’s coming ;)
It’s incredible to me how affordable these lenses are. Thanks for sharing!
Yeah… it blows my mind tbh
I dig this content man good to see some more about these lenses 👏
Thanks brother!
This maybe the best wide open shots I’ve seen from these lenses. Not as soft as much of the footage examples I have looked at. Did you shim? Waiting on mine. Great job on this video.
Thanks man!
I didn’t shim them
Great video - also totaly agree still love the GreatJoys!
Thanks brother!
Loved your videos on them as well 🙌🏼
ah yes behind the scenes would be amazing, thank you. your film is looking great also, it's no small thing to manage camera and focus, nevermind the rest of the things you juggle lol
I did WAY too much on this one 😅 the BTS is coming soon!
Great review and the footage looks awesome!
2 questions - what PL adapter do you recommend?
Any tips on how to desqueeze with a 16x9 sensor? Do you remember how much you desqueeze/scale in? I’m new to anamorphic glass. Thanks man!
Will be linking the adapters I use later today!
A couple people are asking
Regarding the desqueezed, davinci has a 1.5x stretch option in “clip attributes” and a preset in the timeline settings
The T2 is really tempting. I have a 2 sirui 1.6 and I don't mind the 1.5 if it means less lights
These look incredibly different than the 1.6x
You’ll be gaining more than you’re losing.
once the 33mm is out I'm buying the whole set
I'm curious what they look like on APS-C sensor. I've been looking for anyone trying that out. I love the size of them.
They’d basically looking the same!
Without all the crazy edges.
Not sure if they’re wide enough though for apsc
Awesome Vid bro
Thanks bro!
Agreed, I don't see the point to spending money on lenses to get a specific soft look when that automatically locks your raw video into that softness as a starting point.
Don’t disagree with you here.
These lenses should not be purchase because they are soft.
Regarding buying lenses because they are somewhat soft, that is something that will only be understood when you’ve used lenses like that for a project that demands it
Awesome review! Where can we watch the short film?
Not out yet!! It’s coming soon
Did you by any chance upload the short film shot on the remus?
Not finished yet!
Client work took over and it’s been pushed back quite a bit
If you shoot 3:2 on these, can you have that anamorphic look without crop lines on the top and bottom, I’m confused on how that works? Great video btw!
You’ll still have some black bars. You would need to crop a little to get rid of them
you used them with a L-mount adapter?, can you link me the adapter, thank you a lot friend
I’ll have to find the one I used!
I’m definitely picking up a set of these!
Using your affiliates ;)
Is b&h the quickest option rn to receive them?
From what I’ve heard, getting them from b&h is currently the quickest option!
Crazy how the algorithm brought this video to me. First video I saw of yours was u sh1ting on the 1.5x when testing the 1.8x.
Your test vid and the talking head looks good. Love mine. Shoot with them most of the time.
Thanks man!
Haha never crapped on the 1.5x but yeah I still the 1.8x have such a spot in the market!
What mattebox was you using with the lens
Tilta mirage
what kinda work are u using anamorphic lenses like the joy ?
I don’t use those anymore
How does optical quality compare to the Aivascope?
Haven’t compared the two side by side but I would say the aiva edges it out.
I would take with a grain of salt though
what do you think about the new 35mm? i need something for like mid range (close up and upper body one person shots). which one should i get if i can only afford one of those 4 (3 of the set and the new 35mm)?
I would narrow it down to the 45 & 65mm
Leaning more towards the 65
thanks, i wish there would be more vids to see how much the 65mm can be close up, but it seems the right choice, 100mm would probably be not as much of variable useable except a lot of close up
another question, would it make sense to buy the lense for my zv e-10 or would i need a new camera for it to be usable? im not moving too much for the short film planned.
Do you recomend buy separately 45mm and 65mm and avoid the 100mm?
I do not, no
Im really hesitant on whether I should get these or not for my lumix s5ii. I like that they shoot 3:2 while the great joy doesnt. Great joy is also more than double the price, frustrating trying to decide what I should purchase.
I have a great joy 50mm that I’ve used 3 times if you want to make an offer?
Honestly, what I shared at the end. If it’s going to be used for client work I’d stick with the 1.8x.
I’m actually selling a full set because I didn’t really need them for client work.
Also, regarding the 3:2. I’ve never actually had that interfere when I shot, except with the 35mm
@@AnthonyRodriguezz are you sure ur product wasn't shimmed properly. I've heard they're pretty sharp at 2.8 if properly shimmed for your camera
@@FullFrameStudio it’s decently sharp but not enough for client work imo.
@@AnthonyRodriguezz Still selling? Where are you located?
So 45 and 60 are sharp enough at 2.8?
Imo, yes
Even at f2 if you don’t mind sharpening a little at 2.8
Would you take these over the GreaJoys?
Edit: Okay, wrote thos seconds before you mentioned them 😂 But still, I'm curious what you'd personally choose.
Hmmm for me personally I’m keeping the Remus because I haven’t used anamorphics for client work and they’re cheaper. If money and size wasn’t a concern I’d definitely choose the 1.8x
Great review, you can't get anamorphics with barrel distortion and characteristics for this cheap. However, you've put too much emphasis on how soft these lenses are wide open. I keep hearing the same from many others. I don't think anamorphic lenses are meant to be used wide open most scenarios. Of course it comes down to creative choices but also almost in most cases at wide open it is too shallow and there is not story , no drama on the background. I've heard and read Hollywood DPs have shot films at f6 and f8 on anamorphic lenses to allow depth on the background. Ordered my set two days ago and most definitely not shooting wide open with these.
It’s one of its only quirks, hence why I harped on it.
But idk if I agree with that statement fully though. I do see where you’re coming from
what was your order number? like BL####, just wondering when im gonna receive mine!
Mine might not be the best metric because the expedited it early specifically for this film because it was going on UA-cam.
I did buy them with my own money though! #1866
@@AnthonyRodriguezz oh i see, thanks anyway! im 2080 i hope it comes sooner than later haha
Ok, fine! I'll subscribe
Hahaha! Welcome to
Did you shim them
Not yet!
I talk about that towards the end
I talked to them and they said they should be pretty well shimmed from factory. Not sure if they updated that or whatever but when I went and picked up my 65 they said I wouldn’t need to shim it most likely.
When you use the phase "the images are usable" this makes you think that the footage that this lens deliver is noy good, Is just barely good to not thow it the garbage, and can use. This is not fine at all if the intention is talk good about this lenses.
I’m picky and shoot larger projects that have money behind them, so “usable” means a lot.
@@AnthonyRodriguezz Wow
Wow what?
This is what I meant when I said “usable”
Shut up before they Jack the price up
They won’t 😉
I am super interested in these lenses! What is my recommendation to purchase first? I think I only have enough for one🫠
The 45 or 65
