Desperate Homeless Situation In Bournemouth 🇬🇧

  • Andy Talbot, founder and operator of Bournemouth charity We Are Humans, invited me back to the town to show me more of the amazing work he and his team of loyal volunteers do to help the homeless and hungry. He wanted me to showcase the desperate struggle that many people in Bournemouth face, and he also wished to highlight on camera some of the systemic failures he believes are inhibiting the homeless in their attempts to improve their situation. He introduced me to many of his homeless friends in the community as his organisation offered free meals at their pop-up soup kitchen. I was also delighted to chat to several former homeless people who now volunteer for We Are Humans after they have been supported by the charity and themselves housed. I then met a couple who were in a desperate situation. An amputee husband and his wife who were facing a return to the streets the very next day as their temporary hotel accommodation expired. I decided to help as best I could.

Many years ago I was homeless in Reading, Berkshire, one day I decided to be homeless somewhere "nice" . I only had enough train fare to get to Bournemouth. I got the first train and got to Bournemouth around 7am. It was such a beautiful morning as I sat on the peir wondering why I hadn't do this earlier. At 9am I went to the job centre and got a interview for a cook in a cafe later that day. I was offered the job and started the same day, I spent two weeks sleeping under the pier. Then I got enough for a flat I found through a work colleague. I had the best summer ever that year. There were nobody to help me back in the day, I now have my own house and have been in work for over 20 years.

I do go to Bournemouth and Boscombe a fair bit, it's only the 2 theatres and university that keep the town going. Hotels are closed to the public apart from a handful, Trouvulle closed last. This is because the police were after managment, due to thefts in hotel rooms and health and safety with a joke there.
Where 2 homeless couple were near the garden, it's very dodgy at night even the locals prefer to go home by taxis than walk through the gardens. If people do go down to Bournemouth for the day they normally get another bus for Christchurch and have day out there, despite having not much there. Worst thing that happened to Bournemouth is that all 3 seperate councils merged in to one. Rich man David Wells bought all lot of houses (Help with public money) and turned them all in to crime and drug ridden bedsits.

In my area, there was a homeless guy who was also an ex veteran. We had many conversations about life in general and how dire the system actually is and the fact that it's specifically devised to fail people. Just after Christmas that's just gone (2023), I had some spare money that I'd been given as a gift for Christmas. I didn't need the money so I gave it to this ex veteran. I used to buy him drinks and food whenever I was in the vicinity. I'd not seen him for a few days so I asked a couple of other homeless guys who I help if they'd seen Stewart. They told me that he's left the area because he has no chance of being offered any help or assistance. I really hope that he gets sorted. To think that he fought for the Country to be left in the position he's been left in by Govt is beyond disgusting. I was so pleased to hear that he'd left the area. What also gave me comfort was the fact that through people's donations/generosity is the fact that it's has helped to get him away from the area so that he can get back on his feet. I wish I'd have got the chance to wish him good luck before he left. I miss him and the chats we used to have. He's such a lovely guy.

I have autism and Ive been homeless several times in Bournemouth, and in every instance the council's housing team acted illegally, ignoring my legal rights to dismiss me. I had to get solicitors and Shelter involved numerous times. I've had my local MP involved, and even gone to the Ombudsman. Even now the council have failed to provide me with a decision on a main housing duty - neatly 3 months past their legal deadline! They all need sacking and replacing. BCP council is so corrupt and immoral. They need a radical change.

I do go to Bournemouth and Boscombe a fair bit, it's only the 2 theatres and university that keep the town going. Hotels are closed to the public apart from a handful Hotels in Bournemouth are mainly for the thousands of illegals with no paperwork, they treat the hotels like a doss house.
Trouvulle closed last.
Rich man, David Wells, bought all lot of houses (Help with public money) and turned them all in to crime and drug ridden bedsits.
Vikki Slade, cares more about pandering to students and woke miniorites groups than facing real people with real problems. She liked a post social media that promoted death and violence towards TERF's.

I used to volunteer in one, corrupt is an understatment. Things get chucked or get sent to ebay or World of Books. Good stuff goes to the staff at a low price, rubbish goes on to the shop floor. Manager's do the pricing for the staff holds or a crafty volunteer will lower prices on purpose., hoping they can get away with it Old clothes go to a rag man which the charity get about 50p per bag. Regional/Area managers are on very decent pay.

Well done guys for helping these people , they have been dealt a cruel hand in life and deserve all the help they can get.
Going back eight years or so I was lucky enough to get down to Bournemouth for a couple of days a month in the summer months and was surprised to see so many homeless people on the streets. I got into the habit of buying some cheap sandwiches and pies from the Tesco in the square and handing them out to a few people that were homeless. They were always very grateful. I didn't want to force them onto people so I asked if they could make use of some food when I approached them , I don't think anyone ever refused. These people need help and it looks like this organisation is doing a great job , those pods look like a brilliant idea. I usually donate to the salvation army at Christmas but my donation will go to we are humans this year. Keep up the great work guys , well done.

I live near Bournemouth and Andy is right. There are lot of people and businesses making a lot of money out of homeless people. Large properties are being bought by business people and turned into houses of multiple occupation and homeless peole charged a fortune to stay in them. Its a cash cow. BCP council are bankrupt due to mismanagement and even Bournemouth civic centre is manned by the Citizens Advice as all the council staff are still working from home! Its a bloody joke!!! There are thousands of asylum seekers staying in top class hotels permanently and our own British people are treated like rubbish. These asylum seekers are also dealing drugs. Councillor Vicki Slade has an awful lot to answer for. When confronted about the working from home she replied that it was
' none of my business' . The old Poole Civic centre has now stood empty for years due to WFH and could be converted at least into a night shelter or temporary accomodation for these poor people. The council have spent all their money on bloody cycle lanes, white elephant eco centres by the beach and electric bikes and scooters. BCP and its councillors are a sodding joke, only interested in lining their own pockets. The lot of them should be sacked and the public put in charge. The last head of the council resigned because of financial mismanagement. Check it out.

Andy is dealing with this failure, but he is surviving off welfare to do so and is providing a service. If the UK was a business, it would be in administration, the bailiffs would here seizing the assets and there would be no zero help for the homeless or benefits Andy. There is no reinvestment into the town, the high streets are full of empty shop units, everywhere you look, there is dirt and grime, there isn't enough jobs going around for regular folk, as every high street business here fails. there is a real drug issue in Bournemouth that i feel wasn't bought to light in this video, especially synthetic spice & coke, which of course doesn't help the people in these situations
