you forgot to mention when filling the radiator with coolant to crack the bleeder valve on top of the thermostat. fill radiator until coolant starts flowing from the bleeder valve and then tighten the bleeder valve and top off radiator. then fill the plastic coolant tank to proper level.
It's to save the belt from coolant damage. Coolant can cause the belt to squeak. If you don't take the belt off then you'll want to hose off the belt real good before starting it up.
@Valley Mobile Automotive been a diesel and heavy equipment tech for 12 years and that one is the 1st for me! At least maybe without taking the belt off adding time to the job to just spray off the leaked out coolant, I did jump ahead some so if you did mention that great and keep on making sweet and to the point vids! Work an hour away so I use simple video like this to know what tools to bring home lol
@Eric Cutrer but you and him still fail to understand that coolant on a belt does not mean its going to ruin it, as I said, I'm in the industry and it's totally fine! Does nothing to weaken the belt or cause any issues what so ever! Lol
Old Gasket?? Is it just older vehicles needing old gaskets scraped off or wire wheel and replaced? I'm not a real mechanic, am I thinking of something else?
These use rubber gaskets. There shouldn't be any old gasket left behind. If it has been leaking for a while you may have some crusty coolant you can scrape off with a plastic scraper but don't use anything that will scratch the mating surface. The older paper gaskets would stick to the surface and you had to scrape off what was left but not on these, which is nice 👍
It helped me a lot thank you for sharing
Thanks for the post. It definately made the replacement easier. This also works for a VW Routan. It's just a rebranded Town and Country.

Thanks Charles. I'm just getting ready to change the thermostat on my wife's van and hadn't seen this on any other videos either.
I love repair videos that start with "I already did this so I'm not going to do it again"
WHY DO YOU THINK WE ARE WATCHING YOUR VIDEO?!?!
Helped me too! Great video!!
If you move the air filter housing out of the way it gives you even more room.
Failing to understand why the belt was removed.....but other then that great video!

As he said at the beginning he didn't want coolant getting on the belt.

Hose goes up against those bumps not over them

How long does that take? 45min-1hr
I would say 45min is a good time. Depending on your tools and skill set you can get it done faster 👍
Why did you take the serpentine belt off
If coolant gets on the belt it can ruin it and cause it to squeak. You might be able to rinse it off and be ok but it's just a precaution.

To much work just rinse everything off with water .This way he can charge the customer more money
