I was put up for adoption by my mother in the1960s. Later we were reunited. She was a wonderful person. It turns out that she was having a lot of problems at the time I was born. She wanted me to have a better life. I loved her very much. She passed away four years ago. I'm so glad I got to know her. I miss her.
The moment he found out she was visiting the agency through out the years was the moment I teared up ❤️❤️❤️
Lynnsy San yes because adoption is legalized kidnapping.
It would make a wonderful movie
i wish we could see a part when he and his mother united or a recent pic of them
@@xrpxtrariceplease2811 I know I was thinking that. I respect his and his birth mom's privacy. Great story though. Great family, great people.
@@rebeccahatfield405 what?
I was adopted from seoul through holt as well. This gives me hope that i may be able to find my birth parents.
Hope you fulfill what you seek .
Good luck, thasilkyone. May God guide you & give you the best past, present, & future. Not just the best for you but also for the important people related with & surrounding you; your "village". 🙋👍❤
May it be so!
I’m want to adopt a child .. but feel nervous will they always want birthmom ? It’s understandable. I just want to do the right thing.

A child borns in this world through the womb of one's biological mother. An adopted child however borns in this world through the loving heart of one's adopted mother & /or father.
By the love of God n His Grace, as parents (real, adoptive, foster, or surrogate) they will do anything even die for their children for parents's love is limitless. There will come a right time for the child when grows up wanting to find his/her biological parents. That is human nature. To complete a vacuum in the child's heart n mind. Not because of any lack of love, attention, n life the adoptive parent(s) has provided the child throughout his/her life. It's just time. Love will make adoptive parents do anything to make their adoptive children happy. Because the children were born from their hearts respectively.
What a precious young man = his folks raised him well.
Cricket Smith He works in a bar. Why didn’t he get a decent education?
@@williamwinsor6393 He didn't speak Korean..how did he work in bar
@@peterlipman8211 I think he works for a bar in Itaewon where there're lots of foreigners which means he doesn't have to speak much of Korean there.
@William Winsor Having a decent education doesn't always lead to a decent job. Plus, you have to concern his circumstances.
Yes beautiful host family :)
@@williamwinsor6393 He lives in a foreign country. Where is he supposed to find a well-paying job? He doesn't even speak the language. If you went to Korea, what kind of job could you get?
My son was adopted from South Korea and I would love to find his Korean family!!
Beautiful Story!😘
I feel sad for his korean mom. she had to give him away but for all these years she tried to check up on him in the only way she knew how. I am glad that he was adopted by such excellent people and she can be happy that her son was lucky enough to be raised by them.
Yes!
She was probably forced to it.
Your adopted family, God bless them! Have taught you well! You’re a wonderful young man!
HAVE YOU MET YOUR BIRTH MOTHER AGAIN?
I like that he used the words extended family instead of second family or even biological to describe them. It seems like they are all his family - the parents who raised him and the mother who unselfishly gave him up for a better life. His adoptive family raised him with such love that he had grew up with great self esteem and full of love. Great parents, great son!
What a well grounded caring wise young man, and well done to his parents in NJ.
I get all parts of this story. I adopted a 4-year-old boy from Korea in 1988. Currently he says that he's not interested in going to Korea or communicating with Holt. 'Just always supported wherever he is with this. The pictures of Doug as a little one brought me nearly to tears; such memories of my own of a beautiful little boy! He's 36 now and is still a delight. He has a wonderful sense of humor and lives nearby; I am blessed.
Amazing young man. He’s so blessed being raised by such a loving family. Speaks volumes about who raised him!
So glad to see your story. I also came from the Holt adoption agency in 1961 and would love to find my mom/family. Your story is inspirational to me. Thank you for sharing.
Any luck yet?
My sister also, Korea and Holt agency......wish we could find relatives for her
Did you email or write to Holt ?
just pray. God helped me find and meet my biological mother and father.
did u find after these 3 years ?
This young man is wise beyond his years. His adoptive family has given him great values about what is important in live. Loved this video. Thank you for sharing.
A good story, but the title is clickbait and missing the reuniting footage. Not subscribing.
the title is misleading, but i'm still glad that i watched it. he's fortunate to have good adoptive parents since some of us are not that fortunate.
I can TOTALLy relate to your story mate being adopted by an Aussie family at 6 weeks, the only Asian in my community until17 yo in the Outback......culture and heritage is something that can never be quelched as the OZ movie LION depicts...hope your story can be an inspiration to many as it has been to me, International adoptions are needed in this world with countless millions of at risk neglected kids who need a loving home such that you and I were given
The outback? damn
Curt Murray huge hug.
yes and both domestic and international adoption costs need to be significantly lowered and let single people and others adopt.
I love the story. Such wise adoptive parents with beautiful guidance for their son's life. Thank you for sharing.
I like the guy, and wish him all the happiness in the world, but wanted to see his MOM! Live, not just the old photo.
B.J. Palmer yes his “O-ma”! Where is she?
Perhaps she was shy to be put on camera. He did show a pic of her when she was younger. He was being respectful of her privacy.
I feel the same way; where is she????
I am happy for this young man. I wish him and his loved ones the best.
What a wonderful person? Credits to the adopted family who instilled those human values in him. Yes everybody needs somebody to be where we are today.
some people who have been raised with good values (which is "good" is subjective and "values" is subjective), have not turned out to be such good people and some people who have been raised by one or more bad parents (with or without "good values") turn out to be good people.
What a decent and caring person Doug is, how heartwarming. Thank you for sharing your story Doug, may you and your family's loving bond grow deeper, all blessings to you.
Love this young man and love his family for bringing him up this way.
We are adoptive parents of a Korean son. Your story brought up many of the same memories
Watching this I couldn't help but see a beautiful human! Your parents raised a well-spoken and compassionate man. Very moving piece. Thank you for sharing!
Such a sweet story. You can tell this young man was raised well. ❤️
It’s in clarity to see the wonderful job your parents have done with you, you seem to be a well grounded and caring person good for you! Thank you for sharing such a warming story.
I LOVE this video! What a beautiful story and such a very impressive young man. He has expanded his family and circle of love. How incredible!
I am from South Jersey, and from the same path of life. It would be great to meet this Doug in person, as I've always wanted to do the same thing. Holt sent me here as well =)
entitled americunts buying foreign children left and right.
Dandylyon. Now aren't you the sour puss. My goodness bring some light, kindness, positivity and love into your life. Your attitude, unless changed, will only keep evolving deeper into darkness and negativity. Such crude words.
WHAT A BLESSING you have in your Moms...so much LOVE and RESPECT you are bringing to each of them...you restore my faith in humanity!!! MANY blessings!!! ALL THE BEST!!!
Our daughter was born in Pusan in May 1982 - We hope to find her birth mom!!
I guess u mean busan
I'm so happy he had a good upbringing in a good American family but I would never want to know anything about my birth parents nor want to find them
@@janetsabers4965 really??? Nothing about them or medical history nothing
@@itscararmerias825 it is called pusan in korean.
@@janetsabers4965 this makes me super curious. If you don't mind me asking, does that mean things like heritage/culture/ethnicity/medical history don't matter to you? I mean no disrespect, just curious, because I was raised in a family where culture and knowing where you're from is of high importance. So it's interesting to me to see others who don't treat it in the same way.
Thank God for his adoptive family and the love and support given to this young man! Bravo to this multi-blended family. But, there is NOTHING better than begin around people who "look and can relate completely with you". I'm happy that he returned to Korea. Good Luck sweetheart.
your lucky you have a loving stable childhood and family.
Precious LIFE, PRECIOUS person. Hugs from the U.S.❤️❣️💖😍😘
God really blessed this man in his adoptive family.
I have taught my children the same thing - family is the most important thing. Both of my children are adopted - my daughter is an open adoption (because family is important), and the other is the youngest son of my youngest brother. Both have been a huge blessing to me and about ready to leave the nest. I will miss the season of raising them, but I know they will be healthy and wholesome adults who will value family.
A wise and thoughtful young man.
This young man is terrific. He articulates well. His thought process is commendable.
What a fine young man. Your mother and father did a great job. They must be very proud of you.
Maybe I missed something. It never shows him reuniting with his birth mother and doing something amazing.
Yeah, maybe they wanted to keep it personal? I wondered myself but however they did it was best for them.
Not only does it not show it. It doesn't even describe it. It's not just off screen, it's off page. He skipped right over the climax of the story and went straight to the resolution. That's not how stories work. Maybe that was the "something amazing". He invented a new horrible method of storytelling.
@@zardox78 I wouldn't blame it on his storytelling; he's just sharing his experience. Your frustration stems from the clickbait title of this video, given by the media company that owns this YT channel. It's misleading.
Lee,
Your family is beautiful, and they did a fine job raising you!
Hello Doug.... although we would long to hear the rest of the story, I am thankful to have heard you speak. I like the poetic way you expressed the family relationship as an unspoken contract. This has been an inspiring story. May God bless you always.
Victoria
It takes strength and a huge heart to see so much so young be proud your adopted parents did such a great job with you
A little confusing. Not reunited yet?
I agree. There's a lot missing here.
They didn't document the reunion on video but what he says shows that they have met and are building a relationship.
I thought it was just me.
I agree too. So he never met his mom?
@@julietfoster6388 Yes, he did. His grandmother, too. That is why he is there working odd jobs. They edited a bit too much of the documentary at that part of the story.
Those are wonderful ppl that told him great things about his mom
'Good lives takes a lot of maintenance ', what an amazing quote
What an incredible journey for you! You have a wonderful, adult look to life. Kudos to you! Your parents, it sounds like, did a wonderful parenting job explaining life , loving and caring for you!
He is a very very lucky and blessed man....many times adoptees have sad stories. Very positive person he grew up to be....good parental job
Wonderful story. I'd like a part 2 to see how things are going. Thank you for the story.

You sound like a genuinely nice person and I wish you and yours all the best!
What a beautiful story. Thank you for sharing. It definitely makes me want to adopt when my life is ready.
Thanks for the heart warming story. Life is not just about me but about reaching others and sharing love and compassion.
You can tell that he had great parents by his outlook in life.
I guess I was disappointed not to see even a tiny look at his mom . He seems like he has his head and heart right . I'm glad for him/adopted family + his birth mom . GOD bless !
Really good attitude, the more the merrier, its all good blessings, and we are all God's children anyway. Prayers and goodness to you.

길러주신 이태리가족 너무나 고맙구요. 두가족 틈에서 행복을 많이 만끽하세요!
I can only pray adoptive parents care and love their children like this..."your mom loved you soooooo much, she brought you here.." he did not feel unloved or uncared for. His world was only made bigger when he found his birth mother. He had love and connection. It's a fullness adopted children need.
You had a great adopted family and you are a GREAT man.
I have so much respect for how you see family and your responsibility towards your ouma. You are an amazing person
Everyone should know who their parents are, deserve to have a picture, know where they live. Cause the kid didnt choose this
I loved listening to his story. A lot of love and wisdom and quite a bit of happy unexpected fate (wandering in aimless exploration he happens to find himself standing in front of the adoption agency?!). PS: what a handsome guy!
Your adoptive parents gave you a strong home base in your heart.
would love to see more on how the meeting went. this was a lovely film to watch.
Waoooo he just closed his eyes and boom found the agency ❤️❤️❤️ I always believe good has his ways of letting us go back to our beginnings...
I love this story , I’ve been sponsoring Holt children for 2 years , stories like this make me feel amazing.
"the family is the most important preference above all" ... He is more than awesome!
What a thoughtful, well spoken young man!
He didn't even DESCRIBE reuniting with his mother, let alone showing it in this video.
You're absolutely right! What a sham and a disappointment. His adoptive family seems super nice, though. They deserve a lot of praise.
He might have. There is a part that seems over edited. They may have cut it out. Since he moved there and is working odd jobs to stay there to get to know them, it must be going well. I still liked the video, though. Maybe his biological family didn't want to be on camera.
I'm surprised that you would assume it was his choice to not put her in the video. Often older women in Asian cultures don't want to put their faces on the video. He did show a photograph of her several times throughout the video... As far as not wanting to find/reunite with his birth mother, there are many adoptees who don't. That's nothing new or negative. It shows that he was loved and cared for by his adoptive family, which is beautiful. I'm glad that I have a much more positive and less judgmental experience of this video than you, because I needed my spirits lifted today, and this video did just that.
tedmccarron: Maybe his birth-mother and grandmother didn't want to become world-famous through UA-cam. You can't blame them for that.
Nice man, well raised by his adoptive family.
I love this video and the heart of this young man.
I get the feeling of "hay what happen, missing the best part" He explained first the history of his adopted family, so articulate that my heart was breaking for how he was expressing in best words without over emotional so I could feel it.
I was able to feel the birth mothers heartbreak with the dynamics of his new parents and new siblings. His new parents even instilled the importance of his birth mother with the understanding by example of the need of good people to help you to also be good.
I enjoyed him showing and explaining each part that lead him to Korea even the agency that processes adoptions.
Ending of his father in Korea, wait for part two, three, four however many but, it does seem to be at least a part two, relax and hope their is another (cost time?).
Wonderful adoptive family to support his. Self image. And the value of birth mother
What an awesome story and an awesome young man. Very wise for one so young. He was raised by some insightful and loving parents. I am glad he was able to extend his family.
I hope he has realized by now that any "menial" job is a respectable job as long as you do it the best you can and with a joyful heart. I was hospitalized and was far from home but there was a lady in housekeeping who would come in everyday to clean, she was a joyful person and would greet me with a hello and a smile that would lift my spirits. I doubt that lady knew how much she affected me but I still remember her and think of her often. I hope she has been blessed in return for her raising the spirits of others.
You are so lucky to be able to attest to the pleasure of a well functioning family. I can only dream so thanks for sharing.
You're a smart dude good quality. You're adoptive parents are kind and good people but it's always good to know where you come from. PS fellow SJ here good luck with you're future
The accidental part, is he never meant to look for his birth Mom but during his random subway trips in his Korea visit, he accidentally saw the adoption agency which he knows is the one he came from. And so he walked in and inquired. His birth Mom apparently also comes by every now and then to inquire if her son she put up for adoption came by at all. And he did. They didn’t show any pic of their meeting tho.
😁👍 But I am glad they were able to reunite. ❤️
thank you for sharing, so wonderful that the family took you and gave you an opportunity to love them. And then magic happened that you saw your birth mother (i think)...amazing insights, yes, family is everything and it leads to so much growth
Yin Yang The I think is right on ⚙️
This is an amazing story. He was raised really well by his American adoptive family.
This was a very nice story. Just by chance he found the Adoption Agency who handled his adoption. Have to say I was a little disappointed there was no reunion.
You are such a joy of positivity. I know both of your mothers/family are very proud of you.
I love that the company making this -- "A Plus" -- is dedicated to the idea of sharing good stories, "positive journalism". All we usually get is stories of horror and disaster: shootings, terrorism, horrible destructive accidents, etc. I've always longed for a place where we could share stories that are uplifting, that enrich the spirit, cheer the heart, etc. -- using the web to draw us closer and make us honor and cherish each other's humanity. Thank you, A Plus.
You turned out well. I’m sure everyone is proud of you.
Doug, I noticed something about you during this telling of your story which is wonderful in and of itself. You have a "Natural" GIFT from GOD for being a Story Teller. You should pursue that in writing or acting etc. May GOD keep and Bless you and yours.
This young was loved ... very positive outlook.. 👍
This story makes my heart happy.
Love this guy and how he is orientated to family!
Adoption is still very taboo in Korea, it is not a surprise at all that his biological mother and grandmother would not want their faces aired! Those who don't understand this, its cultural implications and are whining about the video not showing the reunification are asshats! Sometimes a video is made to process emotions, not for the gratification of strangers!
I'm Korean and I dont understand why they are hiding behind the lenses
@@MissTalmo The Korean society is known for being pretty judgmental. And it also sounds like he was born out of wedlock so they probably don't want to face the social stigma of having their faces revealed.
@@ohia_lehua wow mom/dad was a 'badass'
Dude - there was a whole series about people looking for their parents a while ago. Not sure of the title or if it’s still showing. Korea has been talking about it for a while.
*PLEASE REPOST THIS ON TOP. VERY IMPORTANT* THANK YOU!!
These are true parents. One giving the child up so he could have a life and the adoptive...which I chose to call the parents too...which have clearly raised this young man with love and the purest intentions of a parent.
I'm disappointed we didn't see or find out more about his mother. He basically just tells us he found her. He seems like a neat guy, but it was a lot of talk and we didn't end up knowing more than when it began. Why did she abandon him? How did they feel when reunited? Weren't there pictures of the family together? Did she visit him in America? What change has this made in his life? How did they arrange the reunion?
His adoptive family seems amazing! Especially pictures of his dad -- the love just shines from his face.
Very well said

There are good ppl in the world, like this guy’s parents
He's adorable. Is there a part 2 so we could see his birth mother?

Very cool story and you going back is once in a lifetime.

I hoped he would talk about meeting his birth mother, when the first laid eyes on each other.
I think his adoptive parents should be made to give people lessons about life to everyone. His adoptive parents are excellent people and the world needs more of what they have to give.
Never clicking your site again, misleading title.
Idiot
It's true. I thought we would see him with his mother. The title is misleading.
It's not, that was only the expectation in your head that you wanted to see them together. The video itself delivered, he told the story of them reuniting.
Accidently reunites, check.
Went out by chance, recognised the name of the adoption place, goes in to just get a bit of info and was informed that his mother never gave up on him, leading him to pursue her.
Doing something amazing, check.
Moved his life to South Korea to be closer to his birth mother and grandma that he knows nothing about to extend his family.
You just had presumptions and led into the video with expectations of gratifying your ideal scenario.
forkless Exactly. Perhaps his birth mother still feels guilty for putting him for adoption and was not ready to get social media attention at the time this video was made. I hope there will be a part 2 though.
touching story....thank you
I would have loved to see them reuniting...beautiful story but I wish there was an ending.
