Its a good thing you had Marcel with you on this trip, somebody had to catch the fish... Great tips Jay, I appreciate the videography and fishing tips together.
Agree with everything you said. Flasher is absolutely essential. I would fish with a stick and twine through a hole cut with a hatchet before I gave up my vex.
It’s a game changer I grew up not using one my dad would always just have us drop to the bottom and then a couple cranks up. Then when I got older I bought one and they’re really nice
Flasher is great, but if you don't have the extra $500 laying around, you can use a regular sonar as well ... just make sure you get the ice fishing ducer. Lots of new sonars have a flasher function anyway. Set the hook everyone
This has really helped me out! I was so torn on buying one cause like you said they’re expensive but you’ve gave me some good tips and definitely will now for my Manitoba fishing!
Ok if the walleyes are there the Bluegills are going to be running for cover. I would say you need to find the weeds or brush pile or crib. Most likely there were shallower and not in that deep because of how active the walleyes were. We caught tons fish Ice fishing before the flashers but you had to work for the knowledge and find them, and work them to get them. They were bigger and there were more of them, plus you had the lakes all to your self back then. Now it is to easy and the lake are getting fished out. Starting to think they should rotate what lakes are allowed to be ice fishing year by year to protect the spawning size, because the fish are getting hammered through the ice here in the states.
Sad but true. If you're a North Dakota resident like me blame NDGF.... I grew up ice fishing my little local lakes (sloughs) when the the fishing was phenomenal, slip bobber and minnow. NDGF decided to overstock them with fry and then post the stocking and netting reports online. Quiet lakes I used to fish with buddys around home became infested with ice castles and out of state license plates.
nice job explaining the flasher. I have a portable fishfinder i always take out with me but i did want to pick up a flasher. Didn't really understand the function though. Cheers and stay dry!!
Have you ever thought of coming to fish Little Bay De Noc in MIchigan's Upper Peninsula for walleyes through the ice? Great opportunities for trophy class walleyes and plenty of inland lakes for great panfish too.
Stick your rod tip in the hole when fighting a big fish. Otherwise theyll cut it on the Ice when they run laterally, or theyll get the hook stuck on the ice and you'll lose it.
So I take it that you are not as sold on the Panoptix set up as much as Mr Weibe? Or is this more pointed towards someone who is knew to the sport? I have had a flasher now for a few years, and they are an invaluable fishing tool. I was on board to upgrade to a nicer flasher until I saw Mr Weibe’s video with panoptix.... Now I am resolved to stick with what I have for now, and upgrade to what will hopefully be a lower priced panoptix type of fish finder. Keep the videos coming!
No, cameras are usually more cumbersome and become more entertainment than anything...they can be fun on slow days when bite is light, far between, and your hunkered down in the hut in a spot where you know there is fish below you... you can visually learn from them.... vex will tell you bottom content (hard sandy, muddy , sandy with veg) and when your trying to locate fish, its much quicker to hop around with
Great video. Apparently word on the street is that manufacutre recommend to not ise inflatables in tempsnless than 4 deg celcius. Any feedback. Floater suits are best obviously but interested in ppl's expereince.
The Owner’s Manual instructs “Never use in below freezing temperatures unless worn partially inflated. At or below 40°F (4°C) inflation time with CO2 gas will be longer. Wearing a partially inflated PFD under these conditions will provide some initial buoyancy while the PFD fully inflates.”
Good note about the flickering on the flashers and the cause and solution. I always wondered about that and so far you're the only person I've ever heard explain why a viewer sees that on videos. Any fisherman posting videos should resolve that immediately......its just plain annoying to watch and makes the flashers appear to be difficult to view....which of course they are not as your explanation proved.
CHEEZ WHIZ... for breakfast!?!? That is just wrong on so many levels. There's perfectly fine PB&J right there too! I gagged at that, not even kidding. Love your videos though. I just had to say something. Can't be the only one.
I use garmin striker 4 with ice transducer and it works great for a budget fisherman it has a flasher and regular A-scope awesome feature for about 200$
Meh, I drop down my line to the bottom and reel up 18 inches. I use dead or live bait because I only fish for big game, so I really do not need a flasher.
does anyone know what flasher i should get im new into the flasher stuff, so what would you guys recommend between the Marcum M1 or the Vexilar fl-8 genz pack????
Hey guys, just ran across your video . Looks like a blast . But, you need to proof what your transcriptionist typed . Lots of wrong words and that changes the definition of what you're trying to relate . Best wishes !
Hey Jay I sent you a freind request on Facebook, I'm very well with this lake I would love to get you on some giant bluegill the size of paper plates my name is clay j houle

I love the informative ice fishing videos. There's not that many out there.

Dude this is so well edited and filmed. Amazing work!
Appreciate the tips you gave in this video 🙌🏽 sweet video man
Lake of the woods has 4-6 inches and me and my buddy got some nice perch and walleye
Have you ever thought of coming to fish Little Bay De Noc in MIchigan's Upper Peninsula for walleyes through the ice? Great opportunities for trophy class walleyes and plenty of inland lakes for great panfish too.
Nice video 👌 good quolity, really easy to watch. Keep it up guys!
You deserve WAY more subs and views. AMAZING and quality content. Keep it up!
Can’t hate catching a walleye while chasing bluegills! 🎣
The jig looks like Peric with a tail.
Hahahah
8:24 I feel your pain man. All fishermen have experienced that feeling at least once in their life.
Another awesome video!!! Walleye are biting a couple hours north jay. Lots of ice. Where can I get some thrive hoodies?
Stick your rod tip in the hole when fighting a big fish. Otherwise theyll cut it on the Ice when they run laterally, or theyll get the hook stuck on the ice and you'll lose it.
Thanks for the tips on camera shooting and vexilar Jay. Always educational videos. Do you prefer vexilar over Marcum and why?
This is so cool I’ve fished this lake so much and I can’t believe You are fishing it this is awesome would love to fish with you guys at some point

Let’s see the vid Jay!
Soon my man.
I was hunting literally almost directly inline of u guys like 20km away 2 weeks ago was to busy huntin to hit William lake
Very informative for a Florida fisherman. Your trademark is becoming laying down on the ice when a big fish is lost, ha ha...
Good advice
Nice first ice fishing keep making bangers
Power cable tip is well needed. Happens all the time haha!
Jay, is that a proview transducer on your FLX28? How is it cause I just got an FLX28 with a proview transducer and I've heard mixed results about it.
Nice vid. Thanks for the good info. Two questions what are the other modes on the flasher and what do they do?
Nice job guys
so jealous of you guys. we havent even had one single freeze over where i live at in ohio. awesome video
Hey Jay, try cheese whiz on cinnamon bread. Wayyyyy better than normal bread/toast. You’re welcome.
Come to Colorado for some high altitude lake trout and rainbows!
Solid video!
Beats on point again my man!
Xoxo
always on point with the B roll beats. love it.
Do you personally like using an underwater camera to figure out bottom content, vegetation, ect?
No, cameras are usually more cumbersome and become more entertainment than anything...they can be fun on slow days when bite is light, far between, and your hunkered down in the hut in a spot where you know there is fish below you... you can visually learn from them.... vex will tell you bottom content (hard sandy, muddy , sandy with veg) and when your trying to locate fish, its much quicker to hop around with
What are your main reasons for choosing a flasher over an LCD?
Great video. Apparently word on the street is that manufacutre recommend to not ise inflatables in tempsnless than 4 deg celcius. Any feedback. Floater suits are best obviously but interested in ppl's expereince.

Some great tips Jay! I’m heading out as soon as hunting season is over!!
Thanks man! Good luck hunting!

"A flasher" is the answer.

catch more gills with a plastic product called the whip. buy the variety pack!!!!
Your b-roll and video style reminds me so much of Peter McKinnon
Flashers are a pain in the ass. You can see the fish come up to and stare at your lure but won't bit no matter what you do in my experience
😅😄🤣😆
Operator error! Adjust your technique buuuuuuuddddyyyyyyy...
Bring your fly rod over to Australia jay!
Newie some Murray cod on surface rat flys? That's the way

Vex changed my life and I still feel kinda dirty using it.
I just turned my lowranve hds7 into my flasher but i already know how to use it so thats what i use
What rod is Marcel using?
Meh, I drop down my line to the bottom and reel up 18 inches. I use dead or live bait because I only fish for big game, so I really do not need a flasher.
Lakers are the ultimate to watch on a flasher! You’re missing out! Thanks for watching!

"yeah probably a 26" We all have that mate that can't help it.... I'm one of them as well ahhahz
He sets the hook and his rod bends and says please be a gill. seems like setting on a pike
Pickles
I'm not a big pickle guy.
Came for the fish; all I got was you yakking.
