  • This one is a little tricky because we haven't seen it fault for us like the customer is describing. Elevator is staying at floor with the doors open, hopefully I'll have fix soon.
    Cheers

Interesting comment about march 2,I’m an elevator mechanic 10 years now and I would say I’m the best too since I have the same birthday!! Keep up the good work ,I’m jealous that I don’t have a helper that’s unheard down here now ,

Thanks for watching, my birthday is in April so not sure what that means. It is nice having a second guy.

That blue box looks like a cedes controller for "lightbarriers"

That blue box is for the light curtains, made by CEDES. They do not have timers, it’s just an open and close signal that changes state when the beam is broke. Your issue with the doors staying open when no calls are latches is a parameter setting. You can change the parameters in the controller for door times etc. If it sits at the floor with the doors open (no calls latched), more than likely it’s a parking parameter set to park with the doors open.
Your intermitting doors fault could be a DTO or DTC (door time open, door time close). If all the contacts in the door operator don’t make up when they should (fully open or fully closed) it will eventually fault out the car. Did you check the controller faults?
Also you can check the cords for the light curtain to make sure they were routed correctly and not pinched/damage. If you take that blue cover off you can turn on the buzzer switch (good for troubleshooting) so it will sound if the beam is broken (something in the way or broken wires). You should have a solid green light on that board if there are no issues, you will have an amber light appear when the beam is broken (object in the door way or damaged wires)

Unitec has a linear swap. Not a bad idea unless you want to rebuild. check the gate keeper for the led, also they buzz weird when starting to fail.

I think it's time to replace this QL operator with a nice new GAL MOVFR II or MONxT

I wonder if the QL operators were actually made by GAL specifically for United Technologies/Otis. They're made a lot like the GAL MOD model.

I think the same thing. I think the GAL MOVFR II is a drop in replacement and I think the MOD to MOVFR II conversion kit might retrofit it so the existing gears, arms and baseplate can be reused.
