I have to say, you are my favorite furniture flipper. You don't spend a lot of time standing around and talking about what you're going to do, but you still explain everything that you are doing. And your skill and attention to detail are second to none!
Wow. I love everything you did to this nightstand. The two tone wood, the stained dovetails, the beautiful hardware. Just amazing. If I lived near you, I would want to be your apprentice.
I wasn't sure about the stain till you applied the oil and wax. What a beautiful contrast to the end product. Attention to detail really stood out. And thank you for the longer look at your completed make-over xx
Simply stunning! I wouldn't have believed it if I hadn't seen it for myself! Those pulls on the cabinet doors elevated this way beyond a mundane night stand, cabinet, or cupboard!
You KNOW it's going to be a lovely piece of furniture when Jay has to use his entire body in just the first 8 minutes to get veneer off. Then the beating of the glue bottle. Action packed restoration! LOL Keep them coming, please Jay!
It’s absolutely gorgeous. I’m gonna start calling you the miracle worker. Every piece of furniture you’ve done has turned out so amazing. I love how you take your time n so very careful at what you do. And all those cool gadgets you get just adds more personality to the piece. ( loving your logo you are now placing on your pieces). I’m hoping many more people are subscribing to your channel as you do great wonders with your pieces of furniture you remake over. Your really awesome. 😊♥️♥️👍👍👍👍🌟
Great attention to detail, as always! I appreciate that you show care to all surfaces, including the back and the inner top- both of which most people would never see.
I've been watching your channel for a while, and it's been awesome to watch you develop your own style of furniture restoration. And I like that you're experimenting more with how you make these videos, as well. I liked the way you alternated between moments without music and moments with music as the video progressed.

I really love everything about your work! I especially love your attention to detail, and you take pride in the inside of the piece. There are some restoration channels on You Tube that only work on the outside, and when they do their reveal and open the doors, it ruins the whole piece for me. You have the BEST restoration channel on You Tube, and your voice is so soothing. Can't wait until your next piece.
Incredible! I love that you saved this little bedside table, and made him into such a beautiful work of art! The world needs more people like you, who appreciate the work that went into these pieces long ago, and who give them new life, rather than just letting them be thrown away. Thank you for what you do! Love your kittens, too! 🐅💖
I could never have imagined that the piece you started with was worth fixing, but the end result was beautiful and so worth the love you put into it. It is a moving reminder that broken things (in the broadest sense) are worth saving. Thank you for that.
Ooohh WOWIE 😮 super chic, beautiful result!! 😊❤ I think . . . Restoring furniture is similar to helping a wounded person or animal. Nurturing is good for the soul.
Yet another extraordinary restoration. I’m amazed by your vision to see what something obviously worn out can become. I wish I could see that and had the skills that you have to turn your vision into reality. Very nicely done. This project turned out stunningly beautiful. Again, love seeing your neighbor’s cat and how gentle you treat it. As an animal lover this makes me smile.
I like how you add historical details about furniture. It makes your videos stand out from the rest & adds appreciation for the care you take restoring a piece. You not only gave this piece it’s life back but you also gave it dignified elegance.
Wow! I love the two toned look, which gives it something special, in addition to the unique hardware. Exquisite work, as always. It'll be good for another 100 years. Kitties are always such a bonus on your channel.
big fan of that hardware! the difference was night and day, and it was a super cool makeover. I feel like you made veneer replacement look easy and approachable here!
Another fantastic restoration! This vintage piece was fit for nothing but the dump but as usual you gave it your touch and brought it back to life. A simple bedside cabinet that retains its old world and vintage charm but now a stunning piece. One of the best restorers out there! keep them coming! 😊
After watching your videos, I feel like clearing out a corner of our outbuilding to make a little wood workshop, and trying some of your techniques. I've always been fascinated with woodworking and videos like these make me want to get back into it again. Even as an 13yo girl, I took woodshop with all the boys. Thank you for posting your videos! I look forward to every one.
As a 13yo girl, I, too, took wood shop. I was the only girl; it was 1972. Unfortunately, I have really gotten into my needle craft and sewing in the ensuing years and do not feel right adding another hobby. I guess I'll have to live vicariously.
I took shop in junior high as well.. I was terrible at Home Ec. but shop was the best (my dad was a cabinet maker, so it was a no brainer) I'm female, live alone in Yukon, Canada & still love my tools & DIY projects... thanks to shop class & UA-cam channels like Jay's 😊👍
1:05 Bakelite. I had a friend who had a chess set made out of Bakelite. The plastic gives a smooth, almost oily feel to fingers, but not unpleasant. It is also heavier than ordinary present-day plastics.
Oh my, you do such beautiful work. It amazes me how you can take something that most people would throw away and make it in such a beautiful piece. I am impressed.
That was brilliant, although a lot of work, you have the eye of an artist, love the door hardware, sort of art deco, very pleasing result, and the laser wow! Cheers from Oz !!😀🥰👍👏💪
Wow! You have the knack of making a simple piece of furniture look stunning. Those handles you chose really took this to new level. You have such an artistic eye.
What a beautiful restoration of a sad old piece that was surely destined for the landfill. I love your attention to even the smallest details. The new hardware was a great choice! Simply lovely!
i think this is one of my favourite transformations, the end result was superb! i love the way you see the potential in each piece you save. as always, i think you are awesome! ❤️❤️❤️
This turned out beautifully! I'm impressed by the original hinges and bullet catches. Those catches would work for doors at least triple the size! "Utility" furniture was a way of making affordable goods with limited resources which was the situation in Britain both during and just after WWII. That being said, there was a lot of thought that went into the design of this simple little nightstand. Solid wood and plywood, sturdy hinges and a reasonably attractive veneer. You won't find some particle board monstrosity surviving 60 years and being in good enough shape to be restored. Great job and an interesting video. Thank you for taking us with you on the journey.
Dude, this is fucking awesome. You restored a cabinet full of cuts and broken pieces, into items that look like new but an aura of vintage and elegant still exists. And the video detail you gave me is complete in every process you do. With information the process makes it really fun to watch your video. You editing with every transition is also amazing. I really appreciate your work, man.🍻🍻😍
I could watch paint being stripped all day. It's so soothing! I've had a bad day, so it was nice to watch this video: the result was very handsome! Thank you for sharing
I love the contrasting stain. You are very talented, not just skilled with wood but creative and artistic. Not a massive fan of the large door handles but its an amazing transformation. I bow to your skill sir.
Jay, your videos are always interesting. If I don’t learn something new (I usually do) I enjoy watching you save the unimaginably sad pieces. Your imagination is ahead of its time. Everything you touch is fantastic after.
I remember you working on furniture on the side walk by your garage! You have worked hard and your new shop is exquisite! You were my first furniture makeover artist I joined. Thank you for your faithfulness. God Bless
You always pick the thee best hardware Jay. And it maybe your signature with the brass inlay and hardware. It really sets your wrk apart from other flippers. I love the different tone of stain too. 😻
Oh, my gosh. FAR better than new, you did excellent work on this! It looks like a "designer" piece of furniture. And I'm glad your cat was there for you, LOL! She is just beautiful.
Now,if one can salvage a broken down piece of furniture, how can a person be transformed to be special with the same care? That is what I think every time your posts come up. It is so positive. Your piece results are a marvel and satisfying to see. One wants to touch each one. Thank you.
As a child growing up in the 1950s UK I am familiar with utility furniture, it was common in homes during that time due to shortages of materials etc. It was sturdy and functioned well but it always seemed dreary and uninspiring . I love watching your craftmanship and how you re-invented this piece.
What a transformation! From low end to high end. I was nervous about the yellow tint to the stain, but you said it would change colors and boy did it! Love what you did with the piece and love seeing kitty come for a pep talk.
